Day 3 was difficult. I had consumed a large amount of food prior to day 1, so day 1 and two felt very fueled.
The hunger today though was ever present. It's important to occupy the mind when hunger hits. Stay busy, drink water, and know that there will be a meal in your near future. If we focus on a goal or a narrative attached to the goal. Then our actions will have reason and be justified. If our goal fades and the story weakens. Then when you see a three pack of 630 calorie "jumbo" cookies at Wholefoods. One wont hesitate to to question whether the goal matters. The cookies offer temporary happiness, relief from hunger, rare flavor, and relief from self imposed pressures of the goal.
More often than not, I buy those cookies and indulge without guilt or question of if it was a good decision.
Today I abstained, and felt great for believing in the story that I'm living through this goal. Onto day #4 .
First of all I wanna thank the lord for safe season for me and my team. I wanna thank my mom,dad, and my brother Puka for supporting me this whole season. Fresh pumpkin bread to have with “morning” coffee this week , made a crockpot full of minestrone soup, & did meat/cheese/olive mix trays to snack on. I find that when I don’t overly restrict myself & still plan meals with foods I enjoy Im more likely to stick to a plan.
Today made workout #4 for the week. I plan on hitting #5 tomorrow before work. Sucks to think about how this is almost over already, I wish it would never end, ever since last night I been thinking how lucky I have been to play with my brothers, thinking of how after we all graduate most of us won’t even talk anymore, not ever getting to play the game of football together, wishing I would have never taken anything for granted, wishing I would have listened to everyone telling me how fast it goes by and to enjoy every single moment I have, and to give it my all every single play, wishing I could just go back and have 4 more years with my brothers because it truly does suck thinking about. These 7 tips are what Tom and I have found to be fundamental in our 19yr relationship! But I wanted to take it a step further and give a real example where it actually came into play in real life! So I chose to talk about #2 !
It was Saturday night in the early days of Quest & Tom and I were going on a romantic date. We didn’t get many of them, so I spent hours getting all “hottied” up! We were both SO excited...until...his phone rang! We were literally backing out of the drive & he got a call...there was a problem with the production line. Now back then, losing a batch & having employees stand around for hours was very costly, one we couldn’t afford. Tom looked at me and without missing a beat he said “We gotta go in”! So, in a sexy dress & stilettos, we went to the facility. But because of my outfit I wasn’t allowed on the production floor, so I sat in the car for close to 2hrs...waiting.
While I was sitting there I was going back & forth with emotions. I was horrified that the business had come into conflict with my relationship with my husband again. I was frustrated that I was taking a back seat to our time together...again. And I was upset that I had to sacrifice...again! All these thoughts played over & over in my head.
Until I realized I wasn’t being fair! Tom wanted to go to dinner too & so he wasn’t working because he wanted to. He was doing it because he needed to. We had a SHARED dream & he was holding his end of the bargain!
I also reminded myself that we had consciously discussed and agreed to go all in! When we spoke about it, we didn’t say, we were going to go all in...except on date nights! We had a SHARED dream and this is what it was going to take. And we had agreed on that!
So, when he returned, I decided to greet him with a big smile, a huge hug & a mushy kiss! An evening that could of gone sideways turned into a firey date because we both communicated obsessively ( #5 ) about what our dreams were... and...well we wanted to hold true to #1 and #4 😉
