The holidays are coming to an end and it’s back to work tomorrow.. but I do have to say this was a great way to start 2020! I’m excited for the things ahead.

Making plans to climb more mountains this year ⛰️ this was a pretty special day, I tried to tackle the same hike the year before and almost passed out from exhaustion and stubbornness (I actually went temporarily blind for a bit which I think is the cue to have a sit down)...but 2 years before that, I couldn't even climb a flight of stairs. I doubt I'll be trail running any time soon but I honestly can't wait to get my boots back on so that @r2dougal can mock me for looking like Lara Croft (while also being grateful for my fannypack snacks) #outside#girlswhohike#icanclimbmountains#bumbagfullofcake
With fur babies, it might be difficult to go backpacking for a couple months, book a flight on a whim or move to a new country overseas. I want to see the world, often spontaneously, and it can be a bummer once that reality sets in. But I wouldn’t change a thing. A little more planning or taking shorter trips is absolutely worth it, because my life would certainly not feel whole or complete without them, without their unconditional love or contagious joy. 🐾🧡🐾
As we are digging out of the latest snowmageddon in Vancouver, I realized there is still a lot of winter left. I went onto Google flights and looked where I could fly this week for cheap that had a sunny forecast.
Phoenix it is!
I booked a flight yesterday but a better flight came up today. I exercised my right to cancel with a full refund within 24 hours and quickly rebooked a flight getting me there a few hours earlier.
In a few short days I'll be in sunny Arizona for only $250 return from Vancouver.
I've shared some of my flight booking tips here. If you have any tips to share, tag me @wanderingsincedawn

Happy long weekend Welly! We took this sunny Monday to hop on a lil ferry, go wandering in the sunshine on an island out in the bay, spot parrots and sheep and weta, explore abandoned quarantine stations, visit a lighthouse, climb through gun encampments, eat a picnic lunch with this view and mostly just roam about having a wholesome lovely day. 🦋 || #JanzDownUnder

Basically how my Sunday morning went 😂 I woke up early for about thirty minutes before I went back to sleep. Seems that's been my habit lately and one I most definitely want to change.
This week I'm going to focus on getting to bed at a decent time so I don't oversleep. 😭 Making sure I get enough sleep to function and get up early to do the things I set out to do.
I'll be making an effort to put actual times on my schedule to push play for my workout, walk Scrumpers, check in with my accountability friends, and make time for any coach trainings this week. 🤓 Aiming to be more organized and intentional.
Thankfully the day wasn't all me laying around 😂 as we DID get out for an afternoon hike for some exercise. Scrumpers first hike with us 🐾 and he was definitely tired out afterwards. 😊
Aiming to set our for at least one hike a month this year 😃 Hoping to find more trails he can join us on but probably stick to the short and flat ones for any he tags along for.

I love to challenge myself. I have this thirst for adventure which is never fulfilled. I always find ways to make my heart race. And I love this constant urge that comes from my heart. It makes me get out of my comfort zone and learn new things, widen my horizons, run behind the unknown. .
Do you like challenging yourself? If yes give me a high five ✋

Moody clouds around the peaks of Fitz Roy. Unfortunately, this was the best weather we got during our stay in the hiking town of El Chalten. The next day brought gale force winds and continuous heavy rainfall - which meant we missed another hike to an iconic viewpoint (look up the hike to the base of Cerro Fitz Roy to see what I mean)🙄😭. That's Patagonian weather for ya 🤦🏻♀️
Somewhere all of us, at some part of the time are broken inside. And we all look for that healing source. As they say everything heals with time. But what you do in that healing period decides the healing process duration and pain you endure.
Whether you travel to heal yourself or just for pleasure isn’t important. The important thing is you should travel. Travel not to check box but to discover yourself.
And lastly, if you really want to know yourself – Travel Alone.
Absence of people might make you feel alone but you will never be lonely.
Because these mountains, they will always be with you.
Fun fact: it is a dreammmm of mine to hike the Pacific Coast Trail. Not entirely sure about it but I've met a lot of amazing women who have done it and I figure, why not!? So, I joined @girlswhohikeofficial and attended a group snowshoe hike up near Peter Grubb Hut today. First time snowshoeing and I didn't fall but I for sure almost did like 6 times. Weather was beautiful. I can feel a slight sunburn on my face but NBD. S/o to @adventuroussouljewelry for facilitating and carpooling! 💜

❂ Every time I talk about “real life”/ how the every-day stuff is how I spend the majority of my time, I get responses from people saying how refreshing it is to read that — because Instagram can often make us all feel lame if we aren’t on a permanent vacation/adventure.
❂ I think it’s human nature to want to put our best foot forward in every aspect of life; especially the image we portray to people. What’s trippy about social media is that we get to completely curate the version of us that we want to show the world. So of course we want to post about the fun, cool, beautiful moments. The “done up” version of ourselves. No one posts when they feel ugly, insecure, or when they’re sitting on the couch eating Oreos 🤷🏼♀️ This has started to bother me more and more as my page has grown because I know how imperfect my life is, yet people will message me remarks about how pretty/perfect everything seems for me. It’s so kind but just NOT the whole reality. .
❂ So in the spirit of real-ness, I am going to start sharing more of the imperfect moments + day-to-day stuff. Because I think Instagram could use a little more “hey I relate to that” and less “wow my life will never be that perfect”. OKAY off my soapbox now happy mondayyyy ✌︎
⇻⇻ #sponsored I’ve always been the type of gal to throw on face lotion with a tiny bit of built-in SPF and call it a day. But ever since I got back from living in a tent all summer, I realized - YIKES I have visible sun damage on my face!! Like legit sun spots! It’s one thing to hear about the affects of UV rays on your skin, and it’s another thing entirely to actually see them. I knew that doing the bare minimum just wasn't gonna cut it anymore, and that’s where @Neutrogena ’s Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion with SPF30 came in handy. .
⇻⇻ This SPF has been a lifesaver for me this winter. Neutrogena is the #1 sunscreen brand used by dermatologists, so I can trust that it’s doing it’s job. My whole family has always used Neutrogena's sunscreens, too! This one in particular has been great because it's lightweight, non-greasy, and my skin soaks it right up, so it doesn't leave behind that weird sunscreen feeling. I can apply it on my face and body, too - no need for two separate products! Take care of that skin + still enjoy all the outdoor adventures, all year with Neutrogena's sunscreens - link is in my bio to shop them!

I can’t believe my first summit of the year was one of my least favorite mountains 😅
but nonetheless, just happy to be out there #summitsunday
❂ I heard the most amazing + vulnerable message at @redrockschurch yesterday that I really believe will resonate with every person. We all struggle at some point (or all the time) with anxiety, feeling the pressures of life, feeling like we aren’t good enough, etc. These are heavy weights to carry around constantly and don’t allow us to really live with the peace/joy we all want to experience. I don’t have this all figured out (i struggle with these things daily to varying degrees) but I seriously encourage you to tune in to this message ‘A Necessary Ending’ on their app ▸▸▸ it was a seriously life-changing message + a necessary reminder that every person is fighting a silent battle. We might as well be real about it and encourage each other along the way ❂
