The Porsche 904 Carrera GTS - Porsche’s Type 904, officially called the Carrera GTS because Porsche and Peugeot were in dispute over numeric designations with “0” in them, succeeded the RSK Type 718 as the last sports-racing iteration of the 356 series. Developed after Porsche left Formula One in 1962, the 904 (as it soon became popularly known) was also the last full-competition Porsche that could be readily driven on the street.
The 904’s designer was the 28-year-old Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche III, the son of company chairman “Ferry” Porsche. “It was my favourite”, he later told Porsche historian Karl Ludvigsen, “Because I did it alone and there wasn’t this fight to change it or make it newer. It was designed and finished”. Porsche designed the GTS variant to compete in the FIA-GT class at various international racing events. The street-legal version debuted in 1964 in order to comply with Group 3 homologation regulations requiring a certain number of road-going variants be sold by the factory. Porsche produced 106 904s at four or five a day with a list price of US$7245 (FOB Stuttgart).

Factory VW dual port tin, original and aftermarket dual port manifolds, original and aftermarket valve covers fit right on! You can also use stock or high ratio rocker arm assemblies on Street Eliminators.
Cylinder and combustion chamber scavenging in the Street Eliminator is more complete than with conventional ports. Squeeze exhaust ports improve power output throughout the complete RPM range. Soot and deposits left over from incomplete chamber scavenging add to blow-by problems and squeeze exhaust ports help to eliminate this.
With valve sizes up to 44 x 37.5 and CNC porting available, Street Eliminators will keep you in the winners circle!
