Online extremism is a growing health threat. However, the technology designed to intercept online extremism is now being deployed to tackle vaccine misinformation.
Moonshot, a London based firm, currently "redirects" those drawn towards violent extremism to resources that connect them with counselors, mentors, opportunities, and even job sites, so that they can get the help they need. This same technology will now be leveraged to redirect those drawn to anti-vaccine theories. This technology could help address patients' fears in a respectful manner by providing them access to rigorous scientific information.

The body scan meditation focuses attention on physical sensations in the body. The practice is completed by “scanning” one’s awareness through the entire body on a micro level. Attention is given to every inch of the body. The purpose of this practice is to cultivate the ability to notice what is being experienced in the body- this includes all of the systems of the body- bones, skin, internal organs, digestion, etc. This is a particularly useful practice to learn self-awareness about how physical experience is tied to emotional experience. For each emotion we experience, there is a way in which that emotion resides in the body, and by opening one’s attention to receiving this information, one can begin to learn how to better respond to physical and emotional cues and their interrelated cognition. You may notice a range of emotions during your practice, this is OK and expected, the important part of the practice is to stay connected and aware of your experience without judgement.
Decide ✨ Decide how you want to live your life each day. What does it look like? What does it feel like? What do you do each day that makes you happy? Find a quiet space, close your eyes and meditate on these questions. When you can see the picture of your ideal life in your mind, write down a statement which captures what you want. Tell life what you want, demand it. Then allow it to happen - you have every right to be happy, living a life you love every single day.✨

For #Day13 of #16DaysOfActivism we share a case study of a service user who used our MWN faith and culturally aware Counselling Service. #Counselling is sometimes treated as an “after-math” need, which is a very narrow and perhaps dangerous view. In fact counselling can be helpful at any stage. In this case counselling helped our service user to take the steps to leave an abusive situation. This highlights how important it is to take a holistic approach in assessing the needs of the individual. #MentalHealth#MentalHealthAwareness#SpiritualCounselling

✨Be kind because you never know someone’s story. Remember that moment when someone showed you kindness when you needed it. Kindness is the least we can do for others around us.

✨You have the ability to make new memories always. Sometimes we have memories that make us upset but with time, we learn from them. I’ve had many memories that I look back on that used to make me sad but they’re just a memory now. Not sad or happy, just there existing in my mind. Using mindfulness helps me with this. I remember thinking that I would always be sad but now I reflect and remind myself that I’ve grown. New memories have taken the place and are now my happy memories. Be kind to yourself.
