My Rattlesnake Calathea. Tell me that purple pot doesn’t work perfectly with the underside of those leaves. I got this guy a few weeks ago and finally got to repotting and trimming him up. After taking out some of the spent leaves he looks amazing. I’m a total foliage junkie. 😍🌱 #rattlesnakecalathea#calathealancifolia#foliageplants

let’s talk; rattlesnake plant (calathea lancifolia)
ever since i got this plant, i felt like it straight up hated me. i just couldn’t figure what would make her happy. but now after a few weeks of trying i see some improvement! she gave me two new pretty leaves and i’m not seeing new brown spots. i’m so proud of her!!
i misted her more then i did before, and sometimes when i take a bath i just let her watch me and chill for a while. idk she seems happy now so i’m happy as well!!
but i’m not gonna jinx anything... she might switch up on me very soon😂
Look at this colorful beauty! 🌿🌈
This Calathea Lancifolia is also known as ‘The living plant’ as he goes to sleep at night and closes its leaves, and in the morning he will show its beautiful leaves again!
How cool is that?😎
When I'm not feeling well, I like to just go sit in my jungle and observe my queendom grow. There is something so serene and grounding about it. I hurt my back a couple of days ago so there has been lots of time spent with these gals. They're my little slice of heaven. What's your best tip on healing yourself?
I haven't been successful keeping these beauties around! I really do love them 🍃☘🌿🌱💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚. I've purchased about 6 different types so far🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️. Are you having much success with any plant in this collection? Which one(s)?
General care tips:
🌤: Will THRIVE in bright indirect light; can TOLERATE medium light (5 ft away from a window). NOT. LOW. LIGHT.
💦: If it gets a lot of light, it needs to be watered more frequently. Some can tolerate their soil drying out a bit (but NEVER completely dry), but the majority likes it MOIST. Using a moisture meter helps! I use distilled water, but it’s coz I’m extra.
Fertilize lightly because these are sensitive babies!
Fun fact: the first plant I ever killed was a Calathea 🤷🏻♀️
