This is my daughter & I, 7 years ago.
In this picture I had been so unwell with depression and anxiety so intensely for so long that I felt ready to give up. I couldn’t look after myself and I felt so guilty that I couldn’t take proper care of my little girl. I’d lost my job because I couldn’t function, and the company I worked for didn’t have any support facilities in place.
I remember my dad sitting next down and trying to work out what was wrong. I had no idea so I couldn’t even tell him. At one point he helped me get dressed (not an exaggeration) and he walked me round ASDA like a lost puppy.
What I noticed was that the more time he invested the more I spoke to him about it. Eventually he convinced me to the doctors. A combination of the fluoxidine they gave me and the conversations with my dad and eventually other family and friends, and having that little monkey around saved my life. I’m certain that without being open and speaking to people around me I would have continued to spiral.
Be open, be authentic & be honest. Talking saves lives 🙏🏻🖤

Looking through my pics and trying to find SOME motivation to keep going. To keep pushing. I’ve gotten myself into a little bit of a stalled rut. Not really seeing any progress, feeling really emotional lately about my life in general. I didn’t have to scroll far to see this picture I took last Sunday. Before my hair color. But only a week ago. Just a week ago I was so excited to be fitting in size 18 jeans (down from a size 22/24 just 3 months ago), and a size XL shirt (as opposed to the 2XL I had previously worn). I had purchased this shirt in a smaller size purposefully to push myself to fit into it. And I finally do! I was so excited, because I love this shirt (and this song lol). So my #Mondaymotivation is this picture, to use it to push myself to keep going. What’s your “why”? ❤️💪🏼 #love#weightlossjourney#losingweight#health#inspiration#motivation#dedication#weightloss#fitness#momlife#determination#outkast#sofreshandsoclean#Nashville

. “Are you a different animal and the same beast?” One way to look at this quote is simply “do different things, but always be the best that you are”. Trying something different that’s not in your nature (different animal) but striving to be the best at it as you would for something you’re already great at. (same beast) Pretty simple! BUT another way to look at it, we all get to a place where we have grown from where we used to be. Being better than before makes us a “different animal”. But remember even if you are the best, or better than you were, there’s always room to fall back into our old habits, old way of doing things, and becoming a glimpse of our former selves. Now your growth and keeping up with the habits that got you to where you are (the best or better) is “the same beast”. All that being said, never get comfortable with where you’re at. There’s ALWAYS room for growth and maintaining your results. Keeping your inner beast going will always result in becoming a different animal than you were before. Don’t stop and settle because you see ONE difference, keep striving for more! .

Client Spotlight 💥
Name: Matt Hurd
Department: DIT •What has fitness done for your well-being?
Mainly, I just feel better about myself. It's not even the common "I feel so energized after I workout" or anything like that. I'm happy with myself for getting up and being active and working to change my diet to be healthier. When I go for a run or to a gym class, I'm tired when I'm done (Sometimes exhausted. David, I'm looking at you!) but I'm happy with myself that I did it. I'm certainly not where I want to be yet, but I'm proud of the progress I've made, and who wouldn't be happy with themselves about that!? •What positive changes have you experienced since making your health and wellness a priority?
So many great things come from prioritizing health and wellness. The slow but steady downward trend of the scale is great. Clothes fitting better is also wonderful. I absolutely love seeing my running pace go down, even when I don't feel like I'm running any harder. However, my favorite thing might be when I was brushing my hair after getting out of the shower and looking in the mirror and thinking "Hey! Look at that! I can see some arm muscle there!" LOL •How do you fit your fitness routine in your work schedule?
I'm very much one of those people that works it in when I can. Sometimes it's running or taking a group class at Ironworks on my lunch break. Sometimes it's running in the evening so that my daughter can go with me. Sometimes it's running right after work just because there's an event or something I need to go to that night. What's interesting is that I do find that "working it in when I can" tends to have a schedule and my routine is pretty stable. I also do everything I can to get 10,000 steps every day (200 day streak at the moment). Some days it's no problem and I'm there by the time I get home, and other days I'm marching in place in my living room at 10 PM because I still need 1000 more steps. One interesting thing is how I've found ways to squeeze more steps in where I can. Parking at the back of the parking lot when I go to the store, or parking in the parking deck at work and then walking to the Union Street building where my desk is.

