So in love with her #mentalhealth Monday’s series | what people don’t understand is that mental help is so important and we get so involved in the social media world 🌍 | take time each day to make sure your mental health is where it should be. .
I’ve recently switched up my routine to the “bro split” (push, pull, legs- repeat). Pull day is probably my favorite day of the week. Finishing up my workout with some preacher curls.
Try this to finish up your workout.

The quality of your life comes entire down to your own interpretations of the experiences you have. “Humans see what they want to see.” The difference between having a good or bad day depends entirely on the way you choose to view the day.

⚖️The weighing scale is NOT worth it 🧐.
The scale can be a great tool to help analyze your progress - whether you are training to lose fat or build muscle. But a lot of people are using the scale all wrong & feeling emotional highs/lows by a single incomplete number.
The scale CAN measure✅:
💡Your bodyweight & effect on gravity.
💡It can be used as an objective marker of progress (to be used WITH progress photos, measurements).
What the scale can NOT ❌ measure:
💡Your only source of progress.
💡Changes in body composition (in which you may lose fat & build muscle together).
It’s so important to note that your body weight fluctuates daily (it can fluctuate from 1-5lbs based on changes in sodium intake, stress (cortisol increases water retention), fluid intake, bowel movements, lack of sleep, hard workouts, etc). Hence if you weigh yourself daily, you will always seek a "reason" why it went up or down on that day & tie all your emotions to it. Even after 3 years of pursuing mindful health, I feel a twinge when I see a slight increase from yesterday's weight.
I measure my progress with before/after photos, body composition scans (done monthly - DXA or In-body), changes in my strength & energy 🌈, how my clothes fit & the happiness in my mind 🧠!.
It is SO hard to build & sustain happiness in your mind, don't let a stupid device (YES stupid ) ruin it all. You are more than your weight!
it’s a NEW WEEK ⚡️⚡️ LETS CRUSH IT TOGETHER .

Had a super long day today and my soon to be hubby brought home dinner. Yummm I’m in the middle of a challenge and this is clean eating compliant from Sharkys. I get to eat everything on this plate. I’m so happy! Everything there is organic and wild caught. So all good. Thanks babe!
BROKEN BUT NOT DEFEATED!
So just as 2020 was off to a great start, life decided to throw me a curveball in the form of an acute... or chronic back injury. What I thought was a herniated disc could be soft tissue damage from a lifetime of use and abuse coupled with a recent squat injury.
So over the last 3 weeks, and over the next 6-8 weeks I have modified my training to avoid most all spinal loading and unsupported horizontal pulling exercises. This makes my goal of increasing my body weight to a lean 275 lb this winter won't be happenin...
Can't get huge without key heavy compound movements! So rather then wallow in my own despair over an injury which only time (and proper healing modalities) will heal, it's time to change my goals for the next few months.
I'm now focusing on a thorough detox. I will stop taking ALL supplements and give my body a well deserved break. My receptors need to be resensitized, so I will be more responsive when I resume my bulking protocol in the following months.
I'm not excited to not feel superhuman during this detox, but it's primarily a mindfuck that I can counter with a strong mind and intense AF training. I will focus on my calisthenics training, and return to yoga.
THE ONLY CONSTANT IN LIFE IS CHANGE! If you're unable to pivot when adversity manifests, you'll just end up like all the other failures out there, who give up when shit ain't going their way.
This injury gives me more time to focus on my online projects which I hope to be releasing before the month's end. My online training app will be released concurrently with my YouTube channel where I will educate you on life in and outside of prison in Canada, and everything fitness related.
ALL REAL TALK, NO BULLSHIT! .
Still happy AF to be alive n kickin, coaching others, and Livin as a free man. Keepin it 💯

✨ask me about my favorite place✨
The craziest thing about @cb_middletownstation is how I’ve taken almost 200 classes, and it STILL challenges me. I have classes where I feel like I’m flying on top of the world, and I have classes where my legs won’t listen to my brain, and I can’t make them move as fast as they need to. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve definitely improved and my body is 100% stronger. But the hard days happen to everyone! Tonight, @mady_martin said, “Maybe you try and and you don’t get it the first time. And maybe you try again and you don’t get it the fifth time. And maybe you keep trying and you still don’t get it by the fiftieth time. But the point is, you keep trying and you will get it someday.” Those words stuck with me after class, and really apply to my current life situation. So every day, I get up, I keep trying, and while I keep trying, I have a place that lifts me up no matter what kind of day I’ve had. How lucky am I for that? •
Too many start a diet and never get to where they want to be. Or they lose the weight but then gain it right back. This is mostly caused by people going from burgers and fries go starving themselves. Start slow. Make small changes so that they are sustainable. A great start is to eat more protein and fiber and drink more water. Protein and fiber keep you full for much longer than other sources of food. Make sure you eat protein with every meal and preferably veggies as well. After incorporating those two things into your diet you will feel much more full and not have to eat as much.

Day off from work doesn’t mean we aren’t putting other work in! When you have goals that you need to accomplish, don’t let anything stand in your way. Put the work in and results will happen!

A healthy lifestyle is so much more than how you look on the outside. Being consistent with proper nutrition and exercise has a huge impact on your mind, attitude and mood. Anyone who has grown mentally, physically or spiritually knows that you have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Growth is not found in comfort.
