It’s been almost exactly two years. Two years since I was in a car accident that left me with what feels like a never ending head and neck injury. Two years and 4 months since I decided I was going to be a wedding photographer. Yeah, 4 months after deciding I was going to start my own business, I ended up in a car accident. Perfect timing.. 🙄Here I am two years later. Trying to work a full time job, grow my business, still be present with friends and family, all while trying to heal. I have come a looooong way but still have a long way to go in getting better. Most people wouldn’t know I have chronic neck pain and headaches along with a long list of other post concussion symptoms because no one can see this type of injury. It’s only the people that see me everyday, talk to me everyday, work with me everyday that truly know I’m not 100%
Anyways, the real reason I started on this tangent was because recently, I realized that no matter how much I hurt, no matter how much I complain to Hayd before I leave to go to a shoot, as soon as I get my camera out and start doing my thing, I am SO invested in it and LOVE it so much that I forget I’m in pain!
How friggen lucky am I to have a job that temporarily allows me to feel normal?
Even though I feel way worse afterwards, it is 100% worth the temporary relief.
I am so lucky to get to do what I love. I am even luckier to be almost fully booked for 2020 weddings!
So thank you. Thank you to everyone that has supported me along the way. Thank you to those that understand I’m not always able to spend the time I want to with them. Thank you to anyone that has helped me with tasks I couldn’t complete on my own. Thank you @devy2tn for literally everything, from understanding my small freak outs when I think a car is going to hit us allll the way back to the very beginning when you had to blow dry my hair for me. I honestly can’t thank you enough. When I was in my darkest days, in excruciating pain, you were the reason I made it through the day.
Annnnd if you’ve made it this far into the post, thank you. I am so grateful for everyone’s support and am SO EXCITED for all my 2020 weddings!

"I will love you always. When this red hair is white, I will still love you. When the smooth softness of youth is replaced by the delicate softness of age, I will still want to touch your skin. When your face is full of the lines of every smile you have ever smiled, of every surprise I have seen flash through your eyes, when every tear you have ever cried has left its mark upon your face, I will treasure you all the more, because I was there to see it all. I will share your life with you, Meredith, and I will love you until the last breath leaves your body or mine." ― Laurell K. Hamilton
I pray to find someone who looks at me like the way he still looks at her ❤️
We are all unique in our own way and each couple is unique in their own way.
Its my job as a photographer to create a space of comfort to allow you to be yourself. Come as you are and we will find away to capture your relationship in the most truest form possible.
Engagement session is just another excuse to have an epic date with your partner. It's laid back. It's all about you.
I feel the vibe
And we just have a good time
”Mary has an innate ability to bring out honest joy when photographing you. We felt so comfortable during the shoot. Neither of us are used to having our photos taken and she made the whole experience a total blast. Her joyous attitude and giant smile are crazy contagious and she’s just a treat to be around. We couldn’t be happier with the photos either! Such a beautiful, honest capturing of our relationship in all its silliness”. Thank you Mary. ♥️
In that note my 2020 weddings dates are filling up. Please contact me as soon as possible if you connect with my work. Let's connect and create memories.

Winter engagement photos are cozy and snowy and magical and BONUS no one is ever around otherwise popular parks + areas so it's just the two of you (plus your awkward third wheel👋🏼)

Praise God its Friday, am I right! Listen i don't know where you are or what your going though but today I just want to tell you, its gonna be alright. This time of year is SO FLIPPING STRESSFUL, and its ok. More then that, Its normal to feel like its not ok, but don't stay there.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You're so much bigger and stronger then your transient feelings that only depict a version of the reality.

