My valentine's was something different, abundant love from these little one's.
We went to a remote village in Karjat to conduct a healthcare check up, these tiny babies were so excited to see us, they kept buzzing around all the time, they prepared food for us, helped in serving and even cleaned up the vessels after.
And all throughout they were beaming with happiness!
I loved their involvement, and their school play area! These kids even took us to a nearby stream and that's when i saw them walk barefeet, in the sun, on gravel, with absolutely unprotected feet.
It was heartbreaking, to see them walk barefeet, see the high decay in their teeth because they couldn't afford it, neither footwear nor toothbrush and tooth paste. And most of them looked malnourished, even when provided with meals at school.
I felt helpless and hurt, back at home I and most of us, have so many footwear that we could absolutely do without, and we still have them. Because, we are more privileged!
And these little ones need it, way more than any of us and still do not have that option.
Diagnosis holds very little importance if we cannot offer treatment, and offering treatment seems like a far distant option.
Don't get me wrong, it was my best valentine's day today with infinite love and affection, but also the one with a realisation. That we also need to give back to this world, that we've been taking from, in our own ways!
