I was the first pet in the family. I can’t believe there are a dog and a cat now. I fell in the care of my aunt after my real mom decided not to take me back. How rude! Oh well, my aunt is a very kind person to keep and take good care of me. 🙃
9/15/19 - Busy day today. Went for a 4 mile hike on a beautiful 70 degree, sunny day with a nice breeze. Then off to the shelter to get the two guinea pigs their nails clipped. Aaaaaaaand, we came home with some new additions to the family. Meet Alex, Rocky, and Gibson. 3 brothers who needed a new home. We have absolutely no clue who is who lol.
2 years ago yesterday I adopted my first two babies! Vin's still the boss & she loves hay and her hair more than life itself. Thea's super smart & always pops up on her hind legs to say hello - even though she's blind she can hear a plastic bag a mile away. Happy gotcha day beans ❤️❤️ #guineapig#guineapigsofinstagram#pigdad#vinandtheaandsunnytoo#loml
Hello everyone🙂 Today I’m going to talk about guinea pig ear tags. I have gotten multiple messages asking about Beethoven’s tag, and I did post about it on my story the other day, but since that’s not permanent I just decided to make an actual post about it. Ear tags are required to show a guinea pig. They have specific numbers on them that need to be written down on the entry forms at the shows. This is how the judges keep track of all the pigs. It’s the same concept as tattooing a rabbits ear. Rabbits get tattooed and guinea pigs get tagged. Beethoven and Nicholas currently both have ear tags. Kahlua use to have one but earlier in the year she got it removed at the vet. Finley also had one (for those of you who don’t know Finley, he was my Texel piggy who passed away back in February). Beethoven was never shown, but he was tagged by his breeder before I got him. Nicholas, Finley and Kahlua however I had tagged because I showed them. Finley won Best of Breed twice, and the one time I showed Nicky he won Best of Variety. Ear tags are not harmful and don’t need to be removed unless they get infected, which is the reason why Kahlua’s was removed. They aren’t that easy to get off so I do not recommend trying to take them off yourself. If you have a piggy with an ear tag and do not want it there, call a vet and they will be able to take it off safely. That is all♥️👋 ANY NEGATIVE AND RUDE COMMENTS WILL BE DELETED. Tagging and showing is not cruel. There ARE people out there who only show for titles and don’t care about the animals, but that doesn’t mean everyone is like that. I don’t show anymore, but I will in the future I’m sure. Not with any of my current pigs but it was so fun being able to do that with my piggies. I showed my babies for fun, not to win prizes. But it sure was awesome when my babies took home some rosettes🥇🏵 #guineapigsofinstagram#caviesofinstagram#guineapigmom#cavymom#beethoventheguineapig#kahluatheguineapig#nicholastheguineapig#finleytheguineapig#showguineapigs#eartagging#texelguineapig#americanguineapig#cuyguineapig#peruvianguineapig

Hi, welcome to my guinea pig Insta! It's been a long time coming, but my compulsion to show unsolicited Pig Pics to assorted family and friends at every opportunity is getting out of hand!
I have four sons that live in what used to be my Mum's garage, living in pairs in two fleece-lined c&c cages built and sewn by yours truly.
Part One: Boo and Toby💕
🐹 Boo (left) is 5, my eldest son and an all round grumpy old man. He grumbles at everything but is the most human orientated loving boar you'll ever meet. He falls asleep on any lap in seconds (provided it's warm and he's on the soft fabrics he prefers, of course!). He was named after Boo Radley from To Kill A Mockingbird, so technically his first name is actually Arthur.
He has a perpetually crusty nose (we've had it checked by a vet, don't worry), a weird fur texture (he's ¾ rex and ¼ shorthair but the genetics didn't work in his favour, bless him) and has a habit of biting his cage bars if he's not getting enough attention. I love him dearly.
🐹 Toby (right) is about 10 months old and was born completely blind, but that doesn't stop him from being the happiest pig we've ever had the pleasure of knowing. We don't know exactly how old he is as he was rescued at roughly a month old by the wonderful people at Glynneath Guinea Pig Rescue, but we gave him November 26th as his birthday because he seemed like a Sagittarius.
He was adopted through Glynneath's excellent boar bonding service after Boo lost his old friend Jem (pigs should never be kept alone). Boo was too grumpy for a pig his age, so he was tried with some baby pigs (who are usually more accepting) and immediately latched onto Toby (probably because he's blind - blind pigs can't see how rude other guinea pigs are acting, so generally bond easier). They're now best friends. We got to name Toby as he came into the rescue without a name, so we named him after the little ginger baby from Labyrinth (you know, the one with David Bowie)
