Never got around to writing this, but I thought I'll trying penning this down today.

Have you ever seen construction of roads? Life and love is pretty much the same.

When there are a lot of potholes on the road, a new layer of hot asphalt is evenly spread out on the previous one. The previous layer is never scraped out in the process, it is always one over the other.

Love is quite similar. You can never probably remove the past from your present. The memories remain intact, a part of your heart will always inhabit her presence, and the smell of her hair might never seem to whither away with time. Now a lot of people are constantly trying, probably trying their best to scrape out the past and the memories, but are failing miserably at it.

My point being, you can never probably separate your past from yourself, but perhaps give yourself a chance to find love again.

Je ne reconnaissais plus la personne que j’étais devenue depuis lui,
J’étais différente, insouciante, et moins aimante.
Je ressentais comme un manque permanent,

It’s your job to stay exactly the way you are because you will always be more than enough for someone who is looking for depth, for quality and for strength. Maybe you were too strong for the weak ones or too deep for the shallow ones or maybe you were a home when they were looking for a vacation.
Even if they leave, you win. Because they’re showing you who they are. They’re showing you what they’re made of. They’re showing you what kind of person you don’t want to be with. You don’t want the kind of person who walks away because they can’t handle who you are. You don’t want someone who acts and lies just so they can manipulate you into loving them. «I want a home mostly just to welcome people into it. There will be bowls of candy for guests, and the cookie jar is full. I’ll always say “I was just about to make a coffee/tea/cocoa, would you like one?” when somebody walks in. There’s lemonade and iced tea made fresh on hot days. Once it hits That Hour and they start saying they really should be going, I’ll remind them that the futon is always open, and I’m making cinnamon rolls tomorrow. There’s champagne and sparkling juice hidden on a high shelf just in case somebody announces their engagement or their pregnancy or their new job while they’re here. There is an extra chair in the living room, at the table, and on the deck, and it’s for you. I want to be able to say “if you’re ever in trouble, come to me.”»
