MOM GUILT 🌟
There are so many versions of "Mom Guilt"... *cough* ALL BULLSHIT! *cough* 🤷♀️😇. But even though they are all BS, the emotion behind them still feels so real. The worry, the self-judgement, the stress + anxiety, the sadness, the anger, the resentment... the list goes on and on as we criminalize ourselves, actions, & decisions. This phrase and the sensations tied to it can appear so heavy, bearing the invisible weight of "lack". .
Most recently I've felt mom guilt come up when my text messages, phone calls, emails, etc. have been delayed. When I'm running late or sometimes cancel my attendance to an event. Really, this list goes on and on! My mind/ego tell me that I am not doing a good enough job- that I should be better and that I am falling behind in the marathon we call, Life. .

Thank God I am awake + aware enough to know that thoughts like this DO NOT SERVE my Highest Good and Purpose. Thank God I know that Life isn't a marathon at all, but an infinite and open-ended journey. And, Thank God I recognize that I am always doing the best that I can at any given moment with the awareness that I currently have. Every day I actively work to release these types of fear-based thoughts. Most days something finds it's way, front and center, from the chatter of my small self. Gratefully, it has become habit to find a new way of looking at my inner world + experience. That does not mean the emotion triggered dissipates right away.. but it does lighten the load and illuminate the road to Truth/Healing 💙
Compassion, PRACTICE, and, as my dear friend @revmariafelipe says- BIG WILLINGNESS, are key.
May we choose our thoughts with loving care 🙏.

A little piece I threw together, today. In the shower, this morning, I couldn't keep myself from thinking about the concept of reality vs. perceived reality. To some degree, everything is perceived reality. Even facts and evidence are shaped by the circumstances existing around them. I often wonder if things that I feel and see are simply due to the way I want to see them or if I see them the way that I do because they want me to see them that way. Really, all there is to do is listen to my inner truth, follow my moral compass, and make the best of the ride. One day, I'll be able to look back and see the pieces of life's puzzle for exactly what they were. Fore sight is just as meaningful as reflection. How do you find your rhythm after a long weekend? Today, mine was coffee and and a devotional.
I asked for a women’s devotional for Christmas and my guy delivered with “Five Minutes in the Morning.” It’s “365 inspirations to encourage your soul every day of the year” and it’s done just that so far. I wake up, sit on the side of my bed, do some deep breathing, gratitude practice and then dive into my devotional and maybe even some journaling regarding my thoughts on what I’ve just read. I’ll even scribble notes on how to apply it to my day. How do you use devotionals?
On Sunday, I went to spend time with a friend who is battling cancer. I’d texted to her to check on her and found out she’d been in the hospital the week prior and currently has a cold from her weakened immune system and 3 uncomfortable days in the ER from the side effects of her chemotherapy. When I asked what I could do to help, she asked if I could pick up some cough medicine for her from the pharmacy. I did just that. This morning, the scripture from today’s devotion, “Even though good people may be bothered by trouble seven times, they are never defeated; Proverbs 24:16 NCV” helped us both and we counted this new day as another blessing. Because it most surely is.

Start by finding a comfortable area to be still, close your eyes and start honoring all that you have. Focus and go through the things you have been grateful for, really feel it in your heart. Even though you might not be able to see your aura, it will have already shifted after doing this 😀 and most of us know by now that like attracts like ✨
Be open to whatever visions and or feelings the subconscious mind sends your way. Everything means something. Ask your higher self questions and just be open to receive.
This practice will help you in so many areas of your life.

