“Your work will take you where you want to go.” Chef Pete 👨🍳 Today we welcomed students from the Is 51 Edwin Markham School to our Nicotra Group campus to give them a hands-on experience of life in the business world! 💼
As part of a Career Readiness class with a focus on Culinary Arts, students were especially interested in operations at Lorenzo’s.
Our Culinary Director, Chef Pete, took time from his schedule to speak to students about his own career path, sharing words of wisdom and helpful hints.
Our team members cherish the opportunity to educate. We love to see young men and women using their time at school to prepare for their futures, and we’re wishing them all the best in their future endeavors. .
This is how we do it. Let’s face it small business owners are important to the economy. Minority small business owners numbers are growing daily. What they lack is support. Not likes, follows and shares but cold hard cash and a ax incentives to support their growth.
Mardi Gras 2020 is finally over. It was blessing to be able to march parades with Abramson Sci Academy, support my son as he march through the streets, and my former students. Year 3 has been amazing. Can’t wait to see what Year 4 will bring. #ProudFather#Educator#MusicSavesLives
It's #pinkshirtday and I'd like to raise more awareness about kindness and the power of words and actions.
Bullying happens when a person doesn't know how to recognize her emotions and needs. And the only way she feels to address that unbalance state is by trying to put the other person down, verbally or physically. And she thinks that will make her feel more powerful. On the contrary, that just highlights the fact that this bullier is weak.
There are a lot of learnings around bullying and bullier. What if we could build something positive together.
The child and their parents have to learn to recognize what emotions are rising in certain situations, express them and recognize the needs.
Be Kind, Teach Kindness.

Hope everyone’s having a good week so far! This is probably one of my favorite endings to a song, enjoy!
Can you name that tune?
Stay True to YOU.
There's always going to be people's work that you admire but don't let it take what’s special about you, away.
I mean, there's most likely someone looking up to you, the way you're looking up to someone else.
Don't feel like you have to copy someone's work to stay relevant.
Keep Being you, it will pay off🔥
WMW after a week away from posting these videos, this week is about identifying positive and beneficial routines that are lacking or have become absent from our lives and finding/creating a way to restart those routines. For me, this means working out at least 3 days a week, writing in my planner/journal, planning out my daily/weekly do-tos and also finishing my day preparing for the next.
If you are also experiencing this challenge, you are not alone. Let's find a way to get back on our routines and get the most out of our days/weeks!
There is nothing like #peace of mind. I seek to make a difference in the lives of my students as well as forging a better way of life for self.
I took a step back in my professional life to regroup and focus my attention on the next steps. School leadership has its own set of challenges. Ultimately, I desire to have residual income from an online store and informational content.
I am speaking and moving to bring those desires into fruition.

I was with my GI doctor today for a consultation for a colonoscopy. I’m 50 now! Dr. Aram has been my GERD doctor since 2009 (GERD, Mucus, post nasal drip, sinus burning, bloating, stomach polyp, esophageal erosion diagnosis). .
I last saw her in 2017. (I started PP in Feb 2018) She remembered me and asked me how I’ve been. She asked “Why so long since you’ve been in?” I shared with her my Plant Paradox story and how I reversed ALL of the issues I was seeing her for plus the others that she didn’t even know about at the time (acne, hair loss, hashimotos, hypothyroidism, depression, FM and CFS) 🤪
She was amazed and asked me if I would consider meeting with some of her patients to guide them through a Lectin-Free lifestyle. She said they all have these symptoms. We’re going to have a future meeting together to discuss the specifics. .
What are your feelings on this? If it happens,
I really just want to be a person that provides guidance and resources. 🤷🏻♀️ .

