After a two (!!!) week hiatus thanks to a combination of the holidays and the flu 😷, I AM BACK on the 'gram, and super excited to charge forward with a fresh focus for 2020. Yes, I will still be talking about travel, but I will also be sharing more about running a small business, the industry of influencer marketing, and how those two things intersect with my penchant for hopping on a plane. ✈️ First up, I'm sharing my thoughts on "CONTINUING EDUCATION", and why I think it is important for small business owners (especially marketing agency owners). While this is a component self-employment that is often cast aside as a nice-to-have, I've realized dedicating time to learn is crucial to foster growth and leadership. On the blog (linked in my bio) I did a deep dive on FIVE ways that I continue learning as a business owner, including: . .
📚From My Own Clients
If you currently run your own business or are curious for ways that you can learn in 2020 (or both!!), I strongly encourage you to give it a read. If you also have advice on how to keep learning that I don't talk about - please share! Nothing would make me happier than my comments section to be a place where you can exchange ideas and help each other meet your goals for 2020.
Here's to tons of business/travel content coming your way this year. I hope you're ready.

𝘏𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘺!! 𝘓𝘦𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦, 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 #selfcareSunday , 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵?
There’s six basic types of self care, and I feel like when you’re working, in the healthcare field especially, it’s important you do a little something for yourself!
𝟏- 𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥: I feel like this is pretty self-explanatory, but get active and moving!! I know so many of us are exhausted after working 12+ hour shifts, but working out or just taking a simple walk can help distress from a hectic work day/week.
𝟐- 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥: This one, to me, is really important. We pour so much of ourselves into caring for our patients that we as providers can become so drained emotionally when we get home. It’s important to be mindful of our emotional availability to not only others, but also to ourselves!
𝟑- 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥: This one definitely doesn’t have to be only about religion! I like to practice yoga or meditation, doing a couple stretches before bed to help me relax (:
𝟒- 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥: For this type of self care, it may seem a bit odd, especially when you want to just turn your brain off after a long day or night. But challenging your brain and learning a new skill (i.e. I taught myself a while back how to crochet), is beneficial!
𝟓- 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥: I am always struggling with this one, but I always fall victim to wanting to be a couch potato on my days off and shut out the outside world. Be sure to get some human connection with those who really matter to you. I love spending time with Riegel and learning what she’s going over in medical school, or driving home for the day to see my family. It helps me SO MUCH
𝟔- 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲: Our final one! Do something to nourish the senses. Listen to music, take a walk in nature, or bake something a little sweet! I find that staying attune to the senses allows me to ground myself, and de-stress a bit.
What are some of your favorite ways to relax? 🤗
Curved Rainbow 🌈 (swipe all the way to the end to see it curled!!)
To create this shape I applied the tape and my sections at a slight diagonal. If you swipe you will see the images of the tape applied before I started coloring. Tip: take small sections (1/4” or smaller depending on thickness of hair) to make sure you get a really detailed result. .
I taught this technique at my last class!! Can’t wait for my class in January 🤗 @pravana is the paint
Going HAM extended set.
1st) Start with a straight set of 5-8 reps (1-2 forced reps)
2nd) Drop set for another 5-8 reps (1-2 forced reps)
3rd) 5-8 partial reps
4th) lean as far forward as you can, still actively driving your leg into the pad, and hold for 30 seconds
No matter who you talk to, pretty much everyone agrees (meatheads, coaches, nerds alike), the main stimulus for muscle growth is force. Everyone just uses different language, and the evidence that makes them feel the most warm and fuzzy about their methods.
What leads to the highest force production? Mainly: load, fatigue and rep speed. Considering that, I love methods like the above set to produce massive amounts of force within a short period of time. Starting with peak load, accumulating fatigue leading to slow reps and failure points twice (with the drop) and extending the set with an active isometric, still actively demanding force production, while under peak fatigue from the whole set.
I’m glad to have myself and client’s results for evidence over the past two decades. But of equal importance, I’m glad to have never been hesitant to action. My methods and plan have never needed to be perfect (and still don’t), for me to act. Get in, work my ass off, demand the most from my clients, and be consistent for months and years on end. Is there a better way? Or course. No one is perfect. And I’m actively seeking better - and paying people smarter than me for it - every year.
But I definitely don’t have time to be emotional about training. And I’m not emotionally attached to any tool I use. I don’t have time to argue, or be negative. Who is that helping? (Other than my ego - which is only based in emotion). I have a passion for people, and all the good training brings them. That’s what I wanna bring to the industry, and positive people looking to the same are the ones I want to surround myself with.

