it's an icon's birthday! Happy 81st post humous birthday to the revolutional Fela Kuti. After his return from the US to Lagos Fela founded the African shrine Club.
He chose to sing in pidgin in English so that everyone including the Americans can understand his text.
Anyone who knew him well was aware that he was a nurturing democrat as much as a charismatic autocrat. Intensely loyal to friends and family and a profoundly generous man. 📷;: @tamster_c
Late thanksgiving post .... but is it really? ‘Thanksgiving Day’ shouldn’t be the only day set aside to show gratitude. Be thankful daily!
Be thankful to be alive to see another day.
Be thankful to be surrounded by your loved ones.
Be thankful to have a roof over your head.
Be thankful to have a job/school to go to.
Be thankful for all your adversities because they happened in order to prepare you for a greater good.
Be thankful for both your God’s given gifts as well as the gifts you attained on your life’s journey through the grace of God.
..... just be thankful every chance you get because so many people would kill to be in your position. Trust me !
On that note, I am so grateful to God for my life, my loved ones, my friends, you guys! I’m thankful for all the years on this earth, most especially for this year ... the way God came through for me this year still has me speechless.Thank you God 🙏🏾 Forever grateful, today, tomorrow and always♥️

Danielle's message to the world is simply, "learn to love yourself fully."
Hailing from the sunny island of Jamaica located just south of Cuba, Danielle has a personality that's as sunny as the isle from whence she came. Having been an English teacher in Japan for almost four years, Danielle said she loved her job, her school and her students. In her spare time she enjoys Acroyoga and singing. “What I love about Acroyoga is the community aspect. It’s not focused on being the best or being competitive, but building trust and having fun,” she said.
About a year ago, I ran into Danielle and a few others in the midst of Acroyoga in a park. I was inspired and wanted to join in. So I decided to attempt a backflip. To spare myself the embarrassment I think I’ll leave the results of that attempt to your imagination 😂
Acroyoga is a physical practice which combines yoga, acrobatics and Thai massage. According to Wikipedia, Acroyoga is arguably a bit of a misnomer as the popular movement worldwide is more commonly referred to by practitioners simply as Acro and includes all types of partner and group acrobatics in which at least someone is lifted. It's definitely a beautiful thing to watch, but it definitely takes practice.
As for singing, Danielle has a voice that rivals any mainstream singer you could call to mind. When I asked her what got her into singing, she said, "I've been singing since childhood with my family. It all started in church, family worship, singing with my brothers and in choirs." She comes from a family of singers, so you know she's good. You don't have to take my word for it. Head on over to her IG @missdaniellethomas. Prepare yourself though, because you'll be bawling your eyes out because of how talented she is.
Before you go I'll leave you with some useful life advice that Danielle shared during our interview, "Don’t listen to what people say, watch what people do. What a person does is who they are, not what they say."
If you'd like to learn more about Danielle's story, you can watch our full interview here: https://bit.ly/2BbKUjQ
If their introduction to your friends and relatives doesn't sound like a XDos EquisX commercial you are probably with the wrong MUSE... .
She yields the power of Loves arrow
And the humor of Cupid's crooked bow.
The length of her locs grow rapidly trying to match the strength of her stature.
She's made of fantasy and moon dust.
Follow her and end up in her arms...
Or be upset that you didn't.
Guardian of the heart...
Keeper of the flame... Universal heartthrob... There is Sunset in her eyes that makes you feel like you're marveling at the stars.
Let me tell you guys about the beaches in Sri Lanka!!They are so peaceful you can lost in the sound of the waves. The sand is the softest I’ve ever felt. Not grainy almost plush. When you step in the sand you softly sink you almost don’t notice it. The waves are a bright white, the water a pale blue and the sand a light gold. It’s so beautiful.

Wooosahhhh. Work life can be so exhausting. I find myself frequently thinking about the next get away or my bucket list of destinations. Traveling is honestly my stress reliever, just being away and for that moment not tending to my normal day to day responsibilities, is all that I can ask for. In an effort to not be overwhelmed by life, share some tips on how you relieve stress? What the most ideal place for you to kick back and be free from worry? #mindflown

Should I hire a photographer while exploring Melbourne? 🤔 ...Yes, yes I should! 🤗
I had an amazing experience exploring the street art scene in Melbourne! It was so nice to move away from the structured museums and see art in a different form. If not for @rakhulksphotography, there is no way I would have seen all the beautiful street art in the city. #swiperight#itsworthit#repost .
Amsterdam is definitely a place I tend to visit every year, it’s a MUST!
I can’t seem to get enough of the the GOOD VIBES I feel when I’m here!
However, next year I would love to try out Amsterdam in the summer!
WE ARE INDEED OUR ANCESTORS WILDEST DREAM!
It’s time to go home!
I’m always happy to see pics and videos of others traveling to the African continent. With so many countries to explore, the inspiration and wanderlust seems endless.
Although many of us African Americans are increasingly making our way across the Atlantic, the number needs to be greater. Thanks to “The Year Of Return” campaign by Ghana, tons of descendants of enslaved people are returning “home” and to other African countries. We must not stop, but continue for years to come.
We owe it to ourselves and our ancestors to step foot in the Motherland.
Be sure to check out my recent blog post discussing why more African Americans should be visiting Africa. Leave your thoughts and spread the word. The link is in my bio.
Have you been to the Africa? Are you planning on going? Tell me where!
