Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day was 9/21/19, where you can get a pair of free tickets to 1 museum of the many listed & I chose MOFAD.
Chow celebrates the birth & evolution of the Chinese American Restaurant. They show how fortune cookies are made & at the end give a sample food. I tried their crab Rangoon & the piña colada rice pudding. The crab Rangoon was sooooo good better than the ones I get at the Chinese store. Although I’m not a big fan of rice pudding, it was good as well.

In the place I go into my flow state. 🏞
Also, invest in a waterproof bag and rent neoprene socks/water boots before hiking The Narrows at @zionnps. I'm 5'4 and there were multiple areas I had water up to my collar bone. On my way back I was definitely wishing for a different shirt since mine was soaking and the temperature drops drastically as the sun starts going down 🥶

I go among trees and sit still. My stirring becomes quiet around me like circles on water.
My tasks lie in their places where I left them, asleep like cattle.
Then what is afraid of me comes
and lives a while in my sight.
What it fears in me leaves me,
and the fear of me leaves it.
It sings, and I hear its song.
Then what I am afraid of comes.
I live for a while in its sight.
What I fear in it leaves it,
and the fear of it leaves me.
It sings, and I hear its song.
This was my second attempt at An Caisteal, the previous one being about 6 years ago. The contrast in hill day experiences really got me thinking.
The underfoot conditions that day were poor, with snow in places. The weather also turned part way through the ascent and the wind became stronger than anticipated from the forecast with rain/snow hampering visibility. The decision was made by the group to turn back.
Making the decision to turn back, or otherwise change a hiking plan can be a difficult one for some people to comprehend. I have had many non-hiking friends ask me how I feel about ‘failing’ an attempt at a trek or hill. However, I don’t see it as failing, and that’s not just a refusal to use that word. I just don’t see turning back or altering plans as a negative thing. Those decisions are often harder to make than the one to continue trudging onwards. Not many people like to face up to their limitations, but I feel that having the ability to truly understand the boundaries of your abilities is critical in the hills.
If in doubt, I’d always rather err on the side of safety; the mountains will still be there for a future attempt. Yesterday was a prime example of that; the mountain was a different place entirely: bright clear skies, sun and perfect visibility.
I believe mountains are there to be enjoyed, not endured. I’d rather still be there tomorrow to enjoy them. . 📸 1 & 2 @roxannagbaz .

Our first day with @pursuitglacierpark and I’m thrilled with how amazing it has been so far! We stayed in the most beautiful St Mary Tiny Homes where these mountains are out the door. I’ve always wanted to stay in a tiny home ✨ #pursuitlife
