As many of us spend today and the next 3 days trying to cram 5 days of work into 4 days (which always seems to be the price of a 3-day weekend), I wondered how others feel about this. ⠀
Is your job just...a J-O-B, or is it your career? Are you motivated (or demotivated) by how your leadership treats you on a day-to-day basis? Does it make you more engaged when you feel like you're an appreciated contributor? ⠀

A case of the Mondays on a Tuesday?
I actually had a colleague tell me today they had a case of the Mondays! Which I guess makes sense, being the first day back for many of us after a long weekend.
But the whole concept is kind of a trap! To us, it's hard to have a #caseoftheMondays when you're certain what you're working for. One of the reasons we do the things we do is to have a bigger say on how our lives unfold...including Mondays! You definitely can't control everything, but you are in control of your decisions and you can decide to exert control over how you spend your available time, effort, and thought. And the right focus in those little spaces can mean everything just a short way down the road.
As Tony Gaskins famously said, "if you don't build your dream, someone will hire you to help build theirs." Let's use our time wisely, Mondays included!

If you can believe it, this was Chris and I’s first time EVER doing a piggyback ride together. LOL, it’s true! 😂 We’re both tall and have always been nervous to lift our “strong” and “muscled” physiques in the air 😜. Luckily, we succeeded and neither of us got hurt! 💪🏽🏋🏽♂️🥳 #firsttimeforeverything
#tfw you realise the long weekend is over. ⠀⠀ Motherhood is really getting me at the moment. It is unrelenting. We’ve all been been fighting the flu on and off, and each at their own time, since Boxing Day. Our incredible nanny has been away for 2 weeks. Work has been busy for me and Chris and there’s so much more in the coming months. I haven’t been able to train much and that does NOT make things better. Then I blinked, and without feeling like I slept at all, the work week is back. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
Chris and I were talking about how unrelenting this phase has been, especially without any physical support. Oh! You’re ill? Tough luck, mummy. Small humans are hungry and you need to feed them. They finally feel better and want to play and dance with you so suck it up. Didn’t sleep last night? Poor thing! You need to stay standing carrying your baby who won’t sleep otherwise because she wasn’t well. ⠀⠀
Saline flush >> nurse >> serve as incline bed >> saline flush >> nurse >> serve as incline... WPIED, I tell you. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
Then I read about how many people have been hospitalised due to this round of flu and read stories of parents whose children are struggling with health challenges with no end in sight and so much more. We’ve been able to manage without hospital stays, or “medicine”. We are healthy, recovered or recovering and strong. We are hashtag blessed. 😂
So 2 things. ⠀⠀ 1. We are wiped, but we are grateful and know we have everything and one we need. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
2. The kids nanny is back today. Olunze is going to school and I’m taking a mental health day off work today. ⠀⠀ Anyone else feeling like me lately? What are you doing to look after yourself? I hope, mummy or not, that you know when it’s time to give yourself a break. ⠀⠀
