Coaching is a professional career. It’s not a hobby. People are trusting you with the most important think they have...their health and wellness. It is our responsibility to make sure that our members are getting the highest level of coaching.

Comparison is the thief of joy.
People are spending more time than ever on social media. This is bad for a lot of reasons including your happiness.
You’re always looking at what this person just got that you don’t have. Seeing photos of people traveling the world while you live check to check. Wishing you had the “perfect” relationship like that couple you follow.
Stop. The only comparison that matters is within. Are you better in any way than you were yesterday?
Watching Doc play today he was so happy. I realized that a stick was making his day. That’s because he wasn’t worried about what other dogs are doing. What kind of toys they have or where they live. He wasn’t concerned with how he looked or what others think of him. Dogs view things in a much simpler way than we do. I think there’s something to be learned from that. Keep it simple. Do what makes you happy, avoid things that don’t. Live life on your own terms.

Here is a study looking at the cerebellum white matter volume in elite basketball players. Long story short, there was a larger amount of white matter in the cerebellum for these elite athletes. .
The cerebellum plays an important role in motor learning, balance, movement orchestration and fine motor skills as well error prediction in movement - when a motor engram is released and outcome is processed. .
Larger white matter in these areas may indicate a more adapted cerebellum. Thus, in turn possibly allowing for better prediction error, sensory processing and movement outcome (error based learning outcomes). The greater volume of white matter may be an outcome of proper skill development (exposure to the task and constraints around it). As coaches, we should then find ways to optimize motor learning through changing the internal environment (body’s state/fatigued systems) or external constraints (type of shot, how it is shot and defenders around)
