During this session, I was so thankful I had my husband present as my assistant for the day. Best photographer assistant award goes to @thefidelvalenzuela 👌📷🤵🏻 He graciously changed my film backs, captured some behind the scenes footage, and was really good at finding the best spots with the best lighting for me. Although he’s not a photographer, he has a natural eye for beauty and I love that he supports me so much in my new photography business endeavor. Ever since I shared my entrepreneurial dreams with him, he’s been nothing but supportive. So excited to start sharing more of my photography work through this Instagram feed. @kaaaaaaaaitlyn and @onil_diaz are like family. Daniel and Onil went to film school together years ago. And then they became business partners in their video production company back in LA. Now, we all find ourselves in Texas!

YOUR TRIBE // On a break from editing a wedding today, I took a few minutes to stamp and stuff our holiday cards (whoops they're late!!) and I couldn't be more thankful for the tribe I have around me. A tribe of friends and family. A tribe of amazing #baumbrides and grooms. A tribe of friendors that are the most outstanding creatives I know. And more.

It got me thinking - who's in your tribe? Maybe it's the gals and guys you ask to stand beside you at the altar. Maybe you're asking someone special to officiate. Or just attend the bridal festivities. Or the larger tribe that are the people you invite to witness the special day. Ultimately, you probably have a couple tribes and this holiday season, now's the time to be extra thankful for them!!

Ive said it before and I’ll say it again, the moments in between are always my favorite. Loved this quiet moment during sunset right before @kellykollarphotography and Sanjiv invited their guests to be seated on the veranda of the colonial style estate on the beach in Galle, Sri Lanka. With all the craziness of a wedding day it’s important to take a minute or two for yourselves, even if it’s just getting away for a quick photo, that instance of silence and closeness are usually some of my client’s favorite moments of the day. I’m so excited to finally share all of the photos from Kelly & Sanjiv’s incredible wedding with @magicalmomentssrilanka out in print in the annual edition of @martha_weddings pick up a copy of the magazine on newsstands and check out their website for more photos! Hello internet. We meet again. This time it’s been about a year since I last posted a photo update, mainly because I have a child now. So who has time for their career, hobbies, or social media accounts anymore?! Just kidding. But it is true that your children become your world no matter how much you’ve tried to set boundaries or plan time for yourself. Eventually though, I want to get back into the photography thing and possibly even turn this account into a digital advertisement for my bad artwork 😆. Our next Saturday wedding isn’t until February, so today I went to an old English sheepdog meetup at the dog park, went to the regular park with my kids, plan to do some Christmas shopping, and also going through these new film scans in awe! So to give a little insight, when I shoot film at a wedding, I take the exposed rolls, pack them up and mail them to a lab in California that will then develop the rolls and scan them into the computer. So that’s what it means if you ever hear “my film scans came in.” @goodmanfilmlab sent me and email yesterday with all these gorgeous new film scans and I’m too excited to go through them all!

A trip we’ve had on our bucket list (yes we totally have a travel bucket list) has been to spend the 4th of July in Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. We want a totally traditional “Americana” experience with our kiddos. So for 2020 – we said – let’s do it! We are huge believers in speaking out our dreams – and here’s the crazy part – the minute we said out loud – “We’re going to spend the 4th in the Cape this year,” – within 24 hours we had an inquiry, and booked a wonderful couple IN THE CAPE for the week following the 4th. Amen - to speaking out dreams!!!

Oliver turned one last week. We were flying home from our last wedding so we didn’t get to do anything then. So today we are celebrating with a little birthday party!
This child has brought so much joy into our lives. He is everything we didn’t know our hearts and family needed.
Oliver is smart, funny, full of life and curiosity. He also has the best laugh! When I look at this picture, I can still hear his peals of laughter.
While in Tokyo we took him to a park and put him in a swing for the first time. He loved the swing so much and he just couldn’t contain his joy. ❤️❤️❤️

Heading back to @lonemountainranch today for another beautiful wedding with @thepennylayne! It’s drizzling outside, but I’m wishing it was looking more like this. We’re on snow watch 2019 so we can take Sofie to the mountains for a little winter wonderland Christmas spirit and crossing our fingers that we’ll get to do it before we head down south for Christmas! One of the traditions Ben and I started when we moved here was heading to the mountains for some cocoa and magical snow. Maybe we’ll eventually add some skiing when Sof’s old enough?
