The name Reiwa, meaning peace, harmony and fortune, comes from an anthology of Japanese poems called “Manyoshu”. It is the country’s oldest anthology of poems, and the verses are on the subject of plum petals blooming after winter.

'Haruka Yamamura' - Loop Orange. Size 220 x 273mm. “I create works with a rabbit motif. I began painting rabbits after my childhood pet, a black rabbit, passed away by my side. At first I repeatedly sketched rabbits, tracing their shapes. I gradually realized that these rabbits were an effective tool for conveying my own feelings and emotions. Although I initially encountered rabbits only by chance, I am now convinced that painting them is my calling. People typically think of rabbits simply as cute animals, but this reveals only a superficial understanding. Surely, rabbits must have completely different emotions on the inside that we can’t possibly imagine, just like people do. My artworks, paintings and sculptures, combine the feeling and thoughts of both humans and rabbits. In my recent pieces, patterns that seem simple on the surface contrast different background colors. These works show various aspects of rabbits and emotions. Mirroring human feelings, the images shift and change like a kaleidoscope. In my previous works, I focused on expressing my will as an artist and using mineral materials in a dark and dignified style, but now I want to create works that feel familiar and friendly to everyone.“ #email@example.com
