While there are lots of nice cafe around there is not always easy to find one that actually fits your mood and has the drinks and foods you like. Most of the popular cafe a lot of time is very busy and noisy.
Yesterday after a hectic week all I want is to sit down and wind down with a cup of nice Matcha Latte. @thewhiskfinepatisserie is a cosy little pastry shop and cafe tuck behind a shopping complex under neath apartment at Upper Mt Gravatt.
So glad to find this cafe. Sit down with a cup of warm Matcha 🍵 latte and freshly made store made almond croissant. Matcha latte is not too sweet which I really like but I think could do with a bit more Matcha taste. And most importantly it’s not noisy at all so relaxing especially when they play a relaxing jazz music 🎶 for a Sunday morning.
For me this cafe has all the ingredients for a great cafe for wind down and catch up with friends on weekend. 💕 this cafe. Service was also good. Will be back for sure
A little fact: expert said we eat more when we eat with loud music and vice versa. I think it’s true. So indeed having the right music is so important at meal time. Time to start pairing music with food 🥘 not just wine😄

The amazing thing is you can watch the staff cook your dish right behind the cashier!! It’s like an Asian vapiano! So cool.
I tried their laksa today. Bloody good. Lots of chicken, tofu and bean curd. Yum. I’ll be coming here to try everything else in the future when I travel 🛫

Something I’ve been thinking about a bit recently is how accessible nutrition ‘information’ is in the current day and age. You only have to look at the >43 million posts tagged #nutrition to see how abundant this topic is😅😅 After doing a fair amount of research into specific nutrition topics this semester, and also recently starting @drnikkistamp ‘s new book ‘Pretty Unhealthy’, it’s really brought the whole Instagram nutrition debate to the forefront of my mind🤔
Don’t get me wrong - I think Instagram is an incredible platform to share recipes, inspiration and motivation✨ BUT, it concerns me that social media has become almost like gospel for seeking nutrition advice. Influencers and celebrities alike have a massive amount of power over their followers, and the ease with which false and potentially dangerous information spreads *can be* harmful. Now obviously not everyone has the time, energy, effort or desire to research the nuances of nutrition, but there are some key questions I’d ask yourself if you ever come across dubious information online:
• Is a certain nutrient/food being singled out as inherently good or bad?
• Is this person recommending cutting out entire food groups?
• Does this person have something to gain from promoting a certain diet/way of eating (i.e. financial gain)?
• Are they promoting a one-size-fits-all approach (i.e ‘X diet is the ONLY way to be healthy’)? -
If the answer is yes to some of these questions, then maybe consider taking a step back and seeking information elsewhere😌 Some of my favourite dietitians/dietitians-to-be/educational figures include @rhitrition@thefoodmedic@marikaday@thehealthylabel@tom_dietitian@fineprintfood@the_dietologist@compeat_nutrition@thebitingtruth@movingdietitian just to make a few! What to expect 👉 When you walk in, they have a band centre stage, scary characters roaming around, smoke machines galore, and blood vans selling drinks to keep you hydrated. Most of the rides are running as per usual.
BUT the best part are the mazes! You walk in, single file, holding the shoulders of the person in front & walk through a scary maze with things & people popping out everywhere. There are 5 mazes to choose from - The House of Kain was my favourite. Don't get too scared of the lines. They're long but they do move fairly quickly. If you don't get the fast track pass, you'll probably fit in 2 or 3 (which is plenty). If you do get a fast track pass, you'll be dancing past the queues.
We also added on the Dark Panic Room. Aka an escape room. They take 20 mins with a series of puzzles & locks. We got out with 3 minutes to spare! It's $80 & you can have upto 6 people in the room.

🔹Self-indulgence makes you feel good in the moment and allows you to avoid the problem, but it doesn’t create any long-lasting benefit.
🔹Whereas true self-care is when we use our time, and knowledge to create a life we don’t want to escape from.
🔹When our knowledge increases our problems shrink, when our knowledge stays the same or decreases our problems continue to become BIGGER and BIGGER.
🔹When we get higher in our knowledge, we can see our problems in PERSPECTIVE.
When I first see this, my first reaction is ‘I need cartons of it’. I’m the one with a Goldfish memory in the family and I suppose that’s the reason I don’t do well in exams. Why didn’t Lotte innovate this Memory Enhancing Gum earlier? I may probably do well enough in exams to turn out to be a doctor or lawyer if this was invented earlier. 😂

We started at ➡️@sukirestaurants with a poke bowl and karaage chicken (always a good start), worked our way to ➡️@pengyoukitchenbar for their satay chicken skewers and some yumcha.
Next up➡️ @milkylaneofficial for a cheese burger and mushroom & cheese balls 😍.
Lastly we went to ➡️ @hatchandco_ for some beef tartare, insanely tender lamb, and duck 👌.
We ran out of time before we could make it to @mecca.bah before it closed, but there’s always next time 😉.
