Boom. Water fast complete. Funny thing about fasting... You hate it the first few days, then you're sad to see it end. Must be the ketones talking. Never trust a ketone.
I think the 45 second sprint is one of the toughest ones to do well on the Versaclimber. If you go out too fast your legs are blowing up in the last 15 seconds. If you hold back at the start for too long you will not get a good overall output. It is a window into your fitness. Lots of people can look good for the shorter period but in the last 15 seconds you learn a lot. I did these with an additional 40 lbs. unweighted my best is around 270. I warmed up for 4 min then did 5 total while fasted . #45secondsprints#truthinfitness#brutal#strengthcoach#versaclimber#windowintoyoursoul#7dayfast
In the home stretch. This fast was easier than the last 7 days. I trained hard through the first 5 days and have worked as well. I have learned a lot more about fasted training. Biggest takeaway is short and intense is easier. It makes sense from an evolutionary perspective I did not train the last two days. You really learn about how your body works when you spend a little time at end points. I see clients who are unwilling to challenge themselves. Especially as we age. There are a lot of platitudes about challenging yourself and having no fear. Start pushing yourself little by little and you will open the door to a whole new world. I will have bone broth with poached eggs and avocado as my first meal. Will step up to heavier foods in day 3. #drfrankenstein#7dayfast#challengeyourself#truthinfitness#athleticexcellence#alwayslearning#strengthtraining#strengthtraining#strengthcoach#practicewhatyoupreach#primalhealthcoach
5 days into my 7 day fast. I am handling this fast better than the last 7 day fast. Lifted this morning and rode to the top of Kenter. Beautiful day. My power was down a little but it is a steep climb. I find that I handled the short 45 second intervals yesterday on the Versaclimber better than the longer effort today. Most would think the opposite. I think when you go this long without food your body wants you to be able to execute short intense efforts more readily than longer easier efforts. From an evolutionary standpoint it makes sense. Body probably prioritizes ATP to accommodate fight or flight encounters. I am down about 8lbs. #7dayfast#fastedexercise#wewerebuiltforthis#truthinfitness#athleticexcellence#drfrankenstein#lookingforwardtofood#mentaltoughness
What happens to you when life gets tough? You know, when the heat gets turned up and things start to go sideways. What comes out of you? A deeper question to delve into is figuring out if these things are controlling you. Are your emotions bossing you around? Life can punch you in the face in a variety of ways. Difficulties at work, excessive debt, marriage problems, and disobedient children are just a few of the things that we will likely face during our lives. Most of us are creatures of habit and more often than not we tend to react the same when put in pressure filled situations. Sometimes God puts us through trials of various kinds to help us grow. However, Satan will also try and tempt us, and he will continue to attack us in similar ways for this simple reason; it works. What we need to do is be aware enough to see the warning signs when life throws a haymaker our way and be able to respond well versus reacting poorly.
When a silversmith is creating an object like a blade, he increases the temperature until the impurities come to the surface. The impurities are called dross and I referenced this in my last blog, The Storms of Life. He skims the dross and removes it from the silver, thus purifying the precious metal. The process is done multiple times and he knows it is ready when he can see his own image in it. God puts us through this same thing when refining us during trials. At times this can feel overwhelming, but we need to realize this is His way of helping us grow. In order for us to have breakthroughs in life and gain victory, we need to figure out what our impurities are and do our very best to learn from our past and move on to new beginnings. God will know we are ready to move on to the next step in life when He can see Himself in us.

