I’m taking the week off. I want to throw my kid a great Halloween party. I need to restock. I also need to repair some things around the house and get rid of extra furniture. I’m trying to push up on the scary pumpkin dude but he wasn’t having it.

😴 TRAVEL TIP TUESDAY...KNOW YOUR LIMITS
Well more like know your kids’ limits. When it’s time to hit the parks even the most perfectly laid out plans can be foiled by a cranky toddler or even big kiddo. Don’t be afraid to move away from your schedule for a bit so that the rest of your day isn’t ruined.
You can head back to the resort for a rest. But, also look for attractions and location in and around the parks that are less stimulating....
•Hall of Presidents and People Mover in Magic Kingdom are perfect laid back attractions. •Each park also has Baby Care Centers getting you out do the what and stimulation. •Recharge with a snack on a bench in the shade or at a quick service spot •Take a boat ride, monorail ride or skyliner ride.
Unfortunately for us when Weston is done he plops down where he is. But that’s our sign it’s time to chill! Makes us all much happier when he is rested. 😉 #downanddone#theresanemptyseatinthestroller#heprefersconcrete#takeabreak#keepthemagicgoing#disneyparks#seaworldorlando#universalstudiosorlando

I want to talk about a parenting technique that I call “mapping” that I think is useful for younger kids, particularly when they're in the middle of an activity that they really enjoy. (Going trick or treating is a great example.)
I focus a lot on pairing down the information that we give to our kids to the basics, primarily because the less we say the more space they have to grow their capacity to self-regulate and focus on what needs to be done. Mapping is a language tool that I recommend to help focus the language we're using with our kids, and pull them into a clear picture of the moment and how their actions affect it.
So lets say your trick or treater has just shoved the other kids out of the way at the door to get their candy first. They return from the door and you tell them
"Suzy, I need you to take a one minute break. It's not a big deal, but take a seat right here by this tree for me."
Suzy loses it. She doesn't want to sit, be away from her friends and stop what she's doing. Resist the urge to comfort her and simply present the map:
"Do you want to continue trick or treating?"
"Well if you want to continue trick or treating first you have to take a break"
"But I don't want to take a break!"
"I can't make you take a break. But we can't go back to trick or treating unless you take a break."
In this interaction, you've created a natural fork in the road, and it is up to your child to choose which way they want to go. By removing the charge and by limiting your speech to articulating their choices you are forming an easy to follow map for your kid. It may take them a while to take the first break, but eventually that map will form an internal structure which they can use to calm their own emotions and return to the activity that they so desperately want to return to.
P.S. I wouldn't recommend giving your first break on Halloween. As the saying goes, don't do on game day what you haven't tried in practice.

I’m on a roll with these so far this week 😂 When I first read this I thought it meant break as in vacation 😂
A break in your day is just as important however . Anyone that has ever worked with me know I’m a advocate of them . I believe it is important to recharge and refresh and your quality of work/activity or whatever it may be improves . #day11#break#takeabreak#recharge#refresh#wellbeing#wellness#31dayswellness
I have been focusing more and more on my breathing, focusing on how I breathe without control and with control.
I noticed that the place where my breathing is at its best is while I am walking along the beach looking at the sea, focusing on the sounds around me.
The painting "Sounds of Serenity" is inspired by one of those walks. I hope that when looking at this painting on your wall at home, you will feel serene and relaxed.

When you feel like quitting, take a break instead.⠀
This has been my mantra on repeat this year. Sometimes I just stood at the kitchen sink bawling my eyes out because the kids were being loud or doing kid things and I couldn't deal. ⠀
Before then, I had a million things on the go and a plate so full it was actually Mount Everest of commitments. It wasn't because I thought I was superhuman. It was simply because I enjoy doing all the things I do. I enjoy working. And then it started to fall apart. I started to fall apart. ⠀
I mean, I knew I was. I was going to the doctor every few months, begging for more tests. But I kept piling stuff on until I collapsed.⠀
That's what I've learned this year: Girl, if you don't take a break, y o u will break. ⠀
You serve and help absolutely no one if you are triggered, and angry, and overwhelmed, and stressed, and sick. ⠀
Raise your hand if you need some rest and restoration and tell me what 2 things you can do to get it.
Let our cosy, recently restored Asturian house become home for a long weekend. With three apartments to choose from, we offer fully catered short breaks with a range of possible activities and trips to give you a glimpse of the hidden beauty, history and nature of Asturias.
Sometimes the best way to remain productive in your day is to take a break. Especially when you feel you can't spare an extra moment, stepping away from your office can give you the extra momentum you need to power through your day.⠀
Take a moment to:⠀
🌞Soak in some Vitamin D and eat your lunch outside⠀
🌞Get your body moving and take a 15-minute walk or yoga break⠀
🌞Put in your earbuds and get lost in your favorite tunes.⠀
When you feel better, you work better!

