Was supposed to be 3X30 @ <80% hr, but I got distracted by my audiobook, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, in the first interval. Harry just started hearing the hydra’s voice for the first time, and Mrs. Norris got petrified. Riveting stuff.
As someone who has always been so athletic it’s hard to not feel alone in my battle, even though I know there are others like me battling against cancer too. This is the reality of my power, or lack thereof, while on chemo. Although a light warm up focusing on length and technique, my HR still climbs above aerobic threshold. My red blood counts are below normal. I tell myself this every time the reality of my current performance is right there in front of me. Most of the time it makes me feel better.
My erg workouts are about focusing on length, rhythm and keeping my relative peak force on the left side of the curve. It’s how I motivate myself to stay focus. Especially during my 40+ mins low rating workouts.

Strictly speaking today was a test day but for some reason I thought I’d see what what 500m time I could do.
I don’t do 500m often, precious best was 1:42.6 so this is almost a 3s PB but I faded very quickly!
Yesterday, day nr 38 of 70 😎
A) VERTICAL with poles, from Doss dei Laresi to Paion del Cermis, for about 936 mt. ascent. A good slog on a very steep uphill. Not a maximal strain but in some splits vertical speed was up to 1.100 mt. / hour ... and great places and a good beer at Paion del Cermis. Photo 1-4 ⛰
B) back at home, SWING with the kg 14,4 girya: 4 round of 1 minute - 20 reps per round. One hand, high (well over the head, nearly vertical) swing. Switching hand every round 🏋️♂️
C) Pin SQUAT with the spider bar (Pin at hole nr 2 of the power rack): kg 56 - 12 round of 1 minute - 3 reps per round 🏋️♂️
D) LEG PRESS at the Megatec Compact leg: 185 reps. No added weight, only bodyweight 🏋️♂️
E) CALF RAISES on a step: 5 round of 1 minute - 12 reps per round. No added weight, only bodyweight 🏋️♂️
F) PULLUP (parallel grip): 6 round of 30 second - 2 reps per round 🏋️♂️
G) last but not least, the ROWING: 415 mt. * 7 / rest 1 minute, 30 second / Free Rate / target pace 1:48,4/500mt (2K minus 1). The long road to high rates... Photo 5 🛶
