Inspired by Debrup Roy Photography, this image is reminiscent of my life in West Bengal connecting my hometown Kharagpur to the 'Next' big town Calcutta.
In search of opportunities in urban centers every minute, 25-30 people are migrating to Indian cities from rural areas looking for 'better' livelihood and lifestyles. A 'rural flight' that is evident in data with increasing population and search for better.

Debi Shoroshi. Done is Early Bengal Style
Acrylic on Canvas .
One of the ten Mahavidyas, Debi Shoroshi is often considered one of the chief goddesses among them and often identified with the Adi Parashakti or the Primordial element.
She is often depicted as the queen and her Dhyan Mantra gives her conceptualization. Here I provide a rough excerpt of her Dhyan Mantra as found in Tantrasara:
Goddess Shoroshi sits on a lotus, resplendent like the sunrays of the dawn and her complexion like that of hibbiscus or pomegranate. She is adorned with the sprakles of precious gems that are set on her crown. Her forehead is adorned with the crescent moon and her brows are curved like the Haradhanu. Her eyes are constantly fluttering in great delight. Her earrings are glittering like sunrays. Her full cheeks are like orbs of the sun and her nose is built to perfection by Bishwakarma. Her lips are like red berries and the sweetness of her smile are like the waves in the ocean of honey. Her chin is beautifully made . The great goddess has a neck like the coral and her palms like red lotus blooming at the ends of her youthful limbs. The glow of her nails on those red palms are enveloping the sky. Necklaces of pearls glorify her upraised breasts and the three folds of her midriff is lavishly decorated. Her navel is like a circle adorned with glow and her hips are decorated with invaluable gem stone studded sash. Her knees are like the ripe plantain stems and her thighs are young and alluring. She stands on her hills and her feet are outsteched, the thumbs bearing nails like crystals. Her lotus feel is adorned with the essence of Brahma and Vishnu, her body as if a collection of moonbeams . Her red glow defeats hibiscus and pomegranate. #bengal#art#hinduism#hindu#durga#goddess#india#indiaart#artindia#incredibleindia#artist#religion#shakti#devi#bengal#bengalart#kolkata#calcutta#ashlopujo
