This still of Cillian Murphy in 2006’s 'The Wind That Shakes the Barley’ has a very cool Peaky Blinders connection. Posting again if you missed it the first time because it’s a good one. Swipe 👉 to see the connection, explained below:
In 2012 when Peaky Blinders was in development, design firm @momoco_film_titles created the show's logo, title typeface and other design elements that are so integral to the show. Their initial mood and storyboards used stills of Cillian from ‘The Wind That Shakes the Barley' as stand ins for Tommy Shelby, who didn't yet exist. Swipe for some examples of those title storyboards. AND a bonus, fascinating look at the different typefaces/logos they experimented with before settling on the one we’ve come to know and love.
If you’ve never watched The Wind That Shakes the Barley, do. Cillian’s performance is remarkable. It'll break your heart, but you've got to watch it at least once.
