Our HAPPY HOLIDAYS video is here!! But you guys have been extra nice, so you get TWO videos this week! Beyond our seasons greetings linked below, we also have a video we posted on Wednesday that has Shamus, the original Muteki Bladesmith, take you through our apprentice program!
The holiday season started this week with CAT's annual Holiday Potluck for students. Over 25 students gathered in the Student Lounge to partake in lots of yummy free food and holiday goodies supplied by instructors and staff. Big thanks to Carrie Kieswetter and the Student Success department for organising the event.

How crazy to think, that this weekend and next weekend are the last two weekends before Christmas!! Wow! .
Also, one week from tomorrow, my baby sister marries her fiancé. 🎩 👰 So many wonderful things going on and I am definitely distracted by my “to-do-list.” .
As I focus on my priorities, I hope you are able to also do what matters most.
Thank you for all your support and love!! .
“So many of my smiles begin with you” Happy Friday! What are your weekend plans? We’re planning to take Jaxson to see Santa tomorrow! 😊🎅🏼

It’s the Christmas season, so I had to go see the cutest bell ringer ever for @salvationarmylex!! I saw him last year and I just had to see him again. He always brings a smile to my face!!Hank from @forhankssake was outside of @josephbethlex!! Check out his profile to see his schedule!! Hank has his own nonprofit. The mission of For Hanks Sake is to bring awareness of abused and disregarded horses to the public and to advocate for their safety, health, and well-being.

We saw Santa yesterday! This was the last take.. we almost got a smile, I’m pretty impressed.
Voltaire is the great thinker responsible for the observation, “Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.”
I’ve found this precept to be extremely useful with my happiness project. Instead of pushing myself to an impossible “perfect,” and therefore getting nowhere, I accept “good.”
This sounds sensible enough, you’re thinking, but how does it actually work in real life? Here are some examples:
-- I floss sometimes. Not every day. Sometimes.
-- I don’t always push myself in exercise. I have friends who, I suspect, secretly scoff at my mild work-out routines. But because they never exercise except to push themselves to the max, they never go, and I’ve been exercising consistently since high school.
-- I don’t call, I email. When I told someone about my April resolution to send my friends birthday emails, he said, “But you should call! A call is much better.” True, I admit. But I hate the phone, and I won’t call. But I will send an email.
-- I send out Valentine’s cards with the girls’ photo, instead of trying to mail cards in December. People seem to like getting a card for Valentine’s Day, and it’s so much easier to deal with the task once Christmas is over.
-- For everyday, at my dermatologist’s recommendation, I wear a sunscreen of SPF 15 or 30 on my face and neck. It’s light enough to put on easily, while creams with a higher SPF are so goopy that it’s tempting to skip putting them on. Better SPF 15 (which is 88% effective) than no SPF at all.
-- When I read magazines, I skim and skip. Otherwise old issues pile up everywhere and make me feel guilty and overwhelmed.
When you consider your holiday plans or your 2020 goals and resolutions, don’t let perfect be the enemy of the good.

You can find the recipe for this gluten-free vegan and oil-free Rosemary, Almond, & Pine cake via yesterday's link in my profile bio @unconventionalbaker Or in the ebook linked to in my profile bio today ✨🌿⠀
And now an update about yesterday's blog situation... ⠀
Yesterday started out with me being super excited about sharing my favorite vegan + gluten-free Christmas recipes with everyone and also launching the sale of three new ebooks filled with my all-time favorite recipes from the blog. ⠀
It's been a crazy hectic few weeks getting those books together (what seems so simple often turns out to be a crazy amount of work, doesn't it?). I was so pleased it was all set to go and with enough time to allow people to pick out good festive recipes to try out for the season... BUT instead... ⠀
...everything totally crumbled into a completely chaotic 24 hours of tech support stuff (yikes!), with my entire website going haywire, not allowing anyone to see any of the content (let alone holiday stuff or new ebooks). On top of trying to resolve the tech issues, I was getting frantic emails from people who were mid-way through baking holiday treats when the site went down... Gosh it was a nightmare. I felt so bad... 🙈 An unexpected website malfunction of this magnitude has only happened to me once before in my 8+ years of running the blog, so this was totally out of left field.⠀
Today is a new day though. Woke up to find that my website has been restored (thanks to my tech assistant Jill + my husband who stayed up into the wee hours of the night and resolved the mystery cause of the malfunction 🏆🥇). Christmas recipes are all live for all to see (no passwords required 😅) -- you can find them via link in my profile bio from yesterday's post. Ebooks are all there and are fully purchasable for those that want to grab those -- woohoo! Link for those in my bio as well. ⠀
Well I feel like baking 10 cakes to celebrate the end of yesterday and the beginning of this new day now. Ya'll better want to bake some holiday treats too now, because I hope all this craziness hasn't been for nothing! 🤣
