✨ A Escolha.
#qotd : What do you thing about my choices? Did you read any of them?
In "𝐀 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲," Timothy Egan makes the 1,200-mile journey from Canterbury to Rome along the Via Francigena "on foot, on two wheels, four wheels, or train — so long as I stay on the ground" as he attempts to rekindle his faith in the Catholic Church of his youth.
Most people think that the Camino de Santiago is the original pilgrimage route. However, Egan explains that this longer and the lesser-known way was the original route for pilgrims. The journey begins in England and Chaucer's Canterbury, onto France, and ends at the Vatican in Rome.
His journey and its many anecdotes can be read like a travelogue. Egan is the best at sharing history. His chronicling of the history of Christianity and Western Europe is both riveting and well informed.
Egan's main point of the book is to answer the big question many of us ask. Can we believe in faith, God, and religion while the world continues to be marred in a religious scandal, religious wars, and betrayal? He doesn't hold back in his opinion.
Though his pilgrimage doesn't end in clear answers, Eghan concludes with a better understanding of what kind of questions he needs to ask. His conclusion also includes an emphasis on Pierre Teilhard de Chardin's warning, "Joy is the most infallible sign of the presence of God."
For me, Egan's writing was exquisite weaving together history, religion, and a personal adventure story. All the ingredients that I find myself craving.
from living in one culture which really doesn’t like to talk about sex or believe that any of their daughters are doing it (it’s ok if their sons are)
reading about another culture where things are very similar and very different. the women i am reading about have chosen to break that taboo and it’s everything ❤️❤️❤️
Sex and Lies by Leïla Slimani is published by @faberbooks and is magnificent. It’s out now!

Hello people of bookstagram! I just came back from my 3 day trip to Goa (Yeay!). It was super awesome and I got my much needed break. Oh, and of course I visited bookstores in Goa. 🤷🏻♀️
This is a picture of one of the rooms of the Literati Bookshop and Cafe, Goa. The place is so calm and peaceful and there’s this old school aesthetic vibe that’s lovable.
Also, QOTD: Bookstores or Libraries?
AOTD: Both, but I am more inclined towards libraries ‘cause you can get anything from a library without thinking and spending hefty amount of money. Also, libraries are non-commercial set-ups, so the vibes are better!
My jewellery reminds me of Beauty and the Beast today which is one of my favourite princess tale! 👑
My cute crown ring and rose necklace in gold is from @mayasouq! Although, excuse my chubby fingers. Also, can you guess which book Iʼm trying to imitate the pose of?
All The Bright Places movie is now streaming on Netflix and Iʼm so excited to watch it! Not today, definitely but maybe next week when Iʼm less busy. Iʼm such a fan of both Elle and Justice. Excited to see their portrayal of Violet and Finch 🥰
I donʼt think Iʼll be able to finish my current read anytime soon hence Iʼll be posting my February reading update tonight. Not my proudest number but I understand that itʼs because Iʼve been busy with work this past month. Working on a March template now hehe 😏 Pretty sure Iʼll be reading A LOT in March because I will be having a lot of free time in my hands again 📖💕
Q: Do you prefer wearing excessive jewellery or simple jewellery?
A: Definitely simple. I only do excessive on big events only (weddings, formal events, etc.)
Get lost into the waves, into the deepest thoughts you have. Create the reality you want to escape into, and never stop yourself from achieving and dreaming big. Lose yourself in the deepest dreams.. .
Review: If Cats Disappeared form the World
This book is translated from Japanese and is something like a novella although it is classified as a novel.
This book was alright but I expected more. Our protagonist find out that he doesn’t have many days to live. The devil appears and gives him an extra day to live in exchange of making one thing disappear from the world.
This book makes you think about the things you take for granted and how the absence of something can make a difference. The subject matter here is one that will make you think but the book wasn’t as thought provoking and profound as I thought. I really liked the premise here, the devil giving a day in exchange of removing something from the world. The writing did not bring out the underlying meaning the author wanted to convey here and I have a feeling that the translation played a role.
If you are looking for a book translated form Japanese and touching on the subject of mortality and the things you take for granted, this might work for you.

