People always ask me how to lower your body fat percentage. Easy, when you train take very little to no rest to keep your heart rate very high for at least 50mins and train 5 days a week. The result is highly VALUABLE!

I’ve been very absent from social media lately because I have just had a lot going on in my businesses and personally that take a lot out of me. I have been facing burnout and exhaustion almost daily.
I am happy to report that pushing myself to the extreme has allowed me to take a step back and look at where I need to adjust to make sure I am not only showing up for others, but also showing up for myself. I have started making small changes in my schedule in order to start implementing what I have identified that I need.
The cool thing about life is that it is ever-changing. Our needs will change from one day to the next... in some cases one moment to the next. Yoga and meditation give me the tools to check in with myself to determine what I need. Then it is up to us to put those needs into practice. •.

🔥I decided to ditch the protein powders.. This is my new post-workout meal and here’s why- 💥This meal is loaded with protein AND electrolytes. Quinoa is actually a complete protein as it contains all 9 essential amino acids. Chickpeas are rich in protein and both edamame and broccoli contain protein. 💥This meal is also rich in electrolytes, which are lost through sweat during a workout and need to be replenished. 🏋🏻♂️⛹🏽♂️Electrolytes are: calcium, magnesium, sodium, chloride, potassium, phosphate and bicarbonate. (The electolyte powder i was using had 11g of sugar out of the 17g serving. WTF!!)
This meal contains every single one of those electrolytes except for bicarbonate, which your body naturally synthesizes. 💥Another reason I gave up the protein and electrolyte powders because even if they’re organic/plant based, there’s very little regulation in the industry, so you really don’t know what you’re consuming, lots of added sugars, and because it’s not a natural food source, they may not be properly digested. I’ve also read that protein powders can cause kidney issues. 🍛This awesome dish contains quinoa, chickpeas, edamame, broccoli and salt! Delicious.. oh and did i mention that this is low in fat?! Sounds like it doesn’t really make sense when you say it out loud right?
Lowering calories to lose weight seems more logical, and for many people it is as simple as that.
But for some people, especially those that are active may need more nutrients and energy overall to knock off that stubborn 5-10 pounds that has been hanging on for dear life.
Like my client “loosing weight is a bonus”.
Increasing her calories to 600-700 calories a day in an effort to “feel and be healthier” was all she needed to shake off 6 pounds.
How did this happen?
🔶She ate more protein, which led to a faster metabolic rate and an increase in protein turnover.
🔶She ate more food which gave her more energy. Her previous severe energy imbalance from all her running and weight lifting and eating too little to match her needs had obviously depressed her metabolism. Now who knows really if it was the food that stimulated her metabolism or that she was able to train harder, which meant that she burned more calories during and after training, but this worked for her.
🔶Did the variety of wholesome foods that she was eating and adding carbs and a balanced fat intake lead her to a hormonal environment help her burn more fat?
It wasn’t just this one thing, eating more calories, it was the thing that she did that created a cascade of changes that brought her to her goal of feeling and being healthier and shaking off some extra baggage.
✨She took action. ✨
Decides the timing of the year, the imperfection of her efforts, she continued to show up every day and focus on her actions.
You also, can do what my client did here, regardless if your needs are to eat more or to eat less, you still have a choice.
Your choice is to stand still with no plan or to take action with a plan.

Yesterday I was singing ‘Into the Unknown’ with some of my first graders. I have yet to see the movie- waiting for it to be on demand, but I love the one song so much. Then Harmony proceeds to tell me I should listen to ‘show yourself’ and that it is also a good song. So I start to play it. But dismissed it because some of the notes where too low for me to hit with my voice.
Then this morning I get in my car, on my way to work, and hear the ending of the song. The lyrics are spot on! Got me all in my feels. This song was meant for me right in this moment.

Klar arbeiten wir alle auf Tag X hin.. aber ich finde gerade der Weg dahin macht die Vorbereitung aus. Ich mache das nicht nur um evtl einen blöden Blechpokal in der Hand zu halten sondern um über mich selbst hinaus zu wachsen. An meine eigenen persönlichen Grenzen zu gehen UND darüber hinaus. Es mir selbst zu beweisen, dass wenn man etwas erreichen will es auch schafft. Einfach zu funktionieren. Einfach zu machen. Egal wie es einem geht. Man muss es nur genug wollen. Am Ende ist jeder irgendwo ein Gewinner weil man sich einfach selbst besiegt hat. Den inneren Schweinehund besiegt hat und sich nicht hat klein kriegen lassen. Jeder kämpft für sich selbst und Vorallem mit sich selbst. Und ich bin gespannt wie hart der Weg noch wird 😄 aber aufgeben ist keine Option 🙏🏻🧡
