One of the rewarding parts of my job is visiting with fellow educators and administrators to not only learn about their philosophies, but to see their schools in action. This week, I had the pleasure of meeting with Ashley Tinnes, the director of the relatively new preschool @valleyvillagemontessori in Valley Village. Seeing this school was like taking a master class in the Montessori Method. I was blown away by the extraordinary and dedicated faculty, and the strong focus on the individual child. #jamiebakalconsulting#growthmindset#montessori#preschool#educators@jamiebakalconsulting
Any situation can teach us if we're willing to become a student.

Be strong they say!⠀
It's easy they say.⠀
Just be strong, and everything will work out.⠀
But they don't tell you how hard it actually is to be strong.⠀
And to be strong all the time.⠀
Damn that is excruciatingly painful and hard beyond measure.⠀
Well I am here to tell you the hard truth, you don't have to be strong all of the time.⠀
I know I know, that is a hard concept even for me, but recently I had a fellow coach and friend who I deeply admire give me a come to Jesus moment.⠀
She flat out told me, that I get to stop being strong all of the time.⠀
I guess I knew that on some level, but having someone actually give me the permission to do it felt different some how.⠀
I am telling you this so that you know you get to be strong and feel weak at the same time.⠀
You get to push forward and feel like you are failing at the same time.⠀
Because the truth is that everyday you get up and face you world you are being strong.⠀
It's all about defining strength for yourself.⠀
It's about honoring yourself, valuing yourself, and respecting your journey and process.⠀
So the next time that you feel like you aren't being strong, remember that you are.⠀
And the next time you feel weak just know that you aren't.⠀
And the next time you feel like you just can't keep going, can't be strong anymore, or keep your head above water just know that it's ok to take a break.⠀
When was the last time you gave yourself permission to just be?
Series on boundaries.
Boundaries are not only crucial to establishing one’s meaning of life and exploring one’s own identity, but are at the core of every relationship, be it with other humans, our pets or our environment. In human relationships boundaries support us to delve into both physical and emotional intimacy with one another.
Boundaries can be stretched and redefined, expanded or shrunk according to the agreements we create with one another. ✨
The more you LEARN, the more you EARN.
Guys, it’s never ever too late to learn. Knowledge is the key to success and personally, I can’t get enough of it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If we keep learning, our brain stays alert and fresh. It’s good to keep it on its toes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There’s always more knowledge out there that can help us and help our business grow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take a free online course. There are loads of them out there. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sign up for a night class. Get someone you know to teach you something, and you can teach them something in return. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Or invest in a mentor or coach. I’ve learned SO MUCH from my coach. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Or just kick it old school and buy a bl**dy book! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At the end of the day you’ve got absolutely nothing to lose. The best investment you can make is in yourself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want to keep learning forever. It’s so important as an entrepreneur to have this mindset. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We don’t know it all, and that’s a good thing. Learning is exciting and who wouldn’t want to see their business grow and thrive as a result?

So, I was listening to one of my favorites @redefinedtv and the topic on this particular day was on the most important type of love --self-love; which as it is gaining more traction is really introducing us to a level of intimacy with ourselves that is opening doors to greater healing, vulnerability and true authentic living. But, the thing that got me was when Ps. Jeremy challenged the listeners by asking if they have ever written vows of love to themselves!??! Hmmmm...🤔 I've written lists, journal entries of wants and needs but never vows to myself. Wow, I love the whole idea of writing a solemn promise to fiercely love all forms of myself, to never forget that this love of myself is a forever journey and no matter the challenges that may come, I will with determination look for a way to find my way back to ME 💞! Come through now !
18 more days til 30! One lesson I have learned in my 29 years of life on this earth is LOVE DOESN’T HAVE TO HURT! I’m talking self love, love of others, love from others whether platonic or romantic, love of God, etc. .
Yes love goes through growing pains, but love is kind, patient, it is slow to anger and love is most of all respect. Respect of difference in opinion, compromise, sharing, caring, giving, never going to bed angry, listening to understand, selfless but needs to be selfish at times and is overall one the beautifullest, frustrating and life changes experiences ever. .