This episode of the podcast centers around optimizing your body through exercise. The Know Your Dose team was joined by corrective exercise specialist Nathan Kohlerman.
The beginning of the show opens with a detailed account of how Nathan went from bodybuilding to focusing on alternative movement practices, highlighting that conventional training can often lead to injuries and imbalances.
Nathan outlines how Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) is a system of movement that rewires the mind-body connection for how we move.
Nadeem drives a discussion on how to alleviate stress and improve mobility at the office, where people with pain make mistakes when exercising, and setting the right intention for your health and fitness goals.
Towards the end of the podcast, things go from the physical to the metaphysical as Nathan opens up about emotions being felt as physical pain, energetic healing, and his views on spirit guides. The podcast ends with Nathan’s thoughts on how cannabis and psychedelics can be used as tools for transformation.
If you are interested in exploring movement there’s a great many avenues you can take.
Bear in mind that all anyone is trying to do is propose a model around which you can do things and see what the effects are. Then make changes if it didn’t work based on your criteria or keep going if it did. Science.
As you learn to articulate your needs/athlete needs with greater accuracy so you can then find the paths to travel that best fit them.
Here’s a nice framework for Movement Efficacy from Joanne Elphinston’s book Stability, Sport and Performance Movement - each of the ‘spokes’ of the wheel can be considered a bucket to fill, some are highly predictable and easily trained, others trickier to pin down to specifics - but the premise is that the better balanced they are in terms of each individual, the greater the movement efficacy.
Having a grasp on some of the elements needed in each area will help you grow as a coach, being able to find solutions to various movement problems by taking a zoom out approach as opposed to always looking from the inside out - facing the issue known as ‘not being able to see the wood for the trees’.
I’ll demonstrate a few ways you can develop awareness today using different ‘spokes’ of the movement wheel.
By taking a multi-modal approach you aren’t negating any one lens but instead trying to harmonize their interplay.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH - ❤️🖤💚✊🏽 SEPTIMA POINSETTE CLARK - EDUCATOR “A pioneer in grassroots citizenship education, Septima Clark was called the “Mother of the Movement” and the epitome of a “community teacher, intuitive fighter for human rights and leader of her unlettered and disillusioned people.” The daughter of a laundrywoman and a former slave, Clark was born 3 May 1898 in Charleston, South Carolina. In 1916 she graduated from secondary school and, after passing her teacher’s exam, taught at a black school on Johns Island, just outside of Charleston. For more than 30 years, she taught throughout South Carolina, including 18 years in Columbia and 9 in Charleston.
Clark pursued her education during summer breaks. In 1937 Clark studied under W. E. B. Du Bois at Atlanta University before eventually earning her BA (1942) from Benedict College in Columbia, and her MA (1946) from Virginia’s Hampton Institute. Clark also worked with the YWCA and participated in a class action lawsuit filed by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) that led to pay equity for black and white teachers in South Carolina. In 1956 South Carolina passed a statute that prohibited city and state employees from belonging to civil rights organizations. After 40 years of teaching, Clark’s employment contract was not renewed when she refused to resign from the NAACP.
By the time of her firing in 1956, Clark had already begun to conduct workshops during her summer vacations at the Highlander Folk School in Monteagle, Tennessee, a grassroots education center dedicated to social justice. Rosa Parks participated in one of Clark’s workshops just months before she helped launch the Montgomery bus boycott. After losing her teaching position, Myles Horton hired Clark full time as Highlander’s director of workshops. Believing that literacy and political empowerment are inextricably linked, Clark taught people basic literacy skills, their rights and duties as U.S. citizens, and how to fill out voter registration forms.” - Stanford University

