Back pain is a very common problem; one that will strike four out of five people at some point in their lives. In fact, it’s one of the top reasons people seek medical care. Unfortunately, back pain isn’t always easy to diagnose or relieve. Low back pain in particular can become a chronic, or ongoing, problem.
Acupuncture is very effective in treating back pain, naturally. Acupuncture can also be used together with traditional Western medical treatments to maximise your healing and recovery.
How back pain happens There are many possible causes for back pain, including strained muscles, tendons or ligaments, often caused by improper lifting, sudden movements or traumatic injury. Other culprits can include arthritis, cartilage degeneration, structural abnormalities of the spine and skeleton, where discs can bulge or rupture and press on a nerve.
A more natural approach Acupuncture Treatments will not only work to relieve your symptoms, but will also work to find and treat the underlying cause of your pain. In a study conducted in a Swedish hospital, doctors concluded that acupuncture provided long term relief along with improvements in physical activity levels, better sleep and reduced use of pain medication.
Acupuncture is based on the concept that Qi (pronounced “chee”) or vital energy, flows through the body in meridian pathways. If Qi becomes stagnant, unbalanced or deficient, symptoms such as pain, ache and inflammation can result. This can happen for any number of reasons, from injury and illness, to stress or external invasions of wind and damp. Back pain can arise from disharmonies such as:
Stagnation type pain which is often linked to sudden, stabbing, severe pain and is related to sprains, strains or trauma. It can be accompanied by stiffness and tightness and becomes worse for rest.
Cold, damp obstruction type pain, which is generally worse in the morning, and exacerbated by cold or damp weather. This type of pain condition may be associated with numbness, swelling and a sense of heaviness. Heat improves this condition.
Deficiency type pain which is usually a chronic condition that present with a “dull” pain, and improves with rest.

Do you have any special food or meals for taking back yr energy?
A guy who I respects mention that he never get sick, because he tells himself that he can recover his condition sooner by eating "Melon".
His all cells on his body recognizes the terms and conditions, so he keeps his body healthy over 40 years without seeing any doctors.
It might be close to self-brainwashing, but I have similar rules to him.
In my case, having an ice-cream is the best way to conquer sickness especially fever.
My favorite one is this crepe ice-cream♥️.
This week, I had been working and studying hard, and I had terrible sore throat. My body started shivering last night, but the time was already 9pm. I had this magical ice-cream and Chinese special medicine after that, then my body got back energy this morning.
I rarely eat this ice-cream to emphasize my brainwashing capability fully.
Recently I see my doctor quickly when I feel something wrong, but I remembered my "magic" after recalling an episode of that guy.
He is a famous TV star☆
Today is the final day of our Gut Health Week! Our last tip is to take a bit of time to breathe. We all know that our gut and our emotions are so closely linked and by taking a few moments to take deep breaths can help relax our gut and stimulate digestion🥳🥳
“I held my granddaughter for the first time”. After one acupuncture treatment to alleviate swollen hands, painful wrists. It’s these moments with patients that deeply touch my soul. #chinesemedicine#acupuncture#arthritis