@owlcrate does it again with another incredibly well designed exclusive color, this edition is by far one of my favorite owlcrate has worked on yet. I can't wait to read this one! Bring on the mermaids, pirates and a fighty princess! ~
Shout-out to @henriette.carlsen for providing reading material for me while I visit because I like traveling light. I did actually have intentions to read The Modern Break-up, but I have been putting it up because I cannot stand self-help books or books that pretend not to be self-help but try to be, but I tried to give it a fair chance. The concept was interesting. Reading this one felt like sitting in a coffee shop overhearing a group of friends chatting which in theory is a cute concept, but I found the entire book very underwhelming. I wasn`t a fan of the writing and felt the characters were flat and two-dimensional, with heavy dialogue that at one point was driving me a little crazy. It`s trying to be a romance story while also delivering some kind of information about the modern dating world and valuable lessons, but it didn`t quite do the trick for me. I think my main problem was that it`s written by a man in a women`s perspective, and it all came across as unrealistic and a little cringe-worthy. I`m being very negative here, so much for self-improvement, but at least it made a cute photo and entertained me while I got ready for the day.

Laced with experiences of her own travels to several pilgrimage spots in the Himalayas where the river originates in the Gangotri, these opening chapters are some of the most insightful in explaining the centuries-old pilgrim obsession with ‘pure Ganga water.’ The most incredible start of the book would be if the reader first reads the author biography. The line that the author has been ‘fascinated by Ganga from her childhood, when she found that the Kolkata Municipal supply water was Gangajaal’. Trust me I broke into a laughter when I heard this, one could wash idols and even wash of all sins of eating ‘non veg’ in a just a sink handwash. That was a great start to the book.
Superhuman River, divided in three parts, Himalayas, Plains and Deltas shows you the complete of the river. Chapters in each of these parts show you insights into the river’s lifeline and vast expanse of powers. Travelogue in its spirit, and non fiction in its form, this book deserves to be read by every world citizen to see how one river shapes and transforms India with its meandering flow and radiating holiness and power.
👿 Sebelum Iblis Menjemput Ayat 2 👿.

🔥🔥 COVER REVEAL 🔥🔥 Nobody But You by Megan Green is coming March 19!
Former firefighter Mason Cooper knows how it feels to be burned, both by life and by flame.
Still, nothing could have prepared him for life’s ultimate task—single fatherhood. As the sole provider for his little girl, there’s simply no room in his carefully constructed life for distractions.
When a stray dog lands him in the office of the new local vet, Mason comes face to face with a major complication. Because the new vet in town is none other than his childhood friend, Madeline Woods, the same girl who up and left him without a trace.
Gorgeous, smart, and thoughtful—the more time Mason spends with Maddy, the more he finds himself questioning whether she’s the thing he and his daughter have been missing all along.
But being with Maddy is like playing with fire, and while a little heat might be nice, can he trust her not to burn them both?

‘Because the price of meat in the shops is so expensive’ he replied. By the way of explanation, he told the detectives that he only consumed the flesh of those victims who were young and tender.’
Well what a gruesome book that was! Each chapter was a different story some who are well know and that I have read about before and a whole heap that I was not aware of.
The book is easy to read and follow along with although at times the book is extremely gory - after all it is about the most notorious serial killers who dismembered and took pleasure in eating their victims.
I found it so interesting that majority of the man and women in the stories had served time in the army, continued to kill people due to police mistakes in trying to investigate and capture them and that a lot of them died in prison of heart conditions. So many commonalities between the cases.
Overall, the book was an interesting read and if you are interested in serial killers this one is for you.
Thank you to Pen & Sword and Netgalley for the eARC, in exchange for an honest opinion.

