Which star are you?
Coming January 2020
Spotlight magazine is here to illuminate that line of work that you are so good at!
As editor-in-chief, my job is Spotlighting everyday heroes in our local communities. We discover, explore and unpack global research, generating reports, news and stories.
In case you missed our gazillion stories we spent the weekend touring 11 of the breweries on the Bucks County Ale Trail.
Swipe to see the beer that was enjoyed at each location. We’ll have a full tour review and recap soon!
Couldn’t pass up hiking with Patti on yet another gorgeous 60-degree November day. Significantly fewer leaves on the trees since my last hike here just a few weeks ago. Note the climbing ropes anchored just below one overlook. We never did see the climber. 🧗♂️ #buckscounty#visitpa
Who else loves to snack on cactus? What? No one else? Just means more for Torrie then! Believe it or not cactus pads are like candy for certain reptiles like tortoises and iguanas. Many of these species live in arid climates so plants like cactus provide them with valuable sources of water! Additionally, cactus pads are high in calcium which is important in maintaining healthy bones and shells!

Going to yoga class like...
We made it into a Musical kids yoga class today at Airmid wellness. We tried different sizes of handpan, and played a game where matched our movements to the sound of my guitar.

It's that time friends, when enjoying time on the water we need to ensure our cold water gear is with us. Here's a couple tips to prolong your enjoyment on paddle boards. -
First step...get yourself
some 5/6 ml booties to protect your feets. Next step paints...I have 3/2 ml leggings for sunny days..if I need more protection I'm going with my full wetsuit with a long sleeve or jacket layers over top. Hats and gloves become necessary as we drop into the lower 30's, 40's and 50's. -
For flat water like lake Nockamixon or even the river don't paddle alone in cold water. Wear your life jacket and leash!!! The last thing you want is to fall into cold water with no protection to help you get back to your board or land. This time of year I always carry a thermal blanket in my dry bag as a back up. Cold water can not just ruin your day but it can be very dangerous. It might not be as "cool or eye catching " as your bathing suit. But I'd rather be less cool and enjoy more paddle days to come. -
When we get into the really cold months, dry suits are the best options. As cumbersome as they are to put on, you'll be able to paddle all year long here in the north east. Got questions about gear? DM ME. I can point you in the right direction. 📸 @martyfm

If you’re the parent of a toddler, I’m sure you’ve heard the words “I do it!!” many times. Ellie is hardcore going through this discovering her own independence thing and sometimes it can get frustrating when a simple task now takes forever.
However, the other day she said something that made me look at this in a new light. I was putting her in her booster seat and she now likes to push the clip in on her own while I hold it. The other day when she did, she excitedly exclaimed “I HELPED MOMMY!” I said “yes you did!” and realized that sometimes when she wants to do everything herself it’s because she wants to help.
So whether it’s her wanting to feed me apples or put her shoes on herself or feed Zeney, I do believe a part of it is her wanting to help.
Does your child do this too? Maybe next time you are frustrated with the tantrums because you did something they wanted to do (trust me, I’ve been there ha) consider that they just wanted to help and/or wanted you to be proud of something they did on their own. ❤️