One of the more popular sections on the app/site. And now every week I’m adding 2-3 new videos to this section. To keep a massive supply of horrible pump work/finishers at your fingertips. The delt one circled above I never put on IG. And it may be one for the most horrible/awesome delt finishers I’ve ever done.
The section is simple! After all your meat and potatoes logbooked stuff, go to the section, pick a horrible finisher by body part. And enjoy 10-15 minutes of destruction and the most ridiculous pumps to finish your session. (And Invoice over all the ones on the site. With extra cues/form tips)

Nurbek Nisharapov (right), Head of UCA’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) in Naryn (Kyrgyzstan) is participating in the 7th International Conference on Education and Social Sciences (INTCESS) in Dubai this week.
Today, Nurbek delivered a presentation on entrepreneurs living in rural mountainous regions, and business activities of the Eurasian Economic Development. He spoke about SPCE's short cycle education for youth and adults, entrepreneurship programmes, as well as shared insights on curriculum development, using Information and Communications Technology in teaching methods, and working with students with learning disabilities.
Scholars from Japan, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Philippines, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and the United States are also participating in the conference.
Since 2015, we have teamed up with a number of local universities in China for aspiring Esquelers who seek higher education. Guilin University of Electronic Technology is one of our partners as we jointly launched the Continuing Education Project for the second year in a row.
Esquelers enrolled in the project can obtain their Bachelor degrees upon completion of tailor-made online courses and examinations during the 2.5 year program. We are glad to sponsor the tuition fee for graduates to recognize their dedicated effort.
History has proven this. When we are going through something tough; heartbreak, business challenges, family misscommunication - it all seems like it’s going to last forever. But it doesn’t. And your future is always better as a result of letting go of anything that is toxic in your life

Hair conditioning/Migraine treatment .. -
HOW CUPPING THERAPY RELIEVES MIGRAINES -
Migraines occur when there is a reduction in the supply of blood to the brain... This is the reason why they are also referred to as vascular headaches. Whenever someone experiences a trigger, like stress, the muscles at the base of the skull will spasm and restrict the supply of blood to the brain. .. The vessels in the brain expand when spasms occur to make up for the lack of blood and reduced oxygen. The expanded vessels exert pressure on the nerves, which causes pulsating pain.... •
PROOF OF RELIEF THROUGH CUPPING THERAPY -
Research has been conducted to determine the efficacy of cupping therapy for headache relief. ..The studies yielded some positive facts about the benefits of this treatment method...One study by The American Journal Of Chinese Medicine reported on the effects of wet cupping therapy on 70 patients in a control group. ..Two-thirds of the patients experienced a decrease in the intensity of their headache pain and the frequency of their headaches also went down...A 2010 study by the World Family Medicine Journal found that patients treated for chronic headaches said the headaches were less severe after cupping therapy... #ipersonallynowthisforaFACT#NOWtheTRICKisHowdoYouGetThisCUPtoSTICK ;) #UnoDosTRESemmé !!! ! Mucho ! 🤣🤙🏽

Tonight I am diffusing Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood, known for helping you to relax and unwind or to help support a peaceful state of mind during meditation or prayer and Tangerine known for having a sweet refreshing scent to uplift the spirits! I put 3 drops of each in my diffuser then put it on intermittent so it will last longer!
I am also reading Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils by Carolyn L. Mein, D.C. It was a suggestion from the Life Steps app and a very good friend! I am finding it very interesting so far!
I had the great pleasure of teaching a workshop for the staff at @enlighten_dogs today. We answered questions on some of their current cases, reviewed protocols for trouble shooting behavior challenges, discussed pros and cons in training tools, and practiced some hands on leash exercises. It was humbling to share my experience with this great group of trainers. Already looking forward to the next one in just a few weeks. Thanks team!
Huge thank you to @injectionexpert for coming into the office today and sharing her wealth of knowledge! So many pearls! 🙌 .
Together we beautifully rejuvenated a few gorgeous faces. .
Filler injections are serious business. Yes, we have so much fun and it's so amazing to see the transformations but, knowing anatomy and safety is soooooo important! You can never learn enough, know enough, see or hear enough! .
I choose to do continuing education to stay safe and relevant. I love my job and I love my clients. ❤
We look forward to sharing some of these refreshed faces soon!
“If you quit now you’ll be right back where you started, and when you started you would have given anything to be where you are now.. keep going.”
Just keep swimming mode. Here’s to the next 10 weeks of stress, annoying Matt about what grades I have to get to keep my 4.0, being really tired and probably a few tears. No I’m not done and yes I still have a while to go, stop asking me I have 6 more classes to go including this one and yes I’m counting x 10 weeks you do the math 🙄

Today’s PSA is about salon pricing!
Here’s how it works:
Just like any other business, we determine cost of overhead and where pricing needs to begin in order to break even.
Nobody is in business to break even.🚫
So next we factor in fair wages. There’s our baseline.
Prices increase because Just. Like. Everyone. Else. stylists deserve a raise.
How are those rates determined?
Education and Demand of Time.
PS- you can’t compare salons by price. Not everyone knows the correct pricing formula; not every stylist is of the same level & mindset. Some are hobby stylists, some are career stylists and that’s ok because there is someone for everyone!
If your stylist makes you feel like a million bucks, hug ‘em and thank them for all their continued education- you’re the one who benefits!
Aiyana has shown some resource guarding tendencies so we are working on controlled, calm interactions while we share food. We originally started by muzzling Aiyana when food was involved but we’ve graduated to no muzzle! Rocky and Aiyana sit politely while I give each a treat. No stealing, snatching or growling allowed and they are both politely waiting their turn. Good job guys! . . . . .