Oh my gosh! I’m SO excited to share this intimate & beautiful elopement I had the pleasure of photographing a few weeks ago! The Moffat House is always an amazing place for photos in our frigid Saskatchewan winters. Of course we had to sneak outdoors for photos too because snowy winter photos are always to die for! 😍

A week and a half ago, I was in Richmond, Virginia where I experienced the most rewarding, fulfilling, inspiring, and encouraging event of my life! 📷 @katelynjames has been my photography mentor for two years now, and I wouldn't have wanted to learn what I have about the wedding photography industry from anyone else! One year ago, Katelyn released a Business course for her students. This course wasn't like a regular business course... This course was created to empower photographers to grow purposeful and profitable businesses.
When the course launched, those of us who signed up were invited to attend Katelyn's live event the following December! I just knew I had to go! I had to meet her, finally, and thank her for the many ways she has helped me change and shape my business. Almost 400 of her students travelled to Richmond for the live event, and I've made so many new friends from it!
One of the things I've learned throughout this business journey is to celebrate my wins! Because, as Katelyn said, "When we neglect celebrating our wins, we slowly sacrifice our motivation". So... Here I am! Celebrating HUGE wins for myself: meeting my mentor, building a personal brand, showing up more, creating an amazing experience for my brides and grooms, and finding the purpose in my passion. 😍
Thank you so much Katelyn and the James and Alsop families for all the hard work you do and have done over the past year! ❤

Vineyard sessions for dayssss. We were so lucky because we were able to use a family friends private property. It was so stunning and I already want to go back to Naramata. Someone take me back please!!! Haha, also did you catch my latest blog post? It’s a gooder -> Link in bio! -
I will be unapologetically posting a couple photos in a row from this wedding, because @jennag1984 & @keith_r17 were the absolute best, and their wedding details as equally amazing. I get inspired by the ambiance of the wedding day, from the emotions floating around, to the floral installations, to the different lighting conditions throughout the day. It’s a day filled with so many moving parts, different opinions, different influences, and when it all comes together it can make for a beautiful experience for everyone.
GUYS. Other than my family and friends 😂 (sorry guys), I am TOTALLY caught up on editing!!! And everyone’s galleries have been delivered!!! .
I have a few more things on my to do list to finish up and then it’s full on Christmas vacation in our house!! 🙌🏼Bring on the festive sangria and boozy eggnogs 😍 .
**These guys were the last client gallery that needed to be delivered for 2019. Definitely ended the year on a fabulous note. ♥️

Throwback to the time I climbed up the most rickety fire escape to capture an image I had been seeing in my mind for months. I had been waiting all year to create something like this, and when we did a walkthrough a week before Mel and Kyle's wedding, I saw that the opportunity was there. All I needed was some serious sunlight. I got extremely lucky for having the sunniest day to work with and this whole crew of amazing people that made up Mel and Kyle's wedding party. Cheers to trying new things, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I am very happy that I tried. With that being sad, I can't believe we have only a handful left this year, wow what a year it has been.

Just the best! 🥰 Intimate and relaxed vibes dominated at this winter wedding in Clear Lake at @staylakehouse, it was beyond perfection 🙌🏻 Congrats Amanda + Brenlee!!
Hey it's our mini-me's!!
Did you know we only started photography 5 years ago?! I was on maternity leave after having Isla, we'd just moved from the big city to our small little coastal town, and Sean would take our car to work everyday, leaving me stranded at our little house in the woods with 3 year old Cohen and newborn Isla. After a few months, I was starting to run out of things to do with the kids during the day (and started going a little stir crazy) when one day I found my old canon rebel T3i in a box and was like "HEY, I'm gonna learn how to use this thing!!" + with the help of a google search bar, and free youtube videos, I started practicing on the kids daily, and this fire ignited in my heart. 😍🙏🏻💓🔥
After a few months I was feeling more confident and started posting in local facebook groups, (this was way before I was even on instagram!) doing family shoots + couples shoots almost every day just to learn + soak up as much as I could! and then just like that, within one year, we'd shot our first weddings, and the referrals started to snowball - we were so busy that Sean was able to hand in his resignation at work + jump in with both feet to doing this with me full-time! and we've been capturing LOVE full time for 4 years now! .
These two little smiling faces, they're our WHY.
They're the reason we started this journey, and they're forever our inspiration + motivation to live a life full of adventure + connection + laughter. .
So if you’re just starting out on your own journey of pursuing your dreams, don’t let yourself get discouraged - FIND YOUR WHY. Put visual reminders of your “why” all over your house. Work hard. Never stop learning and growing and investing in yourself. YOU’VE GOT THIS, and 5 years from now, future you will thank you for pushing through and never giving up. 👊🏻 (and we’re here cheering you on every step of the way!! 😍🙌🏻💃🎉)
