He appoints his Uber driver “Stu” to drive him across LA to fulfill his mission. Honestly thought it would be better than it was. It was STUpid 🤪 didn’t like at all. I haven’t gotten anything to eat aaaaaall day. I feel like I’m gonna pass tf out. I left my wallet and my bank cards at home and I walked a good 10 blocks in the freezing cold and rain and got my damn hair wet. Yes with no umbrella!!!! 11.18.19 - DISTRUST
Doodled a new Sapphire design last night. I haven’t really drawn her since graduating. For those who don’t know, Sapphire is the Angry Black Woman stereotype. She’s actually very tired of not being heard & has to yell/take control in order to get what she needs. All the while protecting her 💙.
It's one thing to feel some momentary shame, but it's another thing to internalize that shame and feel it ALL the time - Toxic Shame. .
Shame is not the same as guilt or remorse. GUILT is when you feel bad about something you did. SHAME is when you feel bad about who and what you are as a person. .
When you constantly tell yourself things that put you down... ..."I'm unworthy" ..."I'm defectice" ..."I'm ugly" ..."I'm unlovable" ..."I'm studpid" ..."I don't matter" ..."I'm a bad person" ... that's when shame has taken a really bad turn.
Toxic shame blinds you to your worthiness. It blinds you to the essence of who and what you are.
The good news is that this can be turned around with a bit of time and effort.
Here are some ways to get you started.
1. Awereness. Pay attention to your inner dialogue, when does it activate or intensify the most? .
2. Flip that inner dialogue with positive statements. For example replace "I'm ugly" with "I'm attractive", "I look great today" .
3. Allow yourself to be vulnerable, talk to someone you trust about how you are feeling. .
4. Forgive yourself and those who hurt you .
Remember to be kind to yourself. The things you say to yourself are probably things you would never say to someone you care about. Most importantly, remember that NOBODY is perfect.