🛑“My engagement is so low!”🛑
“I’m not getting that many views.😭 What do I do?!”
Someone messaged me the other day and told me “your engagement is super funky.”
He then told me I should buy fake likes so my engagement would *APPEAR* to be consistent.🙄😅
LETS TALK ABOUT THIS.👇
Guys, first off, if you’re basing your self esteem or success off of engagement, you’re in for a rough life.
Secondly, organic reach IS dropping. It’s normal. It’s happening for everyone!🤷🏼♂️
Third, there are SO many factors that play into engagement... like:
Time of posting...
How many other people are posting at that time...
Hashtags you use...
What’s going on in your followers life...
Stop worrying about how many likes and engagement your post is getting.🔑
Start focusing on the QUALITY of your content.🔑
I want you to think about something...
When you find a new account that you might wanna go follow...
Do you base that account off of the engagement of one picture? Or the over all quality of the account?
If you have a personal brand, you need to focus on the quality of your content, because all it takes is one person to find your account and binge all your content.💯
If you’re content is good, they’ll stick around.
I can’t tell you how many messages I’ve gotten from people saying that they have never once engaged on any of my content, but follow everything that I do.👌🏻
One of the single greatest shifts that I made with my content is focusing on creating 1000 true fans.🔑
I’m not trying to attract everybody. I’m trying to create 1000 true fans of what I do.🔑
I pay attention to who watches my stories. I pay attention to engages on my content.
And I cater my content to the type of person that I want to attract.🔥
So whether my post gets 1000 likes or 100 likes, I keep posting.
Because I’m not in this for likes and engagement, I’m in this to help change peoples lives.💯
And believe me, when I look at your account, I’m not looking at the number of likes. I’m looking at the quality of your content.✔️
That’s what it means to be a #FreeThinker 🔑

The only thing that will make you happy is being happy with who you are. Not what people want and expect you to be. BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE ✨

A growth mindset is fuelled by continuous learning... and it’s vital for our ability to remain agile and to thrive in life.
In my 20s, I undertook personal development courses to help me be better, not realising it at the time that the learnings from these would help me cope when the unthinkable happened (the loss of our baby girl, still born in 2010). Life is hard and it will test you.
A growth mindset will help you cope and pivot as needed to thrive. .

We override our inner voice as a form of survival...
In order to fall into line with family dynamics we have to betray the voice that tells us "this doesn't feel good," or "this isn't working for me." Instead we choose to meet expectations, suppress true feelings or deny them completely.
The very first step in starting to heal is to give this voice the loudest platform in our head.
It won't make sense....
It will feel uncomfortable...
You will feel resistance...
The more you listen and follow through, the more freedom you are awarded. ❤️

For those that are here you’ll know I’ve been working on feeling ‘myself’ for a while. Practising meditation, experimenting with crystals and reiki. I’ve also made time to go to #selflovesummit and #Restfest to understand the journey I’m having. I had reiki over a week ago and there were messages in the practise. Things I’ve not spoken out loud, words I need to remind myself of. This week is #selfloveweek and last time I felt it a challenge and it’s ok to say your practicing but are we really 🤷♀️ because I know I’ve let things build up ready to a point I know I’ve a lot to work on. Thankfully I’ve got a very understanding partner.
Today’s self love prompt is something you love about yourself. I wanted to put I’m kind, but I’m not always kind to myself. So I’m going to put I love that I trust the journey because after the full moon maybe I need to surrender what’s not working to jus doing a simple daily practice of #journaling my journey.
I find that often, those with the greatest capacities for joy are often those that will tap into wells of darkness as well. They are the people who feel things deeply, intimately. They are those who will dance wildly around a fire, and then stare into the caverns it creates. ✾
These are the people who change the world, if they can manage these times of darkness. If they are able to find a balance, to acknowledge the demons and ride the wheel back to the light. That is power. There is no fear of the dark, there is no fear of vulnerability, because they acknowledge the strength in feeling all emotion. ✾
It took me years to find the value in the dark. To realize that feeling these things made me better able to empathize and help others. That all experiences lead to growth and a better understanding of myself and others. Now I can face the dark times head on, with the tools to break back into the light when I am ready. ✾
How do you find balance?

