Humans have a propensity to further compound problems by either ignoring it or ‘compressing’ the issue with destructive mindsets and behaviours in an attempt to avoid or quash the need to sort the shit the out.
⚜️We all have everything in us believe it or not. When I hear people judge each other I always think to myself that one person simply does not have the experience or understanding to reach the person they are judging. I genuinely believe that we are all capable of everything and anything, it’s just that we haven’t been put in the right situation to bring it out of us yet. That theory goes for good things and bad things I think.
Since day implies night, light implies dark and life implies death, I think it is our duty to understand and be good stewards with all of it. The game is elevating yourself and life by renewing your mind, cleansing the ignorance and darker sides of your natural state. Not to run from your natural state but I understand it and channel it into positive or higher-level behaviors that are in alignment with higher level values. When you can do this the fruit of your life will also be in alignment with an overall higher quality of living in my opinion.
I’m not trying to get you to think like me but rather I’m trying to get you to think and unlock higher levels of power in your life by understanding and leveraging the entire spectrum of who you truly are, no matter how much you try to run from it. Face yourself, understand yourself, be compassionate towards yourself, discipline yourself in order to unlock the highest version of yourself by Gods grace during your time here.
Passed my White Belt test today! It’s funny how as kids we strive to make our parents proud, but as adults, we aim to make our children proud (if you have kids). Right after I left the dojang I stopped to see my kids to show them. They’re my first and last reason for existing so everyday, I try to make them proud. My son took this photo. His White Belt test is next month. 🙂💪🏾 .
Full body Fridays at The 12 are on another level!! I dread them but LOVE them at the same time because I know they are absolutely going to kick my butt!! As a trainer I live for a good challenge and the EXPLODE workouts never disappoint!! Sometimes I just don’t want to do it but when I’m surrounded by this amazing community, have my sister and mom dying right next to me and the wild and crazy @fitness_12_fold constantly pushing me to my limits, I know I won’t ever regret showing up!!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀Motivation vs. Discipline⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Most fitness pages use motivation as a way to encourage followers to start or continue their fitness journeys. Motivation is a good way to get started and it is effective at producing short term results, but motivation fades. Over time motivation dies and what’s left? Discipline. Discipline is what keeps you going when you can’t remember why you started and you can’t see the end result; when all of those voices in your head are telling you to sleep in or cut your workout short or eat that entire bag of chips- discipline is what keeps you in check.
What do you do when you don't feel motivated to do what you need to do?
I'm talking about those days when you can barely remember your goal, or you're wallowing in self pity because everyone else is eating pasta and you know the cost of giving up even one day.
The days when you're close to your goal but so close you almost feel like quitting. What about the days when everyone says you already look great so you start to settle thinking you're fine?
@alliedoesketo wrote a post on it a while back, but I am struggling with the fact that I am close to my goal weight, about 8-10 pounds away and yet it seems like I am no longer making progress. I am maintainig but not progressing. I have sort of settled rather then got motivated to finish the crossing line.
My biggest struggles right now are discipline and consistency. 🤦🏼♀️

The lack of these two very important characteristics has shown up in every single area of my life and I have gotten to the point where I am sick of being uncomfortable—without growth—due to my own laziness. It is time to start growing.
That brings us to food! 🥗
One of the areas I am trying to implement discipline and consistency is in my diet. I am not happy with my current weight so it is time to do something about it! I joined a wellness challenge in July and learned a lot about my relationship with food and learned how I can take control of this part of my life.
So, I started counting macros!
It has definitely been an adjustment and I am not perfect at it in any way, shape or form, but it REQUIRES discipline and consistency for it to work. I am starting to see the changes I want to see by doing the work and it is motivating. This process definitely takes a lot of grace, patience and love. ♥️
The best part about it is I am starting to feel proud of myself. The discipline and consistency are trickling into other areas of my life where I desperately need them, and I am beginning to show up for myself every day—something I have struggled with for a long time.
