WooHoo - first books have arrived so I can dive in on my journey to become a PT - some long study nights to fit in around the full time job, the home business, the Ironman training, the wedding planning, the travel to Spain and back every 3 weeks & who knows, the odd hour or two to relax 😳
Growing up, I was always told to "act like a lady" I hated that and still do, I have a vagina and boobs, how much more of a lady can I be?
I feel it rather insulting when someone tells any young woman this - us woman can act any damn way we please, we aren't here for your entertainment. 💋
Additionally, "act like a lady" is fake - at least for me- it's not genuine. I want to act like me. I want people to like (or dislike) me for who I really am, not some act - after all, I'm not up for a Tony Award. 👑
So ladies, be you, however damn well you please because you're fucking awesome.

It’s been a minute, but I’ll try to do better about sharing bits and pieces of this model journey!
Model Tip 101:
E-commerce creates consistent income for my modeling career. It’s not always the most fun, but it’s consistent and has provided lots of opportunities for me to improve my skills in front of the camera without it being the most impactful. That wasn’t the tip though Lol.
Here’s the tip: depending on the client and what is visible in the actual shot, you may be responsible for your own makeup and hair. So there it is! Learning to do a natural face is not only beneficial for castings, but as a working model, you may be asked to come to set with foundation already applied specifically for non-recognizable visuals where shots are cropped from your mouth down or waist down. It isn’t uncommon for clients to ask that you arrive with a natural face or even a full face for test shoots lol. So take some time to understand what a natural look means for you. It may vary from company to company, but less is always more.
I used minimal concealer under my eyes, eye brow pencil, minimal contour powder, minimal blush, and two coats of mascara. Liner and shine to the lips...carmax because I can’t seem to find my gloss, but you guys get the point!
This is why it’s super important to take your vitamins, drink your water, limit alcohol before shoots, get rest when possible, create a face cleansing regimen to keep your skin to👏🏾geth👏🏾er! Andddddddd stop letting these boys stress you out so your skin can be clear as possible! Lol clients love a model with healthy skin. My point being...take a class or have your friend who loves makeup teach you so you’re always ready for whatever your model story may entail.
I think this is where the kids would write, "Kicking off the weekend like..." 😅
This is one of the latest in a series of old facebook photos that have been dug up and thrown back onto people's feeds as if they're current.
And it is always a little bittersweet for me when I see how much people like the ones of me doing something totally badass...that I haven't done for years!🙃 However, it serves as a reminder to me to accept where I am and what is important to me. I used to spend an inordinate amount of time training moves like this in capoeira. Now I spend an inordinate amount of time recording and releasing podcasts that hopefully bring uplifting information to thousands.
This is not just a saying on a pen or a cliché for me...this is something I tell myself every day. Would it surprise you to learn that it wasn’t until I turned 40 that I truly lived this. I mean TRULY felt it and acting as such with every decision I made.
Now, at 45, that’s right...4-5 it is even more important for me to live my truth and BELIEVE IN MYSELF...why? As a breast cancer survivor, mom of 2 and lady boss it is simply not an option not to. Life is fragile and could change in an instant! I’m acutely aware that my days could be numbered and so I thought what is my next act? I have a successful business, a fulfilling marriage, 2 healthy and thriving children...my name is OUT THERE so what’s next? The next chapter is a huge question I was asking myself. To believe in myself meant pushing the boundaries and stretching the expectations I had of myself. My plate is full but I knew another challenge was on the horizon... And so, with deep reflection and the love of my Beloved, I have decided to take on a Full-Time gig and help build an HR department from scratch for a not-for-profit! I’ll be managing the outcomes from start to finish and having an impact! I couldn’t be more excited for this yet-traveled road.
You’ll still get to see me on Global News regularly & the Foundation work is still important...but I’m
Living my message of taking a chance, and living my life to its fullest!
So to all the women out there...there’s still time ❤️ **

YOU CAN HAVE A CAREER AND LIFE THAT YOU LOVE, TOO.
I believe you have the power to develop and drive a purposeful career that makes your work-life more fulfilling, engaging and profitable.
I’m passionate about sharing my experiences to educate and help others develop fruitful and purposeful careers.
Let’s work together to create your heyday!
Feeling overwhelmed after starting a new job? Relax – that’s normal. Change can be uncomfortable at the best of times.
Here are some tips, from someone who has been through this, and who has come out the other end of it. Note, this is a condensed version, a full length version will be on my blog shortly.
First, understand that you are going to question yourself. It’s natural to want to learn everything on your first day, you want to hit the ground running and show everyone exactly why they hired you, but it does not happen that way, so please don’t put any extra pressure on yourself by expecting that to happen. During this time, you may even encounter impostor syndrome.
Another one of my tips for you is to keep your focus on your role.If you are feeling overwhelmed with workloads, then don’t be afraid to ask for help and admit what you don’t know.
Also, make friends with your colleagues. Having a colleague who you can trust and let you vent on days where it’s needed is a great resource to have, and they also come in handy to grab a cuppa with, when you just need a break from your desk.
Take a break and do some gentle breathing exercises or walk it off with some fresh air outside the office.
Finally, put it all in perspective. Remind yourself of what is going well and consider the best and worst thing that would happen as a result of what is going on. Use each situation as a learning opportunity and focus on the bigger picture. When you can step away and get a clearer understanding of the perspective it can make everything a little easier for you.
2. CAREER ADVANCEMENT :
Effective public speaking skills can help with career advancement, as they indicate creativity, critical thinking skills, leadership abilities, poise, and professionalism, qualities which are very valuable for the job market.
Speaking at events and conferences is a good way of building credibility. The more well known the event the better, as you can add these speaking achievements to your resume.
Public speaking can also help you stand out at work. You'll learn to speak up in meetings, to promote your ideas, and to present yourself as a professional. Speaking skills can also help you excel in job interviews.
After speaking at a few events, people will remember you and begin to see you as an authoritative figure on your area of expertise. You’ll find yourself getting new client and business from people who watched you speak.
One of the biggest challenges I have with work/life balance is that I get overwhelmed quickly with my to do list and I don’t know where to begin.
I started using the Eisenhower Matrix to better understand the work. This simple tool works! I begin every day by taking 5 minutes to list the things I need to accomplish and then place them in the matrix.
A few thoughts:
1. 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲. If you’re thinking that you don’t have anyone in which to delegate your work, consider things outside of work that you can delegate for a bit of $$. (IE can you pay an extra $5 to have your dry cleaning delivered?)
2. 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 is where you achieve long term goals. Try to get through your urgent and important work as quickly as possible so you can maximize your time on big projects.
3. 𝐒𝐚𝐲 𝐧𝐨. I can’t stress this enough. One of the biggest reasons we get overwhelmed is that we say yes too much. Eliminate as much of your not important not urgent work as possible.
Tag the person you think would benefit most from this post, share your strategies below and DM me for advice.
Have a great weekend!!

