Here's a female tītipounamu, less colourful than the male, but equally adorable! A fun fact about tītipounamu is they raise their broods in a neighbourhood, they establish territories next to other pairs and raise their young together!
A tiny male tītipounamu (Rifleman) at @visit_zealandia. These little birds aren't technically on the 'threatened' list of NZ bird species but because they nest in the cavities of trees they're very vulnerable to predators. Tītipounamu form long term pair bonds, and only re-pair up if their mate dies. I love finding these birds at @visit_zealandia, especially seeing a pair is quite heart warming.

The White-winged Fairy-wren has some competition for my favourite birds! Thise guys were super cute running around our feet at the eco-retreat. Unfortunately I have struggled to get the colours right in the video, but you get to see a cute little display.