Good morning, and happy Monday! Today is Day 1 of the practice shakeup challenge that I’m hosting with Christopher Still at @honestypill
Details are below, but to start off, I made a quick video of my own. The deal is that this is what You START with, so I didn’t do my usual warm-up routine of scales and exercises. I DID, however, do some light arm stretching and now that I have listened back to my shirt excerpt and set my first practice intention, I’ll go back and incorporate that into my regular warm up.
From my recording, I have a list of things I want to fix, but I’m going to focus on how I’m using my bow speed to bring out dynamics and phrase direction
Remember to follow @kkayaian and @honestypill and comment on both of our accounts to win some serious prizes. We’re excited to hear about everyone’s experience with this #practiceshakeup
The best way to improve is to record yourself every day. So from Monday, October 14th-Friday, October 18th, do a quick, recorded run-through of something you’re working on—a scale, part of an etude, an excerpt, whatever. Length: 15 seconds to one minute. Choose something you NEED to improve on—not too easy, not too hard.
The catch—START your practice by recording this. No other warming up, no other fiddling around. Immediately listen back to your recording. What really needs work? Spend the first part of your practice session on this. Don’t continue with anything else until you’ve noticed and worked on the problem spot(s). Then set an intention to focus on one thing you want to improve (sound, intonation, rhythm, etc.) BE SPECIFIC.
How to enter:
· Follow @honestypill and @kkayaian on Instagram
· Every day of the challenge, comment on both accounts telling us whatever you recorded and worked on. (You can copy and paste the comment to both accounts if you like to make it easier).
· Winner will be chosen randomly from the pool of people who followed both accounts and commented on each accounts for every day of the challenge
🎶 @honestypill (Christopher Still, Los Angeles Philharmonic) is giving away his course, “The Strategy Session” 🎶@kkayaian is giving away a one-one one personalized practice coaching
Over the years as we grow older, our experiences condition our way of thinking. We acquire a certain set of beliefs that determine our reality.
If you think the world is against you and that people are out to get you, you will focus on situations that make it hard for you to trust others.
This quote is EVERYTHING🙌🏻
Just because you don’t see results in your business right now, does not mean you should give up.
You never know WHEN it will all make sense and come together.
Building a successful business online has so much to do with perseverance, consistency and patience.
It takes a level of committment most people don’t have. It takes trusting in your vision and the bigger picture.
Remember babe, you are in this for the LONG run. Entrepreneurs who are in it for the short run worry too soon and give up too soon. Not you though.
The next time fear kicks in, remind yourself of your journey and where you are going.
What you do today is building you up for your future. That’s how I am able to run 80% of my business on auto-pilot for the most part.
It took me 3 years to build my social media account to 100k+, 2 years to find my passion, 3 years to finally start “getting it”. Stay the course and it will all be worth it.
Having faith means that even when things seem impossible, when things seem to not work..you remain faithful and believe that it’s coming.
✅This Monday, embark with me on a new journey. I’ll be starting a free four day LIVE challenge, that will totally change your mindset in business!
All you have to do, is click the link in my bio to sign up. I can’t wait to help you create magic in your business! 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐢𝐨💖

In the Hebrew language, the word for speech is “dibbur,” which is closely connected to the word “davar,” which means an actual thing. In fact, the derivation of the popular magical saying, “Abracadabra” is of Hebrew or Aramaic origin and a combination of two words, “A’bra K’dabara,” which mean “I will create as a I speak.” Through this we can glean that our words are powerful and actually create our physical reality. We’re often naturally wired to see the glass as half empty and verbalize our concerns negatively, but with practice we can strengthen our frontal lobes and retrain our brains to positively flip and uplift our script. Let’s be more cognizant of what we say and try to elevate the everyday phrases we use to give life, boosting ourselves and the people around us. #powerofspeech