This is one of the most common confessions I hear from people when they find out what I do for a living, that I’m passionate about changing the narratives of grief. I care deeply about creating a more empathetic world when it comes to showing up for ourselves and one another in the face of loss. ⠀
It happened just the other day. I told that person, “I get it.” and I really do. Though my comfort has improved tremendously, I even find myself sometimes at a loss of what the next right action or expression is when faced with the news of someone’s loss.⠀
But here’s the thing I remind myself. Here’s the advice I gave to the social work grad students at the @texasstevehicks the other day. Here’s the reminder I’m giving to you right now. THERE IS NO RIGHT THING TO SAY because this thing that happened to them is total fucking bullshit, and there are really no words. ⠀
I think we all get stuck because of an underlying assumption we don’t even realize that we are carrying. We are often paralyzed because we believe that the pain of their grief is bad. That it needs fixing. That it is our responsibility to fix it. But here is the reality. Pain is a NORMAL response to grief. It doesn’t need fixing. Plus, you couldn’t fix it if you tried. So, where does that leave you? Where does that leave me when I get the news that a friend or client has just faced a loss? Here’s what we do. We take a deep breath. We settle our minds and our body. Then we simply show up, shut up, and listen.⠀
How did today’s #dailyinvitation resonate for you? Please comment below 👇🏼
#36#IAMGRATEFUL “The grateful mind is constantly fixed upon the best; therefore it tends to become the best; it takes the form or character of the best, and will receive the best.
Also, faith is born of gratitude. The grateful mind continually expects good things, and expectation becomes faith. The reaction of gratitude upon one's own mind produces faith; and every outgoing wave of grateful thanksgiving increases faith. He who has no feeling of gratitude cannot long retain a living faith;
It is necessary, then, to cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you; and to give thanks continuously.”

‘Many years ago, I was working on an early childhood development program in Rajasthan. Since then, I have wanted to do something which improves education for children at the grassroots level. Like Sampark Didi, I love assisting teachers, sharing innovations with them and helping them bring FUN into the classroom. As a SPARK, I am able to channel my passion both professionally (training) and personally (primary education).’ ~ Taslim, Program Coordinator, Uttarakhand
Upper elementary and middle school lesson sets with enough materials to make it a full unit on its own. My goal is for all my lesson sets to have the resources you need to teach every standard to every student 🍎
I’m sitting down with one of New Hampshire’s most distinguished educators: Bill Hammond. He’s worked in the Hanover-Norwich school system for 36 years as a principal and teacher. He has taught thousands of students in multiple academic disciplines, and I bet a crazy number of these alumni remember Bill to this day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s impact, and that’s why I wanted to bring Bill’s story to The Sydcast listening community around the world. And what a story it is – growing up with 11 siblings, crafting a life of learning, and doing it in some of the most innovative ways you could think of. Bill is a master teacher, and nothing less. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In this episode, Bill shares his take on growing up, growing smart, and learning to grow at your own pace in an era where the pressures on youth have never been greater.

Dr. Ashauna Harris may be the principal of a high-needs middle school, but she willingly adopted the role of student with CCL. As an educator, she sees herself as a mentor and role model for both her teachers and her students, an effort that often left her feeling stretched thin and not able to give either the attention they deserved.
Attending our Leadership Development Program gave Dr. Harris the coaching she needed to not only establish meaningful relationships in her school community, but also pass along what she learned to her teachers. United in purpose and driven to make a difference, Dr. Harris and her teachers are able to make that much more of a positive impact in the lives of their students. 🚸🎒👩🏾🏫 Learn more about how people benefit from our programs by following the link in our profile!
Well, I think that we all (including myself!) tend to stay in our little Instagram bubble. We only follow other artists and therefore, we are only interacting with each other. .
Then we wonder why our following is not growing or gaining those potential clients. 🧐A big part of that is because you are ONLY engaging with people in the bubble you’ve created and not going outside of it!
Let me just put it this way... When was the last time YOU left a comment on a post in your feed? When was the last time you interacted with other artists, or even other people in general? .
Let me let you in on a little secret.... Interaction is Engagement. And that engagement starts with YOU!
So if you’d like your engagement to go up, turn those that comment on your posts into clients, you have to be responding to your DM’s and comments, going out and liking and commenting on other people’s photos, replying to people’s IG stories and starting conversations. .
We have to stop complaining and take action! I’ve made this a priority as I’m scrolling through my feed that if someone’s post resonates with me, I leave a comment. Start by spreading the love. 💕 Than you will see how much that love is reciprocated. .
