Good morning if your just starting the week ☀️ + Good evening if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere!
I’m curious... how did you feel when you woke this morning ... pre coffee? + post coffee? How many coffees have you had / will you have today?
I often hear people discussing ‘coffee’ before early morning events kick off... some would say “oh I’m not myself till I’ve had my coffee” / “don’t talk to me till I’ve had my coffee” or even apologetically arrive late, with a coffee in hand.
When some asks where do I get my energy from it’s always been meditation/ yoga / sleep / sex / exercise. YES nourishing our body with good food is very important too but the foundation is already there. For me personally, I don’t want to depend on anything external... and no one has asked me where I get my energy from for a while, so this coffee habit of mine is in for some changes.
I really really enjoy coffee, and I love creating little rituals. In the morning I meditate, drink my coffee and write.. I’ve been doing it for years and it’s great. BUT this idea that ‘there’s *nothing* better than a good coffee in the morning’ is utter nonsense. There are LOTS of great things you can do in the morning to wake yourself up and get turned on for the day. I’m experimenting with something I heard from @kimanami , a different 3 step morning ritual meditate - masturbate - create, and for fun I’m adding in no morning coffee for the next month.
Double tap if you’re a java lover. ☕️
Did you know caffeine mimics anxiety? It manifests symptoms similar to anxiety, and if you’re already an anxious soul it’ll intensify your symptoms?
I’m a one cup of coffee kind of girl, but today I consumed more than usual and I’m feeling the negative effects of caffeine in a BIG way. I’m anxious, jittery, and my heart’s racing. Frankly, I’m not a fan!
If your caffeine consumption is decreasing your quality of life, it might be time for a coffee detox (or caffeine detox as a whole). Gasp, I know.
Just imagine how much better you’ll feel without that added fuel to your anxiety fire. 🔥

And if you need a little motivation keep reading ...
•Matcha boosts your metabolism. Consuming matcha increases the rate of our ability to burn calories ( aka thermogenesis) from an average 8%-10% of daily expenditure, to 35% - 43% .
It’s also been proven that we burn up to 25% more fat when we exercise right after having our cup of 🍵! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•it calms the mind and at the same time energizes the body. Which means, no jitters. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•Matcha contains higher levels of antioxidants, younger + better skin! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
& The best .. bye bye coffee breath 🍁

Day 5, no coffee
Here’s my experience.
The first 3 days I was going through mad withdrawals. I’m talking headaches, tiredness, cloudy brain. And then day 4 came the tears, I felt extremely overwhelmed by life. Anxiety that felt like all I could do was crawl back into bed. My emotions were a rollercoaster and thank god for my boyfriend and friends telling me to breathe otherwise I would have felt like I was stuck in quicksand.
Today. Day 5. I woke up at 6am, tired BUT oddly clear headed and awake. I notice my mood has lifted and I feel back to myself.
I’m actually extremely proud of myself.
I LOVEEE a cup of coffee in the morning, but I never realized how dependent my body had become on it.
This week has been a tough one, but I am super excited to see how the next few days play out.
Will I become a morning person without coffee?? One can only hope 🙏🏻

Does anyone remember me saying before how I could barely tolerate 1 half-caf coffee or else I would get jitters, shortness of breath & a headache? Yea, I forget those days now😂
Throughout this term/mostly the last week of exams I was crushing at least 2 large coffees a day— who even am I anymore 😅
The thing is i don’t even really get energy from it anymore & have been finding myself MORE tired after drinking up☕️
So now that the stress of exams are over I’m going to try & reduce this intake & set myself up better for finals! What I’m doing👇
— I’m not going to obsess about stopping 100% cold turkey or being “perfect” in the sense of never having coffee anymore
— I’m not going caffeine free or even coffee free — I’m going to start adding 1 matcha into my day instead of coffee
— I’m going to opt for decafe or half-caf to transition off
— I’m going to make sure I’m getting lots of water into my bod— dehydration= low energy 💥
— I’m taking a B-complex (normally take this but haven’t for quite a few months now as I just got out of the habit) to help with my energy — Optimize my sleep (I have info on sleep over on @yourhealthiestyou_ & I’m really going to focus on my sleep hygiene)
— lots of nourishing foods: if I’m being honest I really let a lot of my health & wellness practices slip during this set of exams. I think it was because I didn’t set myself up great to begin with & kind of just had an “eff it” attitude towards movement, nourishment & stress management. I am going to focus on adding more nourishment into my life, rather than cutting things out! This always works for me because when I come from a place of restriction it always take a tole on me mentally— the focus will be on abundance🧠
How do you guys handle caffeine? Do you drink coffee? Have you ever done a coffee detox? Tell me all the things😅👇

I could do with a matcha latte IV drip right now - I decided to give up coffee on one of my the busiest weeks and as Mercury comes out of Retrograde I feel like I'm going a million miles an hour and its still not fast enough! I don't hate it as its giving me a super creative and productive buzz, but a little balance would be nice. ⠀
Am I the only one, or is everyone feeling the crazy energy right now? Any tips on how to tame it? ⠀
How-to Take a Break from Coffee and Why You May Want to Consider It // 3 weeks ago I decided I needed a little caffeine reset (and I’m still going strong without it). I had been experiencing anxiety and anxiousness along with an inability to focus mid-day and strong cravings for more caffeine to be able power through. Not good! I decided to do some research and determined that I needed to give my neurotransmitters a hard reboot (which simply takes 7-12 days once every month or every other).
After reading a ton and experiencing it all first-hand, you guys had lots of questions for me, so I decided to write an in-depth post for you all, sharing the health benefits of coffee, as well as the side-effects of long-term over consumption and why it affects us each differently. Plus, I’m sharing why a caffeine reset works, how to approach it and alternatives to get you through.
Stay tuned tomorrow for my Guide to a 14 Day Caffeine Reset and maybe you’ll join us for the June 1st Caffeine Reset Challenge?
