Sometimes we accidentally hurt the ones we love the most. But that doesn’t mean we are damned for it the rest of life because of it. Mistakes happen, however we have then put some work into correcting the matter. Not just sweeping it under the rug and pretend it didn’t happen.
Yesterday I unfortunately hurt Fred. It broke my heart to see him just laying there. I realized I didn’t know how to fix him, so I literally stuck a fork in him. After a few hours of brainstorming on how to help him, I came up with a plan. (Even made him a get well gift, he needs a extra eye on him right now)
I know this may sound ridiculous, but the same steps apply to human relationships. We all make mistakes, it’s how we handle it that makes all the difference!
Zostałam dzisiaj szczęśliwą posiadaczką hoi (i to podwójnie! 😀)
Plants make the best home decor 🌿
This is the entrance of my apartment. Makes the corner so lively, isn’t it?!

I had the house to myself, this weekend. It was glorious. I spent the quiet time eating like a teenage boy and crafting like an elderly woman. This macrame wall hanging was originally created during a trip to my best girl's house, @faithfullyfitcyn, for our annual NYE gathering, in 2017. I had the idea to make a New Year's craft that could ring in a fresh start and remind us of our tradition. I coerced Cyn to join me (she has zero interest in crafting or macrame - but loves me and my crazy enthusiasm) and we each made our own version of the double ring piece. Cyn stopped at the end of the YouTube instructional video (happy to let the task be done), but I continued well past and ended up with what you can see in the third picture. I liked it, but thought it was clunky and wasn't really fond of the color. As time went on I decided it looked tortured and (like any artist not completely happy with their work) it annoyed me. This weekend, I revamped it. I shed it of its blue-green twine and rewound it with some that I dyed black. Then, I used yellow-gold floss to create a web, of sorts. To finish it up, I found a little circle of marbled clay and porcelain that I made in college (an experiment in testing the medium's limits) and adhered it with more floss. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I must admit that I was happy to shed the weighted memories that this piece held. The months that followed its original creation were rocked with chaos, mourning, and drama. This new formation is lighter, more balanced, and a reminder to stay rooted in the naive creativity that still lingers in my bones. The last picture is another bit of macrame from my peaceful weekend and another reason to show off a Hoya😜 #loulousattic#peacefulweekend#crafty#gettincrafty#wallhanging#macrame#macramewallhanging#planthanger#macrameplanthanger#dreamcatcher#handmade#boho#bohohome#bohodecor#eclecticdecor#eclectichome#plantmama#plantaddict#houseplants#planthoarder#plantsmakepeoplehappy#hoya#hoyacompacta#plantsofinstagram#house_plant_community#crazyplantlady#beforeandafter#redo
You guys I’m keeping my aloe alive!! I’m so proud of myself. Six months ago it would be dead already. I finally learned the secrets to keeping them alive. IGNORE THEM. Pot in a sand mixture. Water sparingly. •
And how cute is my little parlor palm!? •
Names from left to right, Stevie the aloe, Ella the parlor palm, and Lanie the other aloe. Too bad I have to take them back inside soon. They’ve really enjoyed this summer on my porch.

HUNTY, on Monday of this week this kween officially moved into a new office for her new job and she brought 6 of her office green gurls along with her! It’s now Friday and this kween now has 16 green gurls in her new office and she’s not stopping there, dahling! 💁🏽♀️🌿🌵🛍
One of my goals, besides greening up the space, is to have enough plants in my office that I am able to share a variety of cuttings with my students. While my work focuses on LGBTQ+ initiatives, programs and events within the realm of inclusion, diversity and belonging work ... I think that we can learn so much about how we care for ourselves and others through caring for plants. I think it’s a unique approach to the work and I’m eager to explore this with my students 🌿🤗🌵🌱
Ms. Ficus Elastica (also known as the Rubber Tree) is a kween that has been a part of my office plant fam since the beginning! This green gurl is native from the Himalayas to Malaysia, Sumatra and Java. She can grow into an evergreen shrub or tree that may grow to 50-100’ tall in her native habitat. I remember when I was in Cuba last year and how shook I was when I looked up at a huge tree and it was Ms. Ficus Elastica herself! I was so used to seeing smaller versions of her that she took me by surprise when I saw her true growth potential! She can literally grow to be a tree!!! 🌳 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This green gurl is a resilient kween that can survive in low light conditions, but thrives in bright indirect light. I’ve found that my rubber trees enjoy well drained soil and generally I let the soil dry out in between waterings. She’s a great kween for new plant parents who are looking for hearty green gurls that don’t require too much attention 💁🏽♀️🌱
Happy Friday kweens! As I post this, I’m about to head out to search for yet another green gurl for my office 😜 Happy shopping, dahlings!💃🏽🌿🛍

Talk about starting a collection! All of these pins and more shipped out to a wonderful customer in California today.
I made my final run to the post office this morning, before I'll be out of town for two weeks. Thank you so much for your orders, continued support of this tiny business and for understanding.
If you place an order while I'm OOT it will ship when I'm back in the office the week of 10/7.
While I'm away, I will be working on so many new things (designs, ideas and collaborations). I will also be researching small businesses to help me make these ideas a reality. The future is so bright.
I hope your weekend includes a moment of joy. You can find all of these pins and more at hemleva.com 💚🌿 #hemleva

Interrupting my Netflix bingeing of The Office to bring you this Staghorn Fern repotting video.
I love Staghorn Ferns but always read that they don’t like being potted BUT I looooove the way they look in pots (I already have a large one growing out of a crate). I thought terra cotta would be okay with the right mix and because it’s breathable. I used orchid bark, perlite and sphagnum moss.
Staghorn Ferns are epiphytic so I wanted to make sure the potting medium was light and airy. So far so good 👍🏾 #staghornfern
