Definitely one of the dopest experiences I have ever experienced. So much lush nature, and every shade of green you can imagine. There is so much peace and clarity out here on the islands. It’s truly magical to loose yourself in nature. My wife and I were the first ones on the river, no tour guide, no nada, just us going with the flow, into the unknown. 🙃
Where they claim SUP started. Hawaii. This picture is taken in Hanalei River, January 2017. I bought my boards over facetime while sitting here in tropical Kauai. That summer was my first with @supstavanger . Now we’re getting close to SUP Stavangers fourth(!) season in Norway and I’m so excited to share it with you.

Traveling with a toddler that now walks (!) is intense 😱 Pretty much non-stop. To prevent serious burnout @swellshot and I have been taking lots of turns giving each other alone time. This is how I spend mine 🌺 @kayakhanalei was the perfect place to rent from with easy access right on the river. Super friendly staff too 🤗 thank you for making my vacation so much fun!

Cruised up river to do some brainstorming on how to add linear actuators to SolGatos solar hardtop. The Honu seemed very curious of the boat. He circled me a few times and even popped up under the trampoline for a breath. At the end of the day after being in the ocean, they like to cruise up river and wait for food to come downstream. They’ll just sit there floating on a few of the bigger turns in the river. Most people don’t notice because they’re too loud. It’s gotta be a nice break from ocean swell for them. #hanaleiriver#electricboat#solarboat
Forget about Running with the Bulls, on Kauai we Float with the Logs! Cruised SolGato my Solar Electric Catamaran up Hanalei river yesterday to experiment with a camera boom I rigged up and while I was up river the sky opened up over the mountains and a flash flood caused the river to rise a few feet bringing strong currents and a bunch of debris with it. Just as I approached a log jam it broke loose and I had to perform evasive maneuvers in reverse until it scattered enough for me to pass. On the way back down I cruised with the debris using mostly independent reverse thrust of each motor to keep the boat on course as the current took me down. Once I got back to the river mouth I watched the rest of the debris wash out and boaters try to get back up river. Some were able to conquer the current at the mouth while others aborted after several attempts. Then I used SolGato to haul a few logs further down river that had collected at the boat ramp risking damage to boats. The power of water on the move is not to be underestimated. #solarboat#electricboat#solarcatamaran#catamaran#multihull#hobiecat#sunpower#sunpowersolar#hanaleiriver#hanalei#flashflood#rivercruise#hawaiiboats#kauaistyle#riverboat#electriccatamaran#homemadeboat
Paddling up the Hanalei River. A pretty hard slog into the wind and up stream but so worth it. Virtually deserted, it was definitely one of my favourite days of the trip. #hanaleiriver#dontdropthephone
It’s nice to have a launch ramp and dedicated parking lot up river once again, especially when you have a shallow draft sailboat. Cruised Trio up Hanalei river Saturday to install a new battery. Was able to back Jeep close to where I tied the boat off along the bank with the mast slipped between two palms so I didn’t have to lug the group 27 batts back and forth too far. Figured I might as well rig and load the boat up with provisions for the day while I was there. After sailing just before sunset I cruised back up to unload and de-rig, then motored back out to my mooring just in time to paddle my SUP back in before dark. #trimaran#multihull#sailinghawaii#hawaiiboats#hawaiisailing#trailersailor#farriertrimaran#farriermarine#hanaleiriver
I paid my dues working on the Hanalei River Wildlife Reserve for @kayakkauai -schlepping kayak rentals for 7 years before I went out on my own with my own business Kauai By Stephanie.
Resembling absolute true paradise, located in the Hanalei Valley, it has nesting birds/turtles and even buffalo and flows through the taro fields, surrounded by 8 volcanic peaks. The water is shallow and is deepest under the bridge. You can kayak or SUP it year round.
Family fun for all ages