A big theme this week in clinic with all patients is cough, sore throat, headaches and sinus congestion. This smoke haze is really effecting a lot of people, myself included.
Prevention is key, look after your lung health by keeping up to speed on the air quality and staying indoors as much as possible on the bad days.
Drop me a comment if you have any specific questions on lung health and give us a call at the clinic if you feel like you need a tune up.
Yesssss, another 👅 post! See previous post. Haha. See what I mean?! 🤭🙋🏻♀️😁 There are sooooo many parts of the body that give us signs about our general health (nails, ears, skin, feet, palms, pulse...to name a few we observe in a Chinese Medicine or Ayurveda assessments). For some reason, I love teaching people about their tongue. Maybe it's because I had digestive problems starting at age 5/6 and when I learned the tongue is one of the best ways to assess our state of digestion, I was hooked. TELL ME MORE 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🤓 Here are some tips for looking at your tongue:
▫️Do it daily! Get into the routine of looking. Honestly, I do mine in the car. At a red light, of course!!! ▫️Try to be in natural lighting or near a window so you can observe with natural lighting. Hence, why I began to do it in my car. 😛🚘
Ok, now that you are looking at your 👅, stick out your tongue and look. Close your mouth between each of the following.
▫️COAT: Look at the coat. Is it thick or thin? What color is it? ▫️COLORS: Under the coat, what other colors do you see?
▫️SIZE: Does your tongue look fat or thin or skinny or dimpled? 🙌 Nice, well done! 🙌
That happens when your teacher tells you to start practicing different acupuncture techniques on an orange you go home and start practicing on an orange. Even on a friday night like a real acupuncture nerd 😅 poor little guy looks more like a porcupine than an orange.
There a a couple different techniques to tonify or reduce a point like twirling or lifting the needle. When we tonify a acupuncture point we add energy when there is not enough and when we sedate we reduce the energy when there is too much. Everything should to be in balance in the body to be healthy.
The different techniques help to bring that balance back. .
Sleep Hacks: Post 14/? Use a Humidifier
Ever wake up in the middle of the night with a dry throat and an unquenchable thirst? This used to happen to me frequently before getting a humidifier.
Depending on the season and your environment, using a humidifier can benefit your sleep.
In the winter, the heater can create a very dry environment. This lack of moisture in the air can dry out our airways and even disturb sleep by causing us to wake up for water.
Using a humidifier can alleviate the dry climate and create a more comfortable sleeping environment.
On top of benefiting sleep, it can also help prevent you from getting sick. Our nasal passages moisten and warm the air that we breathe, but they also are our first line of defense when it comes to catching a cold.
In TCM, certain pathogens can enter the body via the nose and mouth. If these pathways are dried out, it can make it easier for the pathogens to enter.
If you live in a dry environment or need to use heat in the winter, try getting a humidifier. This can be a great tool to improve sleep as well as maintaining good health.
Inspired by @rabbitandwolves red wine braised mushrooms and polenta. I added baked tofu with cilantro avocado sauce, and it made a damn fine party dish for six!

Improve the flow of vital energy (Qi) to support 'Healthy Digestion’.
Most people think of the digestive system as only the stomach and intestines however this system comprises many organs including the liver, gallbladder and pancreas.
In this modern world where so much of our food is processed, we are eating on the run and drinking one too many alcoholic beverages it’s no wonder digestive weakness and poor gastrointestinal and liver health are some of the most common health complaints we face.
The liver is the largest internal organ of the human body, performing over 500 different functions. Its primary function is to clear waste products, hormones, drugs and other toxic substances from the body.
A healthy diet and lifestyle is imperative to the functioning of the liver and other digestive organs, however sometimes our diet and lifestyle can catch up with us and we may start to feel sluggish and out of balance.
To maintain optimal health it is recommended to undertake a detox every 6-8 months.
Here’s what Chinese Medicine has to say about Digestion, Liver & Detoxification 👇🏼

"Many people think that if they exercise, take supplements and have a nutritious meal, they are promoting health. This is not wrong, but we need to make a distinction between maintaining good health and promoting health to be disease-free.
A disease-free management requires a series of work from head to toe that promote its optimal function, more importantly they are done with awareness. Awareness is ultimately the key towards disease-free, because living with awareness will not bring one to both extremes of excess or deficiency. .
In this workshop, we will be discussing a series of work besides, nutrition and yoga that will promote optimum functions of the body. We shall begin with the head regions where major senses such as the eyes, ears and nose. Then moving on to the limbs and the rest of the body. The TOP of the head in opposite to the base of the feet are two polarity which we need to take care to promote good cognitive function and to promote good sleep. We shall give suggestion on what we can do daily to maintain good function of the brain and bring it to rest. .
Diet cannot be just nutrition based, we will be looking at different part of the 24-hour cycle based on Chinese Medicine and Meridian Theory to suggest a way of managing daily activities and to be strategic in addressing creativity and problem solving using different hours of the day which energetically promote their function. .
This will be an unique opportunity to change your lifestyle to become more productive and healthy in year 2020. See you in the workshop."
Join Victor Chng of @YinYogainAsiaSG, and learn how to optimise your health with this workshop focused on diet and movement that moves the energy to restore balance and harmony within.

