You have until 10pm today (Thursday) to vote in the General Election. Ginny the whippet braved the chilly weather in Crossflatts to take her owner to vote this morning.
If possible try not to leave it until the last minute – polling stations tend to get busy later in the evening and have to close at 10pm prompt. If you are in a queue for the polling station before 10pm you will still be allowed to vote.
Yesterday we talked about how we had tried to reduce food related waste at our little boys party. We also tried to go low waste for the decorations and entertainment too:
1. In the past I would have bought single use decorations, instead we got our craft on - my husband chalked a jungle scene on a blackboard (from our wedding), we cut out lots of paper jungle leaves (which will be going up in the playroom at home) and used our felt bunting.
2. For entertainment we brought the ‘big toys’ from home and borrowed a few bits (trampoline, pop up tunnels etc) from friends and family. It cost nothing, there was no waste and the kids had a great time running wild on them.
3. We didn’t do party bags - lots of the guests were littlies and our older nephews were very understanding (although that might not have been in the car on the way home 🤣). 4. I’ve kept all the wrapping paper that came with his presents and will be donating it to Santa for the Christmas stockings this year.
5. We’ve had a clear out of his toys to make room for new ones and will be donating the ones he no longer uses.
Look at me and my little mini enjoying a bit of Tommy Thumb this week! As well as listening for and saying letter sounds, we also encourage little ones to develop their fine motor skills through the use of songs and actions 💃. This is important because between the ages of 22-36 months, children should be beginning to hold a pencil in a tripod grip when making simple marks such as circles and lines. Further down the line those circles and lines will turn into written letters like 'l', 'h', 'o' or 'a', all of which contain line or circle shapes. Amazing stuff huh!
A return of #WingsWednesday taken from our Monday performance @fortunetheatrelondon! Have you purchased tickets for this season?! If so, lucky you as we are SOLD OUT! But not to worry if not, we’ll be back in February! •
Happy birthday to us! Yesterday was officially three years from our opening in Saltaire and what a fab three years it has been! We thought we would celebrate by posting these lovely pictures of our two new team members - Ann and Louisa, who have brought new energy and ideas (and a whole lot of crocheting!) to our business. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with so many brilliant artists and makers over the last three years and to meet brilliant local people who have very kindly supported our art and craft workshops and shop - so we would like to say a huge thank you to all of them. Here’s to the next three years and to opening our second branch (complete with brilliant cafe!) in the centre of Bingley this November - can’t wait!! 🥂✨🥳 #Crafthouse#saltairecrafthouse#shop#shoplocal#workshops#artsandcraft#saltaire#bingley#happybirthday
