#RunningWithBrendan - It’s race day 💃🏻💃🏻 Today I return to @Harewoodhouse as I’m running my first ever trail half marathon, I’m sure you’ve noticed how bad the weather has been over the past couple of weeks so my 13.1 mile run is going to be full of rain, mud & puddles…exciting right? 😅😫 I'm raising money for the @BritishHeartFoundation's research which you can donate to via this link https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/runningwithbrendan (In Bio) or I can accept cash donations if you let me know & I will collect after I complete the race. ❤️ Still home to the Lascelles family, Harewood House is a member of the Treasure Houses of England, a marketing consortium for ten of the foremost historic homes in the country. The house is a Grade I listed building and a number of features in the grounds and courtyard have been listed as Grade I, II and II*. Harewood has more than 100 acres of gardens, including a Himalayan garden and its stupa, an educational bird garden, an adventure playground and the historic All Saints' Church with its alabaster tombs.

Pictured is the grave of Edmund Vincent Scholey Pepper who was the director and secretary of Nunnery Colliery Company Limited. He died on the 23rd July 1937 and was buried here at Crookes Cemetery. Nunnery Colliery was situated near where the Parkway business park now stands, having opened in 1866. In 1923 the largest mining disaster in the city’s history occurred when a haulage rope broke on a train carrying workers in the mine. The train, picking up momentum as it descended an incline, crashed after travelling 377 yards, killing 7, leaving 8 with serious injuries and 40 with minor injuries. The mine remained open until the 1950’s.
FACT - Secluded cove just west of Challaborough and Bigbury-on-Sea
Ayrmer Cove is a shingle beach running into sand when the tide's out. There are extraordinary rock formations and sheer cliff faces on the west side of the cove. Footpaths lead inland to Ringmore or along the South West Coast Path.
