3 years of training represented by a piece of metal.
Since I'm a kid I do all kinds of sport. I have always been fascinated by competing on the highest level like the Olympics or World Championships.
3 years ago I got hucked up with Triathlon. It's crazy when I think about how things have changed since then. From beeing out of breath after 50m freestyle swimming to winning my agegoup in 70.3 Oman and getting a slot for the World Champs.
Last weekend I competed in my first ever Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice/France. Bucket list point check! Fulfilling this dream was really special. Proud to take part in one of the biggest events in triathlon. But this also gives me a reality check on how good the guys on top of the world really are. I got 178th place in my Agegroup (M24-29) out of nearly 300. (1097 overall of 3300).
But more important: Except for the swim I'm pretty happy with my race after all the hard work and sacrifice. With a 1:26 Halfmarathon I could finally put a solid run performance together.
Thanks to my training squad, my teammates and all my friends who followed and supported my journey. Special thanks to my parents who support me since day one. I was super happy to have them in Nice alongside the course too.
Pretty excited what's next to come.
For now its time to enjoy the Off-Season and support the boyz in their final races.