happy monday 🌟
another question I got the other day and regularly do is: why do I tuck my toes in anjaney (and split and lizard etc.)
the short and simple answer is: engagement + alignment for effectiveness! with untucked toes in anjaney, the leg is droopy, nothing is supported, and it’s harder, impossible if you ask me, to pull through the front body the way you should be in order to make the pose work for you - by tucking the back foot, the whole leg engages, this also brings it up into the glute, this supports the pelvis which is just hanging in space there. the tuck also allows you to press back, line up the psoas, and drag through and up the front body to stretch it!
try this: tuck the back foot in crescent lunge, pull your toes forward toward the top of your mat and press your heel back behind you, gently rotate your back thigh inward and squeeze your inner thighs toward one another. drag the ribs up and away. doesn’t matter how deep the spine bends, you want to feel hip flexor/quad (groin to low belly and front of thigh) let me know how this feels! .
Melbourne’s @studiofour is a highly talented team with experience in architecture, interiors, landscape, art and fashion. Each discipline is just as important as the next and by nurturing creativity, every team member is able to freely bring their own unique perspective and expertise to the table during the initial design phase which is conducted without a computer or ruler in sight!
In an interview with @est_living, directors Annabelle Berryman and Sarah Henry spoke passionately about their desire to intertwine interior and exterior spaces as well as the importance of the role of architecture in our health. They credit their passion for designing healthy homes with a building biologist they previously worked with together with the learnings of Nicole Bijlsma’s 'Healthy Home Healthy Family,' both of which have truly informed their approach in all their projects. Given the financial investment made in a home, it makes sense that it should be a healthy space where the mind, body and spirit can coexist equally right?
And adding that element of green they do so well, a strong sense of unity between structure and nature exists and this can only make people happier and in turn healthier!

Renew Life Organic Clear Fibre is an easy, no fuss way to increase the amount of fibre in your diet by adding it to your favourite foods. Organic Clear Fibre uses 100% organic acacia gum. Acacia is high in soluble fibre, but yields little to no gastrointestinal side effects. Some soluble fibres, such as inulin, can cause gas and bloating. Soluble fibre breaks down as it passes though the digestive tract, forming a gel that traps toxins for removal from the body. It also absorbs excess cholesterol, which is helpful in lowering the risk of heart disease as it reduces the absorption of cholesterol into the bloodstream. Soluble fibre helps control blood sugar by delaying emptying of the stomach which slows the entry of glucose into the bloodstream and lessens the post-meal rise in blood sugar. As well as its properties as a fibre supplement, acacia fibre is also a 'prebiotic'. Prebiotics help promote the colonization of healthy bacteria (flora) in the intestinal tract.

In addition to helping to soothe a sore throat and being an effective cough suppressant (either used in hot tea or as a stand alone supplement), some evidence suggests that honey can also help stimulate one's immune system. With it being cold and flu season, be sure to have some honey on hand for the next time you feel a cough coming on or your throat feels scratchy!⠀
Did you know that acupuncture can also help with cold and flu prevention as well as help manage symptoms and support faster healing including shortening the length of the illness? Give us a call today to find out more and stay ahead of cold and flu season! 201-327-1990