QOTD: What book series are you obsessed with right now? 🙌🏻
I am completely obsessed with the #cursebreakers series! I.e. A Curse so Dark and Lonely! 🙊 I also adored A Heart So Fierce and Broken. The characters were so vivid and well written—and the world building was incredible!
What’s everyone reading today? I’m listening to more of The Flat Share on my way to uni this morning 🏡
Hey guys how's it going @factandfictiondesigns Friday!! (You guys can do this too if you want) today I'm going to be recommending some books based on @factandfictiondesigns' leather Prince and Princess bookmark (use my code in the bio if you're interested especially with some new tumblers coming to the shop) I love this bookmark because it reminds me of a disney movie dance scene gorgeous!! Royalty is definitely a theme I always enjoy but I need a variety of it.
Onto the books!! 👑Reflection/Records of the Ohanazee series by Rachel R Smith: This series is very unique in the sense of there's a lot of asian inspired political royal intrigue, swordplay, romance with crystal magic as well as a ton of twists and turns that I cannot spoil. If this is intriguing to you please check out this series! 🎎Yona of the Dawn manga: I'm sure if you are a manga/anime fan like myself you probably have already read or watched this but if you're looking for something that is with Asian royal fantasy elements with twists and turns and you want to read a manga this is definitely one to put on your list. 👸 My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brody Ashton, and Jodi Meadows: Moving away from the Asian inspired political fantasies, this is a western royal historical fiction fantasy about Lady Jane Grey who was Queen of England for 9 days with a little fun twist. If you enjoy this setting plus enjoy a ton of humor check this out!! 🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴🤴
These are again only a few I have read but definitely fit this bookmark to a T. What about you guys can you recommend me some royal books/manga that are must reads?? Let's talk about it!! #factandfictiondesigns#factandfictionrepost#factandfictionfridays#bookstagrammer#bookstagramfeature#bookstagram#avidreaderfeature#avidreader#bookstagrammersunite#royalty#bookrecommendations#indieauthors#myladyjane#yonaofthedawn#historicalfiction#asianfantasy#rachelrsmith#recordsoftheohanzeeseries#leatherbookmarks#unique#beautifulart
This is huge! Cover story in TGIF supplement of Sikkim Express, the top newspaper in Sikkim. A moment to cherish! A big thanks to @vjthethunderbolt Sir, @d_e_we Baini, and the Sikkim Express team for featuring me. Truly honored! 🙂 🙏
The Fragile Thread of Hope is available at a bookstore near you and on Amazon.
Finally it Friday which mean my day off🕺🏻
While having a full time job is not that easy your day off turns to be a day of full work too or at least for me, the moment I wake up the craziness begins from taking care of Luna, taking pictures then read a bit to ending on the floor crying because I ran out of time 😂
QOTD: what do you do in your day off , other than reading any activities ?
Do you guys keep track of your TBR list ? I didn't until recently. I thought I had about 10 and I vaguely knew where they were on my shelves. Well... Turns out i actually have more than 30😱
I had no idea 😱
It kinda put things into perspective. I'm probably going to stop buying books for a while🤣 my apartment is way too small to justify so many unread book 🙈
What do you use to keep track of everything in your shelves?

How often do you literally laugh out loud?? Have you ever wondered how less and less we laugh and smile these days?
Even in book genres, we have so less in comedy, all we have these days are YAs and fantasies and books on social issues. We need some books to clam our mind down too.
I recently came across this amazing book which not just made me laugh harder till my stomach hurted but also gave me emotional insights. I will highly recommend it to everyone, you won't regret.
Mrs. Arpita Basu, the only daughter-in-law of Basu family, is here to tell you a story that will leave your stomach hurting with chuckles and laughter. A Chudail to her prim mother-in-law, inexistent to the devil father-in-law, a damped down bomb to her once best friend Naveena and well, nothing whatsoever to her own husband Akash, the 23-year-old finds herself questioning the very concept of familism as her six months of tumultuous married life is hit with unanswerable questions sprouting every now and then in her head.
Speaking of head, what do you think is its importance in Mrs. Basu's life? Oh boy, you're in for a surprise! Because the quirks of their tongue-in-cheek relationship is bound to make you split your sides.
However, in a split second Mrs. Basu's life goes kaput as her dark past comes knocking at the door. While she struggles to keep it at bay, her husband leaves her side with no promise of coming back ever.

