- @kuwtketodashians inspired me to also clean out my fridge before I grocery shop! So today’s lunch is brought to you by whatever I could add to a salad without going to the store 💁🏼♀️
I used lettuce, blackened chicken, salami, pepper-jack cheese, black olives, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, banana peppers, and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese!
Grande rotisserie d’heritage Louise Passard at 3 Michelin-star Restaurant Arpège in Paris. This time it was pork shank. Easily the best roast we’ve ever had - juicy, packed with flavour, mouthwateringly tender with delicious crispy bits. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 — August 2019

-Name: Daybreak Kitchen & Biscuit Co. (@daybreakbiscuit)
-Location: Sterling, VA
-First impression: Modern atmosphere, classic food
-Travel rating: Would visit again! We found Daybreak to be such an unexpected hidden gem. With a menu full of modern twists on old classics, you’d expect to find a place like this in a big city. However, it’s nestled in a refurbished industrial park and attached to the restaurant and brewery from our last post. We found it be a great afternoon meal, but would also be a great spot for brunch with a group of friends!
-Food rating: Where to begin with the La La biscuit? It was a delicious take on a classic spicy chicken biscuit with a Korean flair. The spiciness of the chicken, paired with the acidity from the pickles and freshness of the cilantro-lime slaw made for a tasty combination. While their menu contained so many more tasty looking combinations, we would be hard pressed to not order at least one more of these next time we go.
Upcoming Class Highlight! We are so excited to be debuting our first ever St Patrick’s Day class. Inspired by our many trips exploring Ireland’s vast and evolving food scene, we’ve developed a menu of authentic, cozy and vibrant food to celebrate the country’s best known festival. Tickets available on our website now!

THE INTERSECTION OF HEALTH AND INDULGENCE 🍞🍳
Okay, I don't know what the exact intersection is, but I'm pretty sure there are runny duck egg yolks there 🤤🤤🤤 and while I may not eat bread often, when I do I make sure it's high quality and made locally - there's room for all foods in my diet (but how and when I incorporate them is variable!).
This is another good example of how I'm trying to feed my body nourishing foods WITHOUT putting caloric restrictions on myself. I have a busy day today and it's important that I remember to put enough fuel in my tank to actually do all the things I want to do today. Restrictive diets only ever serve to leave me feeling hangry and tired!
✌🏻 slices of @publicanqualitybread sesame semolina toast + shredded chicken breast tossed in harissa + spinach + fried local duck eggs + TJ's onion salt + red pepper flakes
pokeworks grand opening is having a BOGO [$10.50] today! 🥰 // @pokeworks_cstat
~ thoughts ~⠀
poke bowl: up till a year ago - I was always very hesitant of trying a poke bowl because I’m not a huge fan of raw fish 😅 - however most of the poke places have other options for you to try! At pokeworks, you can get chicken and tofu, which is what I got today~ ⠀
atmosphere: wide open windows & a choice to sit outside! They opened at 11 am today and it was kind of getting packed as it’s their grand opening! other days it’s a little more laid back 🥰
wait time: one of my favorite reason why I love getting poke is because it’s super fast! - kind of like chipotle - you tell them what you want & bam you get a bowl of deliciousness at the end! so no wait time ⏰
overall: perfect place to get a quick & balanced meal! love coming here to get lunch by myself or with a friend~ ⠀⠀ ⠀
This chicken noodle soup was made using a free-range chicken from a local farm which was slow-cooked for five hours. The chicken wats boned and made into stock. The vegetables were sauteed and added into the stock with homemade egg noodles. This was a wonderful winter meal.
This weekend’s plans were foiled by a rouge fevered kid on Friday night, but I’ll take the opportunity to stay in and recipe test any day. I think we’re all gonna like these Strawberry Cheesecake Bites, so thanks, Jackson, for the opportunity to make them. 😅 #wlkitchen
Another day, another eggy breakfast. Today I mixed riced cauliflower into my sour cream eggs and topped with kale chips and sliced avocado. New standard!! 😍 I need a sweet thing with every meal (🤷🏻♀️), so I added some raspberries with cinnamon and @julianbakery Paleo Thin #keto bread with crunchy pb 🥜

Long life & good health. Chinese lunar new year feast would not be complete without Longevity Noodles. Shiitake mushrooms, Chinese chives and pea pods are quickly stir fried with oyster sauce (+soy, ginger, sesame oil) and the longest noodles you can find. Don’t cut or break them!! Fold in your cooked noodles and top with scallions. If you like, add thinly sliced, stir fried chicken or beef, or enjoy meat free. Gong hei fat choy!🧧

Last theme of this week #ecsw20 spices & herbs 🌿 i choose star anise 🤎 @thelittleplantation #eatcaptureshare
I took this photo of star anise couple of weeks ago as i bought 1kg of this amazing spice 😂 not sure why I bough so much 🤣Will probably have it for another 10 years.
But star anise is truly stunning model. •
WHEW. Wow. I now understand why I could never quite find a description of the food at @badsaintdc that told me what to expect. It’s probably partly because Filipino food is not broadly represented in mainstream food culture - what IS Filipino food?? I don’t know - but this modern take somehow felt both familiar and inspired.
Bottom line first: YES. It is worth it - worth the wait, worth the cost. The plate sizes are great for sharing and larger than what you would get at places of similar caliber - @_adam_jolley_ and I could have stopped eating after just 2 dishes but obviously couldn’t stop. If you like any variety of Asian food, you will like this and it is well worth it to go.
Longer version: again - wow. I can’t make this one post because it would be way too long, so for now you get my favorite dish (???) of the night:
Ginataang Ulang: lobster, durian, coconut milk. I couldn’t personally taste durian flavors so I assume it contributed more to the texture. LOTS of whole, sweet, scrumptious lobster pieces. The chilis were 🔥 - there’s just something about Asian hot chili peppers that bring a pointed, bright, deep heat that I cannot get enough of. But the dish was so balanced overall. We were so full but couldn’t stop scooping up every bite.
We loved every dish we had. They do not currently offer the tasting menu but honestly - I think you are better off ordering plates individually than potentially eating something that is more interesting than the best bite of food ever.
Reservations open up a month in advance as we all know, but @davideatsdc gave a great reminder to check from time to time if you have the flexibility to take any random time. We scored a same day, late night dinner and it was really lovely. The small space was charming, with plenty of room and friendly service.
I would absolutely go back for another visit when the menu changes again ♥️ Full review of our other dishes to come 🤤 #czeatsdc#dmvfoodiecrew