⚠️3 WAYS TO ESTABLISH YOURSELF AS THE GO-TO AUTHORITY IN YOUR NICHE ⚠️⠀
Being recognized as an ‘expert’ is like tattooing “LEGIT” on your forehead. It helps you rise above the competition, attract more customers, and charge more for your services. ⠀
The secret? You don’t need to HAVE more expertise, you just need to DEMONSTRATE it. Here’s how 👇🏼⠀
1️⃣ Understand your ideal client’s deepest fears and desires. ⠀
What results are they dying to achieve? ⠀
What keeps them up at night? ⠀
What’s the one thing they will do ANYTHING to avoid? ⠀
When you anticipate and address your ideal clients’ questions and concerns, they think, “WOW! She knows her shiiiii” and “OMG, she’s in my head!”⠀
2️⃣ Showcase social proof (and show it often!)⠀
The easiest way to convince prospects to book your service 👉🏼 show proof that your service has helped others in their shoes. Why? Because people look to others to guide their decision-making process. ⠀
“Did you see how many 5-star reviews that place has? Let’s go!” ⠀
“100k followers? Following!”⠀
“Look at the line outside that restaurant! We have to try it!”⠀
Use testimonials, before and afters, # happy patients you’ve served, media mentions, and celebrity endorsements to build that cred! ⠀
3️⃣ Give free value! ⠀
Ask your audience what they’re struggling with and craft content that SOLVES those problems.. fo’ FREE! ⠀
Drop those value bombs so your audience can’t help but think.. “If this is what I get for free, imagine how much value I’d get by working with her!”⠀
Which one of these do you need more support with? Comment 1, 2, or 3 below and I’ll do a mini training on the most popular one! ⚠️

Both of those companies carry some of the best brands like Host Defense, Pure Encapsulations, Metagenics and many more.

POINT ZIGONG ACUPUNCTURE (Palace of Child)⠀
From a TCM perspective egg health is one of the foundations of fertility.⠀
Eggs need to be nourished to mature, ovulate, fertilise and implant in order to make a healthy baby!⠀
If you have poor egg quality, low ovarian reserve, have been diagnosed with premature ovarian failure and or have an irregular cycle this is an important point used in TCM.⠀
Zigong helps increase blood flow to the ovaries and uterus. By increasing blood flow to the ovaries you are sending nutrients to your eggs to support their health.⠀
In the clinic I needle ZIGONG in the first half of your cycle, but if you would like to use acupressure try massaging Zigong 3 times a day for 5 minutes from Day 1 of your cycle (first day of your period) until ovulation with diluted Clary Sage or Geranium essential oil.⠀

Are the Kidney’s the essence of life? Chinese medicine Bestows a very critical role with the kidneys. A person’s growth, maturation and reproduction is governed by the kidneys. The essence stored in the kidney is imprinted within each individual from their parents pre conception and conception. You can use this essence and abuse it by living a lifestyle that is not in alignment with your true nature. working too much? Not sleeping? Not eating nutrients? too many drugs? Toxic relationships? your essence may be taking a hard hit. #kidney#chinesemedicine#holistichealth#sleep#nutrients#acupuncture

🕰Body-clock lifestyle considerations can help turn back the clock on some disharmonious patterns that may be contributing to or causing illness. More details below👇🏼☯️
repost • @ginseng_whisperer 🌿🌿Chinese Medicine links every body function to a specific time on your internal clock. Each organ and it’s related meridians has a two-hour time window during the day when its at is strongest 💪🏽 and most energized, which affects everything from your emotions to your productivity. 😯
🌿🌿This approach to time can change the way you approach your day. You may want to schedule friend dates between 11am and 1pm, when joyful heart energy is at its peak.💗 Conversely, happy hour🥂from 5-7pm would be a bad idea under, as this is when we’re supposed to replenish our life-force energy.
🌿🌿Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners believe that daily dips and spikes in energy give valuable information into hidden health imbalances. When the energy of a meridian isn’t flowing well, you experience certain signs and symptoms. This is how the body communicates with us, providing clues 🔎 to what’s really happening and what’s needed internally.💡
🌿🌿Finding and listening to patterns helps us learn what we specifically need. For instance if you’re waking up at the same time each night 🕰, you can turn to the TCM body clock to garner an understanding on what may be behind your insomnia.
🌿🌿A TCM Practitioner ☯️ can help you interpret this clock and apply its wisdom to your daily routine in order to improve and optimize your health. Acupuncture📍 is a great way to balance the qi within your body to improve sleep and energy and balance emotions. Yoga 🤸🏼♀️, meditation 🧘🏻♂️, physical activity 🚴🏽♀️, a healthy diet🍲 and adhering to a consistent bed time will also greatly impact your sleep. 🛌

