Special thanks to Steph at @wilderbagco for these stunning handmade earrings. I thought they looked amazing on @the.landofkate ✨
This shoot with my friends was so rewarding in the aspect that I’ve really developed new skills in my craft! Thanks for being awesome sources of inspiration @kailamae.co@locoleesh 🖤
Thanks you @niani555 for trusting me with your photos. And thank you Matt @shameandregret for allowing us to use your facility. You have a beautiful place and I plan to come by and get a drink soon. .
Happy Friday! PRAISE THE MAKER!!! *insert something witty, deep, meaningful, or inspiring* cause my brain is just too tired after one of the longest weeks ever to think of something original.
I should be caught up on editing after this weekend, so if you’re waiting on photos from me, they are coming your way SOON! Thank you for being so patient with me while my girl goes through the clingiest stage she’s ever gone through. We’re doing our best over here. Mom life is HARD y’all. I’m so thankful for my amazing couples and mamas!
We are currently waiting on our plans to be approved by the city so while we wait, we are doing some cleaning, organizing and overall sprucing of CLAY, to make hard-hat tours the best they can be.
We don’t joke around when it comes to family run business. Clayton was in the midst of it all “helping”
We are pouring our hearts and a lot of elbow grease into our space and we can not wait to show it off.
If you didn’t see yesterday’s post go check it out! It’s the dream come to life via rendering! Y’all it looks so real!

📷 Happy Friday Introductions! I’m Kira, Colorado born & bred wedding, family & personal brand photographer for joyful, down-to-earth people who value bright & colorful imagery! I’m as enthusiastic as it gets about life and all the possibilities this world has to offer!!
As most of you know, I finally moved back to my beautiful home state a couple weeks ago and I’m diving head first into growing my business here, determined to land on my feet despite the fears and doubts that can sometimes creep in.
It took me 9 long years to go full time with photography and I often found that I would compare myself to others on a similar journey and wonder how they made it happen so much faster when I felt like my images were just as good (eww, feels icky saying that out loud). 😬🤢 But the truth is that my business finally exploded when I quit worrying about what everyone else was doing and focused on what I could do with what I personally had (time, equipment, experience, connections, strengths, knowledge of areas for growth, etc.).
💕🙌🏻 I made (and still make) a daily effort to squelch the jealousy whenever I felt it creeping in and cheer on my peers instead, knowing that they were pouring their heart & soul into their business just like me, no matter how different our current season was!
💡 I’ve got so many ideas and things I’m working on that I can’t wait to share with you all - I can legit hardly keep up with my own brain! I also can’t help but say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who is already supporting me here in Colorado… both new clients and other photographers/creative entrepreneurs with your help in getting connected and finding good locations to shoot. It goes to show just how kindhearted & supportive this community is 🙏🏻🥰
How are you reacting to what’s currently happening in your life? Do you struggle to react with a positive attitude as you compare to people around you? ☀️ Tag a friend below who inspires you to stay positive!
Whenever I start a session I go over how I'm going to direct the family or couple. Very natural, loose, not always looking at the camera, gentle touches, and lots of smiles!
I think the natural touching is so important. It helps show connection and creates a closeness in the photos. It helps emotion come through the photos without feeling forced! You'll be able to look back and remeber all the wonderful feelings and love.
Back in America. Had a few good cries. Travel changes you, it makes you long for more adventure. It’s hard to comprehend that I went to sleep listening to the ocean crash into the Bray piers and ended that same day landlocked in Colorado. One day when the kids are grown, we will finally be able to settle in the UK. It’s hard not belonging in a country where you are born. Where everything feels dangerous and cold and life is not simple. But we are lucky enough to have family overseas, so we get the best of both worlds. Ireland and England is home and I couldn’t have picked a better travel partner either. @meganmichelle124 is my sister and we will always have these memories of half pints and fiddles and wind and sheep.
Back to shooting my beautiful Colorado people for a bit.
Erika + Joel braved the snowy weather and we captured MAGICAL moments of them.💫

Yay it’s Friday! This week went by really fast and I feel like I got a lot accomplished. Today is relax day, and the weather is warm enough to take the dog out for a hike. Who has exciting plans for the weekend?
We're total opposites. Brandon is the high energy, social butterfly, telling jokes all day type. Meanwhile I'm the introvert who would rather spend my nights at home and prefers for things to be planned out. Our personalities couldn't be more different. The one thing we have absolutely in common is how much we love and care for each other. I often tell people our relationship and marriage is easy because it is for us. There are days where Brandon annoys the crap out of me (intentionally) and I do the same to him with the number of lights I leave on and drawers I forget to close. Sure there are occasional situations that test our patience since our life is often dictated by the military. But overall our every day life is filled with a lot of laughter and cat shenanigans. I honestly wouldn't want it any other way.🤗 Photo by @sarahlotusphoto ✨

The only color he can see is cobalt blue.. so why the heck did they book me?!?! ⠀
As a photographer it’s so easy to get caught up in what things look like. Your editing style, the colors of your brand, the fonts you use, etc. But our true job is to focus on what things feel like, and how we make others feel too.⠀
I recently photographed a couple where the only color he can really see is cobalt blue. ⠀
I really had to step back and take this in for a second... my editing style is very warm and cobalt blue is few and far between in my photos, so why the heck did they book me?! ⠀
I was so curious I had to ask them.⠀
Their long answers had everything to do with how I made them FEEL during our first few interactions, how I treated them, and the true joy and emotions they felt in my images!⠀
Your brand is how you make someone feel⠀
So ask yourself, if you had to photograph someone who can’t see your brand, how would they describe it?!
You guys!! Y’all have been the best. So encouraging, supportive and helpful as we have launched C L A Y.
From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU! We can’t wait to continue this journey and build more relationships as we start hosting weddings and events in 2020!
If you didn’t catch yesterday’s post, we launched our website and you can check it out at the link in our bio.
We are now booking and the brides and couples we have talked to already are the best!
Babies. Bribes. Animal noises. Pumpkin cold brew deliveries, and you even remembered the salt. “Don’t smile!”’s. Hands in pockets. “The box”. Tears. Laughs. Forest walks. Boogers. Drool. Big smiles. Little smiles. No smiles. Promises of trips to Target, and “are you ready to press the button?”s. Big kids and little. I could not be more proud of what we built this year, ya’ll. Here’s to the end of no doubt about it, hands down, forever and ever, one of the best freaking seasons yet. The dream is so dang real. ✨

🏔 When we woke up this morning, Preston looked at me and said, “Kira, we live in Colorado!” 🤯😵🤩
I can’t believe we’re finally to this point! So grateful to everyone who helped us with the moving process during the last few days. We are truly thankful to have amazing friends and family to encourage and support us in this season!

Yesterday was a dream. I've been wanting to come to Yosemite National Park for the longest time and today we FINALLY made it. It is honestly far more incredible than I could have ever imagined, and no picture will ever do it justice. It feels more like a painting than reality. It is absolutely a glimpse of Heaven. I am undone.
I am so thankful these two gorgeous lovers braved the cold yesterday morning so we could make some serious magic together! HOW CUTE ARE THEY?! I am deceased. How is this real life?! I am never coming home. Cool? Cool.
