It’s been almost exactly two years. Two years since I was in a car accident that left me with what feels like a never ending head and neck injury. Two years and 4 months since I decided I was going to be a wedding photographer. Yeah, 4 months after deciding I was going to start my own business, I ended up in a car accident. Perfect timing.. 🙄Here I am two years later. Trying to work a full time job, grow my business, still be present with friends and family, all while trying to heal. I have come a looooong way but still have a long way to go in getting better. Most people wouldn’t know I have chronic neck pain and headaches along with a long list of other post concussion symptoms because no one can see this type of injury. It’s only the people that see me everyday, talk to me everyday, work with me everyday that truly know I’m not 100%
Anyways, the real reason I started on this tangent was because recently, I realized that no matter how much I hurt, no matter how much I complain to Hayd before I leave to go to a shoot, as soon as I get my camera out and start doing my thing, I am SO invested in it and LOVE it so much that I forget I’m in pain!
How friggen lucky am I to have a job that temporarily allows me to feel normal?
Even though I feel way worse afterwards, it is 100% worth the temporary relief.
I am so lucky to get to do what I love. I am even luckier to be almost fully booked for 2020 weddings!
So thank you. Thank you to everyone that has supported me along the way. Thank you to those that understand I’m not always able to spend the time I want to with them. Thank you to anyone that has helped me with tasks I couldn’t complete on my own. Thank you @devy2tn for literally everything, from understanding my small freak outs when I think a car is going to hit us allll the way back to the very beginning when you had to blow dry my hair for me. I honestly can’t thank you enough. When I was in my darkest days, in excruciating pain, you were the reason I made it through the day.

To first look or not to first look. That is the question.
My personal opinion is that I love a first look 👀💕
For couples who are nervous about blubbering through their vows in front of all their friends and family a first look offers an equally as intimate a moment as seeing each other when you walk down the aisle.
As an added bonus you can also choose to read your vows to each other in a really personal and intimate setting where it’s just the two of you (and me 😁)
I’m not going to lie. The tears were flowing while I watched Jinyoung and Meng exchange vows just the two of them before the ceremony while they read personally written listers to each other. *chokes back tears as I type this*
So what are your thoughts? Are you pro first look? Or do/did you decide to save it for the ceremony?

This weekend, I’m starting a secret project that I have been brewing up for a few months. It’s finally happening and I’m so SO SOOOOOO excited to be able to share it with you when everything is ready to be announced. I have my girl @sophiefortierphoto helping me out and I’m forever thankful for this girl cheering me on, pushing me to be better and making me get off my ass and start this this sooner than I was planning to! A week and a half ago, I was in Richmond, Virginia where I experienced the most rewarding, fulfilling, inspiring, and encouraging event of my life! 📷 @katelynjames has been my photography mentor for two years now, and I wouldn't have wanted to learn what I have about the wedding photography industry from anyone else! One year ago, Katelyn released a Business course for her students. This course wasn't like a regular business course... This course was created to empower photographers to grow purposeful and profitable businesses.

When the course launched, those of us who signed up were invited to attend Katelyn's live event the following December! I just knew I had to go! I had to meet her, finally, and thank her for the many ways she has helped me change and shape my business. Almost 400 of her students travelled to Richmond for the live event, and I've made so many new friends from it!

One of the things I've learned throughout this business journey is to celebrate my wins! Because, as Katelyn said, "When we neglect celebrating our wins, we slowly sacrifice our motivation". So... Here I am! Celebrating HUGE wins for myself: meeting my mentor, building a personal brand, showing up more, creating an amazing experience for my brides and grooms, and finding the purpose in my passion. 😍

I will be unapologetically posting a couple photos in a row from this wedding, because @jennag1984 & @keith_r17 were the absolute best, and their wedding details as equally amazing. I get inspired by the ambiance of the wedding day, from the emotions floating around, to the floral installations, to the different lighting conditions throughout the day. It’s a day filled with so many moving parts, different opinions, different influences, and when it all comes together it can make for a beautiful experience for everyone.
