Every year we close out our camping season at our favourite Yukon location, Frances lake. We setup camp and see how long we can last before being driven out by either weather or by provision loss. We spend a lot of time harvesting and supplementing our diets with wild fare, berries, mushrooms, greens, flowers, trout, grouse, they all add a lot of value to the food store. Every year is better than the next, some of our best days are spent there. It is a refreshing, and a spiritual time, and I would like to share some of that with you in the next days.
In this particular memory, I reflect on my oldest sons love for green life. At the entrance way to the campsite they always have beautiful flowers planted underneath the welcome sign. Valen took it upon himself to check up on them anytime we were near by, and would inspect the flowers and tell me if he thought they needed water. He would walk across the road to a tiny stream where he would fill his bottle and carry it back to water them. .
He learned to identify many wild flowers this year, and he knows many of their uses already, he is especially fond of dandelion and clover flowers in his salads. I feel like he will always have a green thumb, it's one of the things he is most drawn to.

If you want your dog to respond to you among squirrels, foxes and other dogs, start adding distractions gradually:
✅ Place a mild distraction nearby
✅ Ask your dog to perform a behavior she knows well
✅ Continue to increase the difficulty of the distractions
✅ Try again outside around natural distractions
✅ Adjust your expectations and increase the value of your treats when adding difficult distractions
Dawson City- no need to travel out of town to see the incredible northern lights. Because we are small and remote there is very little light pollution clouding your view of this captivating phenomenon!
We think it's time to check off this bucket list item off your list!

WHITEHORSE || We flew @flyairnorth and I am glad we did. Customer service and food are impeccable.👌🏽
Day 1 was fun. Due to dry weather, their powdery snow does not freeze over. I quickly realized how much of a diva Vancouver is. 😂
Our city tour started at the airport. We were picked up by @who_what_where_tours and the amazing Teah showed us around. The sense of community in this town is palpable. When our van was stuck in the snow, people got out of their cars to help. As a first timer, it was fun pushing the van, and using any paraphernalia to get some traction.
. @wayfareroysterhouse was our first meal and it did not disappoint! ONE OF THE BEST MEALS! They offer their oysters with whiskey drops alongside vinegar and hot sauce. Their sablefish appy and buckwheat pasta with clam meal are to die for! I drool just typing this out. HAHA
My big head moves around when being checked by Dr Graham.
He’s pretty thorough when I come in for a check up!
Happy to report: soy un poco gordito pero muy sano 😊
Thanks @alpinevetmc for the good care!

When I moved to Edmonton from Montreal, the typical local gray squirrel was replaced by the cute snowshoe hare. Our holidays in Whitehorse made me witness my first ever wild red fox. I thought when I saw 1 by our Air B n B I was lucky. Turns out I saw 3 that evening alone, three different individuals in fact. How do I know they were different individuals? I was lucky enough to see three different colour morphs in one short evening, it was awesome.