Hi instafriends! The past couple of weeks turned into an unplanned social media break, which I needed even when I didn’t realize it. (Feels good with a mini-break now and then. Highly recommended.) But I’ve missed my people here! We just can’t shake the grayness here in Sweden, and you all add so much color and creativity and joyfulness to my everyday. Thank you! And I’m also grateful for a city that encourages colorful streets.
We could all use “a riot of color in a dreary, gray world.” (Can you name that movie?) Look around for what colors your everyday and give thanks for it. 🎨 .
I've started doing a morning routine with Teen Son (when he gets up several hours after I do). I realized with everything I know about the power of a morning routine and what it's done for me, it would be a jerk move not to share that with him.
So even though it was initially against his wishes, we read from his devotional, pray, do a SHORT meditation from Headspace, write down at least 5 things we're grateful for, and then do about 2 minutes of jumping jacks and push ups.
Does he love it? NO.
Can I already see it making a difference? Yes.
This morning he told me he wrote down 20 things he's grateful for. So since he seems to be good at coming up with things I said the next step would be to actually work on feeling grateful for each thing as he writes it down.
HIM: What's gratitude feel like?
ME:... Remember when you got that fancy extra clicky light up keyboard at Christmas? And you were so excited you didn't even want to open the rest of your presents because you just wanted to play with the lights and click the (EXTREMELY LOUD) keys?
P.S. Why did I buy him such a loud keyboard????

Over the Christmas break, several of our moms who have moved on toward independence, reached out to say thank you. They expressed their gratitude and sent love to everyone who helped them to make tough but rewarding life changing decisions.

This is probably the single most impactful lesson I’ve gained in the last decade. Realizing that just because I think something doesn’t make it true. ⠀⠀

Our thoughts create the lens through which we process all of life. We’re constantly looking for information to confirm what we already believe to be true, and ignoring evidence to the contrary, especially when it comes to what we think about ourselves. ⠀
Just because you THINK you’re a certain way—an insecure person, a lazy person, a Type A person—doesn’t necessarily make it true. ⠀⠀
For a long time my beliefs about myself subtly ruled my life. I thought I was unworthy, less than, not enough. My thoughts only continued to perpetuate these beliefs, and I never thought to question them. Until I heard the phrase that changed it all. ⠀⠀
Don’t believe everything you think. ⠀⠀
Now I work to hold my thoughts lightly. I pay attention and choose which ones to reinforce and which to question. I try and build a playful relationship with them. “What a silly thought,” I say back to harmful self-deprecation, “I wonder where that came from.”⠀⠀
Working with our thoughts requires intention, it requires effort, and it has been the most important step in learning how to love myself. ⠀⠀
Self love doesn’t start with grand gestures. It starts in the small ways we treat our thoughts, and looking at which ones we allow to persist, and which we nonjudgmentally challenge. ⠀⠀
Just because you think something doesn’t make it true. You get to participate in your relationship with yourself and your internal world. What kind of relationship are you currently choosing? ✨

I keep finding myself a lil agitated today. Maybe because I’m coming off a long weekend. Maybe because things are crazy at work. Maybe because it’s literally freezing today (my southern ass is cold ok?! 🥶😜). •
Whatever the reasoning...I just keep finding the same story on repeat in my head: I’d rather be home; I’d rather be napping; I have so many other things that need to be done; blah, blah, blah. •
The goal today is to not eat my feelings (I did cave and have cheez it’s...but I’ve avoided the candy bowl), allow myself to feel the negative emotions, and constructively move to a more positive mindset (but not through force or resisting the negative feelings). • “How the hell do you do that?!” you ask? With a little curiosity about how I’m feeling, a whole lot of patience, and by practicing gratitude. Everything may not be going my way today...but that’s no reason to forget all the good things. After all...life is beautiful 💕🤩🌅
We live in a world where being perfect is defined by how you look. As you grow older you realize that yes, it's nice to look good and it's great to feel healthy and be healthy but more importantly perfect is really about being imperfect. Acknowledging your faults and accepting yourself regardless of what anybody else thinks of you. All that truly matters is your heart and who you are inside and of course what you do for others.

i’ve been taking a lot of time lately.
time to think, process, and act.
i’ve always focused on trying to please other people and their idea of what my life should look like. to meet standards set for me by my parents, teachers, friends etc. full speed ahead. do more, think more, accomplish more.
for a long time i was so caught up in seeking validation from others that it only felt natural to silence my own voice. i remember waking up one day (recently) really, really tired. tired of pushing myself. tired of doing “all the things”. when i sat down and wrote those things out, i realized that i couldn’t even differentiate my likes from my dislikes anymore. it made me sad.
so now, my main focus is taking time. rebuilding trust. finding joy, comfort, and love. all by myself, with myself. because i know it’s the most important relationship i will ever have ♡