The point between and a bit above the eyebrows is known as Yin Tang, The Third Eye or The Eye of Consciousness. Interesting that it is this point that is associated with intuition, enlightenment and true sight, not our actual eyes.
Yin Tang activates and is located above the pineal gland. Our brains have two hemispheres and the pineal gland is located in the middle of the two hemispheres. If you want a taste of the complexities of the body look up the functions of the pineal gland, they are vast. Some of its main functions are the balance of our circadian clock, the production of melatonin and glial cells (cells that support neurons in their communication of information). So from both western and eastern lenses the third eye has a lot to tell us about where we are in time and space. The pineal gland needs contact with sunlight as well as darkness (moonlight) for health and balance. The rhythms of nature are the rhythms of our bodies.
This point has much history connected to it, Rene Descartes believed the soul resided in the pineal gland. In Hinduism and Buddhism it is the proverbial eye of knowledge, it is the geometric center of the brain connecting us to the sacred geometry of the pyramids. Whatever school of thought you prescribe to what is clear is that there is profound information and insight from this little gland. Engage with light and dark, utilize supportive plants and stones, massage. Look with your eyes closed.
That’s a wrap! Last formula of the week looking beautiful 🌱 One of our most simple & favorite modified formulas for leaky gut + healing intestinal membrane permeability!.
55.01 Huo bao "Fire bag" 火包
The word fire with the character bao 包 lets us understand the connection of this point with the heart. This point is also called Du yin.
This point is on Yang ming Stomach meridian who has connection with hand Jue yin Pericardium channel. Yang ming is full of qi and blood, hence this point's function is on circulating qi + blood.
Location: On the plantar side of the second toe, at the center of the distal crease.
The point is reacts on the Liver & Heart.
It is contraindicated during pregnancy.
Inducing labor, retained placenta, chest pain, irregular periods. This point is between well and spring points of the stomach channel. From a mirroring point of view the toes correspond to the lower jiao, it is located between the opening of the uterus and the cervix, therefore due to the connection of Stomach Pericardium it also influence the Liver Jue yin meridian. Liver is responsible for contraction, for the ripening of the cervix, therefore I use this point mainly during the last month of pregnancy to prepare for birth. Other points such Ling gu (22.05) + Sp 6 can enhance it's function on uterine smooth muscles and cervix. This combination is also mentioned for chest pain.
This point can be bled to dispel blood stasis in the chest. If we mirror the foot area the first toe will be the head, the second toe the chest (upper jiao), that is why it influence heart / chest pain. #tungacupuncture #inducinglabor #chinesemedicine #chinesemedicinestudents #birth #pregnancyandlabor #labor #acupuncture #chinesemed

Acupuncture is part of Chinese Medicine, and when we say it's a "system" what we mean is that acupuncture isn't simply jabbing people where they hurt. Instead, it involves a complex and sophisticated way of diagnosing and treating the root of problems in order to relieve symptoms and help a being to thrive.⠀
After thousands of years of experimenting, testing, observing, and analyzing their hypotheses (which is the scientific method after all), I'd say it's a very sophisticated, effective, low-side effect, and well-proven system. If your goal is more than merely treating disease and suppressing symptoms (a la western medicine and drugs) and actually want to *thrive* and feel your best, then get on board, chickadees! ✨
Crying is so great, I could cry....
Bet you never heard an Aquarius say that befofe😛

Yoga is 👏🏼not👏🏼 a self-improvement project.
Fancy poses are not the end goal. Our practice is a time where we can be mindful.
To be mindful simply means being where we are, exactly as we are, in the most minimal and uncomplicated way.
Mindfulness is not a state of mind we are trying to achieve, but rather an ability to host all states – whether they are joyful, restless, anxious or apathetic.
Yin is where we have time to integrate all the aspects of our fragmented selves – the undigested experiences, the tight places of our body, and the dark corners of our heart.
While we may aspire towards a calmer mind and a more flexible body, we cannot grow these ambitions if we don’t start where we are and take time to honor each part of ourselves which needs care and attention.
In my upcoming 6-day Silent Yoga Retreat this April, we will explore this and more in-depth. If you want to delve into a deeper practice of mindfulness, today is the final day to receive 10% OFF tuition prices + 1 year free access to Nosco Online! 🙏🏼 Link in profile!

Acupuncture for Tinnitus! Tinnitus is a medical symptom that can indicate damage to your ear or auditory system. It’s often described as ringing in the ears, but you could hear other sounds, such as buzzing, clicking, roaring, or humming.
For some, tinnitus comes and goes. For others, it can last for hours or days at a time. Regardless of how long it lasts, tinnitus can be a major disruption to your daily life, making it hard to concentrate or sleep.
While there’s no cure for tinnitus, a range of treatments can help, including acupuncture! -
Here’s an example of a patient who received acupuncture from Dr. Sara for a more internal issue! Based on where your disruption of Qi is, the needles are placed accordingly.
