2015 Magali Bernard Bourgogne Coulanges-la-Vineuse Chanvan Clos du Roi was expressive, complex and perfumed. The developing Pinot Noir was clear and pale ruby in colour, with charming nose of earth, forest floor, red cherries, smoke and liqourice. On the palate, it was dry, with medium level of acidity and medium level of finely grained tannin. Complex and intense flavours of red cherries, strawberries, mulberries, spices and earth built on the palate and lingered in a satisfyingly long finish.
The wine was tasted blind in BIVB-supported Masterclass, eloquently presented by Christophe Waters (@waters_wine). The reported price was EUR 7.10. Coulanges-la-Vineuse is a regional appellation in north-west Burgundy close to Chablis, Irancy and Saint-Bris. Red wine is made from Pinot Noir, and minor addition of César is permitted to give colour and structure. The vines are mainly growth on limestone-rich kimmeridgian soil.
It is the last post or the Bourgogne blind tasting series.