Snow Warriors needed to join a seasoned team. We’re thankful for the current employees, clients, and new clients who make these career opportunities possible!
Have you heard this before? "YOU GOTTA PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE!!" I used to hear it all the time too, and I found it a bit annoying. I don't wanna be out THERE! I'm safe and warm in HERE!
Now I'm starting to understand why it's such great advice.
One of the best things I ever did for my career was putting myself in a position to represent the company I worked at. At @ajsmartdesign, I understood what we did, why it was so important and was eager to share it with my network. It became obvious that I enjoyed giving talks, workshops and being on camera. So much so, that it became a big part of my role. I know that not everyone wants to speak at events, be on camera or have their face plastered on instagram stories, but there are other ways you can get similar results.
You could offer to organize events, write on the company blog (maybe START your company's blog!) or host educational sessions. Ideally, it should be something that you enjoy and that will separate you from the pack. Doing something where you're articulating your expertise will help you grow your network. And if people know who you are and what you're good at, you'll have many more opportunities thrown your way. I promise. 🎈

How did I chose my specialisation?.
Contrary to the belief of my folks in India, that, I was probably offered “just” Pediatric dentistry and hence had to take it , if that’s what you have been thinking too...
That’s not true, THAT’S NOT AT ALL TRUE.
I chose Pediatric dentistry as I wanted to be a pediatric Dentist, and here are the reasons (the same which I said out in my interview too):
🦄Dealing with kids is more challenging, and I love challenges.
🦄Pediatric dentistry is the only specialisation where you get to specialise in everything- u do extraction, root canal treatment, scaling etc.
🦄Pediatric dentistry has always been in controversy- be it fluoride or HOME technique, so it’s definitely going to be more interesting all the time.
Lastly, it’s not just dealing with the patient one on one, as it is with adults, you have got to build a rapport with the kid, and the kid’s family - now that’s challenging yet interesting.
So, in my application form, I was given the choice to apply for 2 specialisation, so, I had chosen Pediatric dentistry and Orthodontics.
Why I didn’t take up Orthodontics, is a different story for an other day ☺️(would you like to hear that?).

🌟 Who knows what could happen after you sign that offer letter… you might just become the CEO!
I am definitely someone who loves, love but as a girl who has also always been so passionate about my career, I have been conditioned to think that one would always jeopardise the other.
It is a complete myth that a woman can not have both a successful career and fulfilling relationship at the same time. We hear way too many times of 'Career girls' cracking under the pressure of maintaining their love life and work life simultaneously: They let one go rather than settle for mediocrity in both and it is usually the relationship). But this simply isn't true. Studies have shown that people in thriving relationships not only live longer but make more money in their businesses and get promoted more frequently.
So, how can we create successful, long-lasting relationships while optimising our career growth? For one, by choosing partners that fit your lifestyle.
And if you want to find out how you too can balance your relationship and your business then head over to We are Auburn HQ || LINK IN BIO
I know what it’s like to apply for a role get so excited about it, start planning my route to work, get ready to share with everyone I’ll now be working at xyz, calculating the money I’m going to be making 😉. Then have them come back and say NO. Now, for me personally I’ve always found I tend to get “positive” rejections which makes it 10x harder to understand why it’s a no.
Things like “ we just decided to go with the other candidate but you are great”
“They loved you but the role has been put on hold”
Which means nothing, even the overqualified excuse I know some people get, can sometimes be broken down into 1. being really and truly true
2.code for we didn’t think you’ll fit in here ( at the end of the day they saw your qualifications when you applied).
The thing to note, is when it’s not a question of your technical ability to do the role then it’s about your “fit”. Will she get along well with others in the team, as a hiring manager can I manage her, will she be a competitive advantage
Now most of us go for jobs when we need it, so that’s not always what you’re thinking about or what your focus is but believe me a lot of the time it’s a blessing in disguise. If they didn’t reject you, you might have gone there miserable for various different reasons. So I’ve learnt to take rejection as REDIRECTION while God gets what I deserve ready.
In the moment that can be so hard but trust me I know it’s true sometimes it’s the only way to get out of your comfort zone and get more. 👋🏾 in the comments if you’ve ever been redirected.
