Phew, a narrow escape...so far! The water came right up to the back wall of the shops. Really feeling for those who were not so lucky in Wales and beyond 💙
Last pic is of the fire brigade pumping the water back into the river from the other side of the flood defence! in order to save the Bull Pit from flooding.
Harbourside is a truly vibrant and unique part of Bristol with something to offer everyone and has become one of the most desirable places to live and visit in the city.
The convenience of the local restaurants, cafes and bars make it the perfect place to meet up with friends and relax while taking in the peaceful waterside vista. It's also a great place to keep fit with the new Run Harbourside Sports Trail, various watersports on offer and a new state of the art gym.
There are a whole host of attractions to enjoy, ranging from family days out to films and music from around the globe. You can also enjoy contemporary art and historical exhibitions.
Hotwells is a district of the English port city of Bristol. It is located to the south of and below the high ground of Clifton, and directly to the north of the Floating Harbour. The southern entrance to the Avon Gorge, which connects the docks to the sea, lies at the western end of Hotwells. The eastern end of the area is at the roundabout where Jacobs Well Road meets Hotwell Road. Hotwells is split between the city wards of Clifton, and Hotwells and Harbourside.

The Underfall Yard is a historic boatyard on Spike Island serving Bristol Harbour, the harbour in the city of Bristol, England.
Underfall Yard was commonly referred to as "The Underfalls" and takes its name from the underfall sluices. The original construction was completed in 1809 under the direction of William Jessop and substantially improved by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in the 1830s.
Restored in the 1990s, Underfall Yard has been designated as a scheduled monument and from the 1970s onward many of the buildings at Underfall Yard have earned Grade II Listed Building status. The harbour and its equipment are still actively maintained, and house a cooperative of maritime companies.
1/3 #River Scenes. #Bristol 's city centers round the bends of the #AvonRiver and the man-made docklands built to handle ships and cargo headed to the expanding reaches of the #British Empire. A replica of Venetian explorer #JohnCabot 's ship, the #MatthewofBristol . In 1497, under charter from the English crown, he was one of the first to sail down the north-eastern coasts of Canada and the U.S. since the vikings. Of course that history is complicated as that eventually led to colonization and slavery, of which Bristol did play a major part as a leading seaport. #travelrabble 500+ years ago.

Bristol Harbour is the harbour in the city of Bristol, England. The harbour covers an area of 70 acres (28.3 ha). It has existed since the 13th century but was developed into its current form in the early 19th century by installing lock gates on a tidal stretch of the River Avon in the centre of the city and providing a tidal by-pass for the river.
Punting on the Avon River🦆 even though I’ve lived in England my entire life, the first time I experienced punting, or visited the river Avon was in New Zealand🇳🇿 I really loved Christchurch, from the vibrant art scene and old fashioned trams to the laid back riverside bars 🎨🚃 However there were also so many empty spaces and abandoned buildings in the city that are a stark reminder of the massive earthquakes that almost entirely destroyed the city in 2010-11 and cost 185 people their lives💔 It was quite awe-inspiring to learn how the city dealt with the disaster and has rebuilt since 🏘
2/3 A Change of #Scenery . Coming from a city worthy of some serious #bridge envy, even this one wows. 1. It's a bit weird and overkill in how it sort of dominates the skyline. 2. It seems a bit of a folly for such a narrow crossing. And 3. #CliftonSuspensionBridge is completely charming and romantic as a landmark, for which #Bristol -ians must be extraordinarily proud. The #Victorian#engineering marvel crosses the #AvonRiver#Gorge as it nears the sea. It has shades of the Brooklyn and Tower bridges in it, and makes for a pleasant stroll or commute home. #travelrabble crossing.
