Canadian Winter Wonderland is an understatement ☃️ ↡
It was basically like one big scavenger hunt trying to go around this lake to find the best layers of methane bubbles under the ice. The wind was an absolute killer to go along with the frozen temperatures, but it was all worth it and then some to be able to witness this phenomenon with my own eyes 🧊. In certain lakes around Banff the methane bubbles freeze in these cool layers, we just didn’t know that we would find them at this specific lake but hey I’ll take it. ✌🏼

"I (20 yrs old) did the Ice Walk with my mom (who's 58) and we LOVED it. Such a great hike and so beautiful. Our tour guide was Heidi, she was very very knowledgeable and friendly and made the entire trip very entertaining. She picked us up right from our hotel in Banff, our group was only 10 people, and she dropped us off at the end too. If you go on your own, definitely make the trip to the upper falls, you won't be disappointed! Would highly recommend doing it with a guide though, Heidi had all kinds of info about the history of the canyon, the people who have lived there, and she pointed out a lot of stuff you would totally miss if you went alone, like fossils in the Rock walls, all the different types of vegetation and animals, and so much more. A ton of fun! Heidi if you're reading this you rock (no pun intended)."
Have you ever seen a more beautiful shade of blue? Moraine lake gets its colour from ground up rock flour entering the water and reflecting against the sun. 🇨🇦 Tag a friend you’d take here to see this lake in real life. 😍

Beautiful morning light at Moraine Lake🇨🇦 Here’s one from the archives. Back in 2018 we did a road trip across the country to get here. We happened to get the perfect morning light at this stunning place which was such an amazing feeling. I had wanted to go here forever so being able to see this place in such amazing conditions was a dream. Unfortunately when we got back, I don’t know what happened but I lost the source files for these shots after importing them into Lightroom. I was so mad, but I finally had the idea to screenshot this image and do a minimal edit to it, and that’s what this is. Could you tell it was a screenshot?

@kyle.fredrickson - Oh Canada...home to massive mountains, lakes so blue you will think they are fake, and $100/hr canoe rentals 😂. Worth it.
