WORKOUT WEDNESDAY .
It’s workout Wednesday! Whether we work together or not, this is a great quick workout to start your day with. Make this a part of your routine and it will make a big difference! .
This week it is the Magnificent 7’s Workout!
7 Push Ups.
7 Russian Twists.
7 Triceps Dips.
Repeat for 7 rounds as fast as you can with good form- Feel free to substitute the exercises but try and make them equally challenging. #GETTHEEDGE

Our lovely Bear is called Ted, he's a sweet and relaxed soul, doesn't worry about anything in the world as he knows he's always in good hands. Ted is always hungry though and can eat anything at any time of the day! 🍕🌮🥪🌯 Duck's name is Dö who as you can tell is our cute cheeky naughty fella! He's full of life, loves a good adventure and is always up to something! Despite his naughtiness, Dö is very smart, kind at heart and takes full responsibility of keeping our hungry Ted well-fed at all times of the day (or night!) 😅

Sometimes I like to do nothing but pull 200+kg. Sometimes I like to lift and throw around as fast as possible. Sometimes I work on tempo to build tolerance and control. Sometimes I perform exercises that work on my weak links.

Working on my spinning side kick. Got a long way to go to get to Joe Rogans level. Did 100 on each side tonight! In addition I hit 100 Thai kicks on each side and super set with pull-ups and burpees. Great to be hitting the bag again and teaching myself a new skill but a long night. Need to be pivoting instead of stepping and turning with my side kicks. Can’t wait to master this technique! Messi & Ronaldo 😍🤩🤷🏻♂️
This is far from a “who’s better?” post. Messi just won his record breaking 6th Ballon d’Or, but it isn’t as simple as that. We are past THAT debate. I just feel lucky to be able to have said I’ve seen these two very different players develop into the legends they will become. Let’s break down their differences.
Messi is 5’7 compared to Ronaldo’s 6’2 - this impacts their playing styles. Messi uses his lower centre of mass and masterful balance to dance around players. He seems to also possess a higher “Footballer IQ” where he senses body angles of defenders, sees when they are most vulnerable and is able to exploit poor positioning to advance. Ronaldo on the other hand is another breed of athlete - very physical and raw - he screams power, speed and tenacity where he relies (?) more so on his superior physical attributes to beat defenders and sheer power in strikes to score.
If I could only take one...I’ve changed my mind over the years and even though I believe Messi to be the better footballer, I’d choose Ronaldo due to his attitude, determination, his ability to deliver on big occasions and that he may possibly play a longer career and achieve more in the long term to Messi... Don’t get me wrong, I do believe Messi is cerebral enough to change his style as his physical attributes diminish, but I just feel he would be satisfied finishing at the top of his game, whereas CR7 wants every record going, down to oldest player to score a hatty I’d say 🤣

The best coaches are thieves 🦊
In this day and age, there are so many great resources out there with people doing such fantastic work. My favourite podcasts @justflysports and @strengthofscience that consistently send waves of coaches that I add to a list who I then go back and research. Instagram accounts such as @strong_by_science sends a positive scientific message that has grown considerably over the past year. Then there are coaches and practitioners who I converse with regularly (in person or online) that allows me to continually (hopefully) grow. Rather than just blindly stealing and using exercises, I aim to become proficient at them, and if I like them and feel they offer a place in my library then I’ll use them with athletes.
Instagram as a platform is amazing for this reason, but equally there is some utter garbage out there. Blue ticks and 50k followers don’t mean a thing 🐒

After a busy off season I wouldn’t change, I received this text and I almost cried. First pre season game in a freak accident left @benfox98 in a nasty way, physically and mentally. It’s been a long road back, but we’re not there yet. I met up with him last week and this is where we’re at. I can’t wait to see him out on the pitch again 🤩🦊

Change of direction in my opinion is the most important quality for team sport athletes - in football, a player changes direction every 2-4 seconds (Verheijen, 1997) and makes 1200-1400 changes of direction per game (Bangsbo, 1992). _____
Single leg stiffness has been shown to improve change of direction ability (Maloney et al, 2019) - here are some of my favourite single leg drills to emphasise power development while minimising ground contact time. I’m using the new model of G-Flight by @exsurgo.us and @strong_by_science to measure ground contact time.

Every athlete is different - you will find weaknesses in a range of areas. Once identified, address the issue. The hip complex is often overlooked, and with all of your locomotive movement deriving from the hip, it’s an imperative link to work on. We must expose the body to varying tempos, contractions and loads 🔥