Back at it again! This time with more confidence and resolve. My bottle of water that I will keep refilling, the cup of mild camomile tea with a dash of sea salt and the journal to ground me and keep me on track. Today evening I plan to walk 6-8 kms around the park and do some crunches. #extendedfasting#7dayfast
I never really explained why I’m doing a 7 day fast, so I wanted to offer a little more information! •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• I am fasting for a number of reasons, but the two most important are to reaffirm my relationship with food as I start a new year and for spiritual purposes. Bad habits are SO easy to fall back into. If you know my story, you know I lost 66lbs in 2017, then gained almost 50lbs back in 2018 before starting keto. I gained weight back because I convinced myself that the small slips in behavior and food choices didn’t matter, but THEY DO. I’ve noticed since the middle of December that this mindset has wanted to creep back in, and I am not having it!! I’ve come too far to let myself fall into old behaviors.
I am also a Christian, and I believe in the power of prayer and fasting. I am re-reading a book called “Love to Eat, Hate to Eat” while I complete this fast and focusing on my relationship with God each day.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• How I’m fasting:
This is a zero calorie fast, so I’m mostly having water. I am drinking electrolytes twice a day (I use @keynutrients ) and also taking my @fitonomy preworkout before I go to the gym. I am still working out daily, fasted cardio is the best!
Fasting has SO MANY benefits, but is not a great option for sustainable weight loss. When I break my fast next week I can expect to gain back about half of what I’ve lost. The purpose of this fast is NOT weight loss!
Fasting is a muscle. You develop it slowly over time. I started with 16 hour fasts last January and have built up the length of my fasts over the last year.
Okay y’all, shits gettin real. I started my 10 pounds in 30 days challenge to myself today - then decided I was gonna kick it off with a 7-10 day water fast. The longest fast I’ve ever done was 72 hours, so I’m pretty excited to see how this one goes. I want to at least do 7 days but gonna try to reach 10. This ISN’T just for weight loss. This is to detox my body & flush out toxins. To give my digestive tract a break from processing food and HEAL itself. To help me mentally and spiritually because I haven’t been myself lately. I need to get back in touch with myself and my body. This teaches control & I desperately need it back in my life. Extended fasting has many benefits, not just weight loss. I’m gonna weigh in first thing tomorrow, post my weight, take before pictures & post them at the end of my fast with the end results as well. 💙 p.s. I started my fast at 2pm today. #keto#ketogenic#ketogenicdiet#waterfast#waterfasting#extendedfasting#health#lchf#health#7dayfast#10dayfast

I mentioned earlier today that I am going to do a 7 day fast. I think there are so many misconceptions about fasting and extended fasting (especially) freaks people out. In reality, there are so many health benefits to fasting! If you're interested in learning more, I strongly recommend reading this book. I will be doing a 7 day fast, only drinking approved liquids. No diet soda. 😵😭 The second day is the hardest and it just gets easier after that. I will let y'all know how it goes!! 🙌🏻❤️ #7dayfast

Good morning!! ☀️ Can I just even tell you how happy I am that I decided to get back on track??! Like so, so happy!! Back in June, I was probably at my lowest point. I had gained back a ton of weight and I had totally given up on myself. If you're in that situation, please just try again. You're worth the effort and sacrifice. AND! I'm starting Day 3 of my seven day fast! It's going really well! I feel great! 👍🏻😄 If you have questions about fasting I strongly recommend getting the book I posted about earlier. If has all of the information you could ever want about fasting. ❤️ #7dayfast#beforeandafter#beforeandduring#beforeandafterweightloss#progressnotperfection#progresspic#nevergiveup

Day 5 of my fast is going better than yesterday!! Honestly, I have so much going on with getting ready for our trip and packing for our move--it is kind of nice to not have to worry about making meals for myself. HOWEVER! Robb made our boys brussel sprouts and chicken last night and I had to go sit in my room with the door closed. It smelled SO good! 🙈 It's okay!! Only two days left. Also, check out the shorts!! They are officially comfy. 👍🏻😁 #7dayfast#beforeandafter#beforeandduring#beforeandafterweightloss#progressnotperfection#progresspic

No diet soda or artificial sweeteners for me!! Lemon wedges in ice water for the win! Even after my fast is over, I hope I can stay away from diet soda. I was drinking waaaaaay too much. 🍋❤️ #7dayfast