this has been the longest i have ever gone without posting, however, I have had good reason since the start of my semester at university (if you didn’t know). since then i have been studying and reviewing a lot.
anyway before university started i read so much books and one of my favourite reads so far this year is the night circus 🎪
THE NIGHT CIRCUS
read from: JAN 31 - FEB 13 2020
“𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐚 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐮𝐩 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞'𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐥, 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭, 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞, 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭.”
5/5 stars — utterly in awe of this magical tale, it encompasses the definitive state of a dream and wondering if your life outside the circus is nothing but one.

I'm old-fashioned and think that reading books is the most glorious pastime that humankind has yet devised.
Goodbye days by @jeffzentner 📖
"Depending on who--sorry,whom ---you ask, I may have killed my three best friends"
Carver Briggs is blamed of criminally negligent homicide, he's only 17 and been to 3 funerals already in past one week, of his best friends'. Story revolves around the friends and family of "Sauce Crew" -> Carver, Blake,Mars and Eli, what happens after 3 of them gets killed in a car accident, possibly because of Carver!
Yeah, all he did was sending a text asking their whereabouts.
Complicated? It was for me, how can they blame Carver for that?
His mistake was that texting someone (Mars) knowing that he might be driving and Mars would respond no matter - And he did, we know this, because the phone was found with half-typed text to Carver.
Under Tennessee law, there's an offense called criminally negligent homicide which happens when someone takes a substantial and unjustifiable risk and the failure to perceive it constitutes a gross deviation from the standard of care that an ordinary person would exercise under all the circumstances as viewed from the person's standpoint.
All through the book, I was either sobbing or emotionally frustrated about how can they blame a 17- year old of homicide when all he did was a harmless text.
Don't we all text someone or the other, be that day or night, knowingly or unknowingly what they are upto at that moment? If they 'choose' to respond while driving ,isn't that upon them than the original sender?
Goodbye days is a beautifully written, heartbreaking story of loss and grief and moving on and about even in the worst situations, how can sometimes it gets further worse. Their grief was mine too, when they cried I cried with them , I think I almost felt the loss 💔
You are in for a treat if you want to read an YA minus usual young love drama🙃

I remember the good old Wattpad days, in 2015(?) where we’d have to wait fevers week for a new chapter from @annatodd. .
This book has been on my bookshelf since it came out, I’m not sure why I even bought it. Why do we love our authors so much, we’d literally buy everything they publish without a blink? 🙈🤣. .
This is really something unique, an interesting book. First of all the title itself is eminently unique. 'Assalamualaikum Watan' is a book, that talks about the contribution of Muslims to India's Pre-Independence and Post-Independence phases.
Muslim representation in parliament increased marginally from the previous election from 4% to 4.95% which is still negligible.
The rise of the Opposition in the 1970s created more avenues for Muslim representation, although the socialists did not include many of them in their organisations or among their candidates. Post 1980, Muslim representation declined steadily in a backdrop of strong communalisation of politics. The BJP’s rise, which occurred over this period, did not create the political marginalisation of Muslims instead, it amplified the trend as it conquered more political space.
The freedom movement of India was not the sole agenda of a particular political party but it had moved aam aadmi in the form of masses in his/her own capacity. The history of Indian national movement would be biased and incomplete without the presentation of the actual role of Indian Muslims in it, right from the revolt of 1857 to the day of Independence in 1947.
Author has touched very sensitive topics in a very light and positive way. Very factual information about the rise and decline of Muslim Community. Apart from the Muslims, the author has also discussed about other minority community i.e about the Parsis and Sikhs. I got to know about the enthusiastic personality of Sanjay Khan. He survived 65 percent of the third degree burn at the age of 47. Author has quoted about his experiences with his family, friends, political faces and industrialists and also drawn attention towards his many achievements over the time. Loved the narration, very poetic and personified. Language is basic yet impactful.
