Good morning lovely people! It’s Wednesday and that means ...🥁... No-school-day (yeeey). Consequently, it’s extremely unlikely I will find the time and the peace to seat, have a coffee (a hot one that is), peal a mandarin (for myself!) or flick through the pages of one of my favourite books.
In exchange, I’ll be building a pillow fortress in the couch, dodging the unavoidable attacks of my three master jedis and blowing and kissing booboos all day 😍
What’s on your Wednesday agenda?
Buen día mi gente!! Es viernes y eso significa... 🥁... niños-sin-escuela (yeeey!). Consecuentemente, dudo que hoy tenga tiempo de sentarme a tomar un café (al menos uno caliente), pelar una mandarina (y comerla yo solito) o disfrutar de uno de mis libros favoritos.
Our youngest children spent the day on the farm taking care of the horses yesterday. We washed them and fed them, sang the song about horses and imitated the sound they make. It was a great educational role-play activity. We were talking about the farm, where horses live, what they eat. Such a great day at the farm working as a team. #farm#horses#stables#farmlife#eyfs#dxbnurseries
I'm walking on sunshine...a little wind and NO Smoke 🌞
These blooming beauties are the gift that keeps on giving... their perky smiling faces are joyful beyond measure right now but once their petals drop we hang them in the packing shed and feed them to the chickens throughout the winter months.
There's an ease you feel when walking around vegetables taking shape. There's also a big sense of awe towards the intricacies of nature, of how the leaves curl and their mesh-like veins connect.
In this picture, you see marigolds to the extremen left, long garlic chives / leaves on their right and moving rightwards there is cauliflower followed by cabbage, turnips and tomatoes.
They grow from tiny seeds, to form such diverse shapes, with distinct smells and taste.
Working with them overwhelms you with the powers of the soil, the immense hold of the sun on life and the air that binds us in between them.
There's always work to be done, to try and rejuvenate the soil, look after irrigation, but so long as there's diversity in the fields, flowers and trees around them and no chemicals, nature amplifies all efforts you put in.
Most times it'll help undo the wrongs you've done too, ones that we must learn to not repeat. Like here, this bit of our vegetable patch needs more mulching, too clean and devoid of dry leaves. Let us get to it.
It’s been fun while it lasted!!

This is my husband.... gah! Where do I even start?! We were made for each other, I love him so much, all that cutsie smooshie stuff...
I never imagined the support I’d get from him as I’ve ventured out to “do my own thing.” From the moment I quit my job, to the day I told him I wanted to spend money to start a blog that we might not see a return on, and the day I told him I wanted to sell cheese out of our garage... he’s been unbelievably supportive.
Today, I asked him to take over Insta stories and he actually blew my mind with the effort he put into it. I was surprised because he sure grumbled about #takeovertuesday but it looked like he actually had fun! 😂 Go check it out and let us know what you think! Should this be a weekly thing?
I feel blessed. So, to celebrate our wonderful spouses, tell me your FAVORITE thing about your partner in crime. 💛 📸 @emilylynnsara

It’s another chilly morning here on the homestead. It’s been so nice to have a heated workshop this year to work on our projects this winter. This is the time of the year we like to work on the projects that we put off during the nice weather. We know we are going to have a long winter and are going to needs projects to keep us busy so we don’t get cabin fever. Can’t lye though I am framing of spring time green grass baby chicks piglets and baby goats. I am dreaming up some new projects for this growing season that should bring Lumnah acres to the next level of food production. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. 😂 #winter#homesteading#farmlife#project#snow