i’ve shared before why i think it’s important for all students, especially premeds, to hav leadership positions. today, i wanted to share about mine! so many people vie for the leadership role in their prehealth club as if it has to be within that, but being involved in whatever organization you’re in shows commitment to your activities!
1. Academic Chair, Delta Gamma Sorority
As our academic chair, or “Director of Scholarship”, my role is to keep our chapter accountable for their academic success. I do this via positive programming such as end of year awards for those with good GPAs, monthly awards for those who got high study hours, and more. We also use our dues to put towards two scholarships- a merit and need based. I also give occasional presentations in our weekly meetings, aka Chapter, about academic resources and other advice. In the end, it’s up to the members themselves to be disciplined and work hard, but it’s a cool role to always be there to support your sisters. This position is elected by a nominating committee who takes into consideration your academic background and other things that make you a good possible candidate to be able to lead your sisters academically.
2. VP Administration, Panhellenic Executive Board
Stepping away from working within my own sorority, I also hold a position on the board that governs all of the sororities on campus. My main role during most of the year is to take minutes at meetings and work to communicate with the delegates from each sorority (and other administrative duties), but the role changes during formal recruitment! It’s an awesome way to stay plugged in to greek life, while meeting other amazing women from other chapters. This position is also elected by a nominating committee, but this is an interview based position.
While I have membership in other organizations, these are the two that I’ve chosen to run for leadership roles in. This is hopefully an encouragement to look at the roles that your local organizations have to offer and step out and apply! You may love yours as much as I love mine :’) Any questions about my roles or just leadership roles in general? Drop them below!

🍋 LEMON GARLIC BUTTER BAKED SALMON WITH CRISPY POTATOES & ASPARAGUS by; @sara.haven 🍋 @sara.haven
This recipe is great for Sunday or Monday meal prep, as it comes together fast and calls for ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.
POTATOES: 1) Preheat oven to 400 F. Toss 1 pound quartered yukon gold potatoes in 1 tablespoon olive oil; season with salt and pepper 2) arrange potatoes on a large baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes; remove from oven.
SALMON & ASPARAGUS: while the potatoes are roasting, combine 3 tablespoons garlic ghee (or butter) + 2 cloves minced garlic + a splash of lemon juice in a small bowl; microwave for 30 seconds, or until melted. Season salmon and asparagus with sea salt + black pepper. Once the potatoes are removed from the oven, push them to one side of the baking sheet (they’re not finished cooking yet), and arrange salmon and asparagus as seen in the photo. Drizzle with lemon garlic butter sauce. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until salmon is cooked through. Remove from oven and turn it to broil. Broil for 5 minutes or until salmon, potatoes, and asparagus are crispy. Enjoy! ❤️

Happy Monday to you all! I’m feeling so refreshed and ready to take on the week after catching up on some much needed rest yesterday 👏🏻 I can always tell when I haven’t given myself enough time to recuperate over the weekend if I wake up feeling tired/sluggish on a Monday, but luckily that wasn’t the case this morning! Anyways, Ive been craving shrimp like a mad woman these past few days so I put together this simple but delish plate for lunch. Totally hit the spot and reminded me that I need to eat shrimp more often! 🤤 Gonna go to class in a bit and then spend the rest of the evening working on my assignments. I hope you all have a great week! ❤️

#ad | I’ve been taking collagen for over 2 years now and over the past month I’ve made it a priority to reincorporate it into my daily routine every single day + I have been loving it. I got a message shortly after posting on my stories a few weeks ago about taking collagen daily, if I think it’s a trend, and why I choose @ancientnutrition and I basically wrote a novel - I choose to take collagen because for someone as active as I am I notice how helpful it is in my joints, my recovery, and how I love using it as a protein powder + I’ve seen improvements in my skin, hair, and nails when I use it consistently. I found @ancientnutrition last year and I would 10/10 recommend every single one of their products because not only are they the best tasting, mix well into literally EVERYTHING, but because they’re a company that cares about making innovative products that never compromise quality. Although there are lots of health products out there and there seems to be a new thing every few months, this is something I’ve chosen to add to my daily life and will continue to do so, if you’re interested in trying it out too, there’s a link to shop @ancientnutrition in my stories - while you’re there, check out their amazing supplements, essential oils + flavored collagen! 💛 trust me, you’ll want to #JustAddCollagen to everything!
One day I will shed this mortal coil, but until then, I’m gonna slap heels on it.
Have I done what I’ve been sent to do? If it were all to end tomorrow would I feel satisfied with what I’ve become? Am I satisfied with my offerings to this existence?
There’s always more work to do. I don’t mind the work. I enjoy self development, if that’s what we’re calling it. Like a rising Phoenix over and over again. An infinite birthing of oneself.
Your new life is going to cost you your old one.
It always has.