The last 4 weeks have had a ton of ups and downs for us. It’s been tough & getting away to stand in the beauty of nature was about the only way I could think to quiet the mind.
Trying to hold onto this stillness for as long as possible.
Toe to Toe Tuesday 🥊 You deserve a break!
Take some time to focus on you and let your mind and your body unwind. We are all so busy nowadays, we never switch off! If we aren't doing activities face to face with people we are on social media. So take some time, maybe set an hour or two each week to focus on your mental health and just give yourself some space to breathe. #MentalBoxing#MentalHeath#BeAware#TakeABreak#Rest#JustBreathe#Stress

Like so many people living with chronic illness, pushing through the pain, the fatigue, the nausea and all the rest of it has become second nature.
So much so that when total rest is prescribed its actually kinda hard to do!
My hip flexor and by (literal) extension my legs and lower abs have been on total rest for WEEKS now and today I was told it could be months before it subsides.
My instinct is to ignore the insteuctions push through the pain.
cause that's what we're used to, right?
Pushing through and past the pain, exhaustion, side effects and the rest is necessary to grt through life, so it becomes habitual.
And sometimes that habit is harmful.
Any tips for getting to a place of accepting taking it easy without loosing the drive to push in other areas of life as/when needed?
Hello hello! I’m back!! 👣
I spent the last week traveling around Chicago during my fall break and being the #brokecollegestudent that I am, ima drop my biggest tip on how we saved money: think ahead for transportation!!! We flew @spiritairlines (which is already cheap to begin with) and booked our tickets at the airport to save that $$$ 🤑 we also SquEeZeD all our stuff for 6 people into one check in and wore HELLA layers on our flight to avoid having to pay for baggage. Lastly we got a 7-day #ventra card because public transportation is 1000x more cheap and easy than driving or ubering everywhere!! Hopefully something I just typed is new to you and helped bc otherwise you just wasted your time reading this 🙃 happy fall break bbz!!
So it's been a week since the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week and I've barely appeared on social media.
I've been nursing a sick 2 year old and fighting a cold. But in all honesty I just needed a break from all the posts (my own and everyone else's).
I wasn't expecting BLAW to be quite as draining and emotionally charged as it was. I wasn't expecting it to be just SO hard.
By day 2 of BLAW I was in tears. I didn't think I could get through the week and honour my commitment to post every day. I remember feeling overwhelmed with it all and saying 'if this is too much for me, I bet it's too much for people reading my posts, I bet they've had enough already'.
I could have stopped there and then.
But I didn't.
I didn't because I completely believe in the cause...to be the voice for so many who have experienced baby loss, to educate others so that we are better equipped to have conversations with those living through baby loss and to break the silence and stop this being a taboo.
And also, maybe most importantly, every person who is living life without their baby doesn't have a choice to just stop their feelings, their pain, their longing when it gets a bit too much. So I had a point to make too, that if this all felt too much for others to observe, they had the choice to stop reading, to look away, to ignore the posts in their feed. We don't have this choice. Our baby, our experience, our loss is a part of us, it doesn't just go away.
So I persevered. I got there. I made it to the end of the week and I somehow kept on posting!
And if the feedback is anything to go by, awareness is at another level to what it was before BLAW, eyes have been opened, people have been seen, people have been heard and people have been held and supported ❤❤❤
This it what has fueled my recovery this week. Aside from having cold, I feel good, I feel proud, I feel like this is just the start and with people like you who are willing to listen, willing to learn and willing to be the change, I truly believe that absolutely anything is possible 🙏🙏🙏
When you realize it’s only Tuesday... 😅 Sometimes life hands you lemons and you accidentally forget to add sugar. PayMF is reminding you that it’s okay to take a break and take a mental health day! After all, if you’re not in your right head space then how will the job ever get done😆
Where is your happy place (other than being with fam and friends)? My happy place is anywhere I can find some ME time. Women tend to forget to take care of themselves especially busy moms. Understandable and valid reasons but you gotta take care of yourself first so you can better care for others. Taking that short ME time break helps you hit that pause button and reboot your body, mind and spirit. #tiptuesday
My usual morning routine is wake up, eat breakfast, walk the dog, journal, go to the gym, come home and shower, then leave for work. But today I woke up and felt my body needed rest. I took my time getting out of bed, cuddled my pup longer, admired my flowers, took my time drinking tea, and promised to give myself the time I needed to fully wake up.
We don’t get this luxury enough. Our society runs on a to-the-second schedule. But I think it’s important to give yourself at least one day, morning, night, or weekend to allow yourself to just chiiiillllll. Maybe instead of running around the morning before work, pack what you need the night before so that you can sleep in. One weekend take a break from cleaning and sit back with a new book or watch a new movie. One night, give yourself a damn bubble bath because you deserve it.
The constant need to rush through life does nothing but heighten anxiety and quickly cause burnout.
This is your friendly reminder to take a moment for yourself today. Grab that iced tea you love, do a 10 minute meditation, or go to your favorite workout class. Managing work, life, and self-care can be quite challenging but even a few minutes for you can help! Meet the new Black tourmalinated Quartz pipe 👀 Tourmalinated Quartz protects us from the negative thoughts of our inner critic.
This stone is primarily made up of Quartz which is known as the Master Healer of the mineral kingdom and is often used for enhancing psychic abilities. It has the energetic property of amplification, focus, and programmability above all stones. Most crystal lovers know Quartz to be a great tool for manifestation and spiritual growth.⠀
The long, thick, dark 'threads' are Tourmaline inclusions which create an effective grounding stone that strengthens the body's own energy field. In addition to carrying the vibrational properties of both Tourmaline and Quartz, this stone balances elements and polarities; helping turn negative thoughts and energies into positive ones.⠀
⚡️Every pipe is unique! Find them now in our online shop⚡️⠀

Self care is a big deal, but *doing* it doesn't have to be. Sometimes a few minutes of just zoning out is exactly what your brain needs ☺ #simpleselfcare#bekindtoyourmind
And when was the last time you took a break?? Had this discussion with a patient today because she was depleted and overwhelmed from work. Most of the time my patients will say their last vacation was 4-5 mos ago and some say even a year! I know it's hard to take breaks, but please keep this post in mind next time you feel guilty for taking a break or a vacation. (PC: I always 💚 @chibirdart)
