Ice on fire (Greenland, Disko Bay, August 2019)
During my week of sailing and photography in Disko Bay with @iceland_photo_tours, we came several times around this beautiful iceberg to see it at different period of the day. I think we tried all kind of compositions and staging with the boats, until we got this magic sunset light within the arch, like if a fire was burning within. Tried to grab the instant with my drone.
Different approach. When I visit famous places like Öschinen Lake in Switzerland, I‘m giving my everything to find fresh perspectives and views onto that famous place. Sometimes you need to go the extra mile, sometimes a drone can bring such interesting, new perspectives. Somehow it never bores me to hike to the same Swiss gems again and again because it’s never the same and I see new compositions all the time. For me it‘s all about the willpower and knowledge to find it. I definitely miss that creativity when it comes to landscape photography here on Instagram more and more. I hope you feel a little inspired to go the extra mile by this series.
To take these shots of big lagoon I had to launch my Mavic off the back of a boat, which I'd never done before. On landing, the boat rocked and clipped the props of the drone, causing it to crash land *just* inside the boat. 😬 So these photos almost never saw the light of day!
Norway🇳🇴 is this real! Imagine traveling the 8 kilometers of "Atlantic Ocean Road" as part of your daily commute.
